I had heard about the bad battery life was so when I bought it I purchased a second battery. One always in the cradle charging- problem solved.

Battery life is ok , but it drains quite fast on receive and drains even when turned off. I’ve had both the UK version and the USA version and both were the same ....

@@pieman192 thats how my FT2D is. Batteries for it cost half what this radio costs. Batteries for this radio cost half what the FT2D batteries cost. I'm going to get one of these radios.

@@pieman192 Yes, the same here with my model. You must not leave the battery installed, when putting it away. On the other hand a very good radio, audio very good, and a superhet receiver. Spare battery (orignial yaesu SBR-24LI) costs around 34 € at the moment.

I sold it and I bought it again I love yaesu build and navigations menus . BUT MY RT85 $30 dollar has BETTER AUDIO no static sound so clear AND BETTER RECEPTION ! I wish my ft70 was like retevis rt85 audio reception quality.

Yes the budget Chinese DMR Radios have such good speakers

@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones I was complaining about FT70 volume way, but it is better than Alinco md5 Volume digital way and knob sucks is too tight. FT70 is great quality and design ! I wish it has the receiver quality than retevis RT85

Absolutely appauling battery life on this radio regardless of the settings. I only use mine on RX and it's still very poor so god knows what it's like if your transmitting as well. Please do not be tempted by the radios low price point avoid this radio like the plague you have been warned!

My experience is the radio stays on longer than the display icon reads it will last about 7 hours the spare batteries are a low price as is the drop in charger .

I went to the Dayton Hamvention and picked one up in May of this year (2022). I wish that I'd done research before buying it... The battery life is as bad as people are saying. I've checked all of the settings that are supposed to save the battery life, but no luck - the battery life is still bad. Everyone says that the solution is to buy another battery and a rapid charger, which is another $100+ spent after paying for shipping... I'm a new ham. I've only been licensed since December 2021, and I'd been told that I should look into the reputable manufacturers for decent equipment. (Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom). This handheld has soured my view of Yaesu. To give the radio credit, it transmits and receives VERY well. It is hard to transmit when the battery is dying or dead though...
