Yes the early Matt '40s would oxidize in the Sun so every turn everything turned a kind of a strange copper color and I probably was mistaken but I was worried about moisture under the wing nut interfering with contact with the wire but as you can see I use a bear aluminum electric fence wire and all I got to do is rub a little battery grease on that and then tighten it sufficiently tight and then no more issues

It worked 100% of the time when I put it in. The only trouble I had with this tuner was when my newly divorced daughter moved in with me and her dogs got tangled up in the controlled cables and shorted it out and blew a resistor in my FT991A. Subsequently damaging my tuner but you know if it hadn't been for her dogs getting tangled into my tuner control cables I would never had any trouble. In fact it worked superbly for 2 years before she moved in. If I'd had the cables buried in conduit just a few inches under the ground the dogs never would have got in it Roger?
