What's your asian supermarket haul?

Mine is mainly ingredients I can’t find anywhere. Like if I go to the Japanese grocery store, I’ll try to pick up things like umeboshi, Mitsuba, menma, etc; just uniquely Japanese ingredients I can’t really find in a more general Asian grocery store. And of course I’ll always pick up som inarizushi or some freshly fried takoyaki while I’m there, if they have the tents out. For Korean grocery stores, I’m definitely getting quality, fully fermented kimchi (when I don’t feel like making it), or things like acorn starch, ponytail radish, perilla leaves, etc; again, stuff I can’t find other places. But I can’t ever leave without a freshly fried custard bungeo-ppang, or maybe hitting up a good bingsu place for some injeolmi bingsu. I’ve started cooking more Thai food, so I’m also on the look out for rare Thai ingredients (holy basil, shrimp paste, betel leaf) wherever I go. I haven’t got a Thai grocer near where I live, sadly. So yeah, haul for me is definitely finding super obscure ingredients I can use to make really delicious food at home. But I do love me some strangely flavoured sodas or unique chip flavours to try. Shrimp chips and cucumber lays are definitely up there for me, like with Yaeji!

her music is melodic, interesting, textured, cinematic and genuis. Her ability to hack into her own psyche alongside her cross cultural influence has created an album which is completely uninfluenced by the zeitgeist.

She is adorable. I just got into Yaeji’s music and I really love it. It’s kinda hard finding electronic/ house artists so I’m glad I found her and gave her newest album a listen☺️💗

Those cucumber chips are indeed bangers. She has that right. And I love Jongga! I feel like it’s one of the few commercial kimchis worth buying when you can’t be bothered to make your own. … I’m starting to like this girl more. Lol
