Light is probably one of the saddest characters I’ve ever seen. He doesn’t have a traumatic past like other anime characters usually do. But there is something about him..something so saddening.

One big thing to note is how corrupt humans can get with power. Most humans and especially younger ones are very quick to change for the worse with something like a death note. The author said Light would be a detective of L's level if he had never picked up the death note.

(spoilers) Light's death was so emotional, it had me empty after the series ended 😭 That scene when he was running and seeing his past self when he first found the death note :( Poor light, all of that and he didn't even win.

Light's Death was not fair or just not enough to “satisfy my mind”. When he died, I was sad but then my mind just said “At least, he can rest in peace now”. But Light could have been so much more, so much more. “Humanity, may not have wanted him but he was an needed Saviour”

Light killed Lind Taylor in episode two just because he called him evil. Towards the end he was going to kill people just for not contributing enough to society. He would not have made the world better, he would have made it worse with his childish, oppressive dictatorship which would have (and did) lead to waaaay more people’s parents and loved ones getting killed.

My argument is that Light himself wasn’t even carrying his own quest out correctly. He kills a couple of people just for disagreeing with him, approved of the deaths of his own followers for not representing him the way he wanted, had no remorse or even respect for the innocent people he killed and was going to kill people basically for being lazy. Even if you agree with his ideology, you have to admit that that’s just wrong. My argument is that Light himself is evil, but not necessarily his ideas.

I was pouring my eyes out in the end. Light have been given so many chances to change and stop, but even after being exposed he still doesn’t know what he is doing is wrong. Watching his growth from a normal high school student who could have such a bright future turn into an insane psychopath just hurts me mentally. This shows how power like this can change a person entirely, even if it’s just a student who’s bored out of his mind

Difference between these two personalities - Light Yagami and Kira: Light Yagami was a very good and morally pure man who just wanted to bring justice and peace all around the world but without breaking the established laws. A man EVERYONE should desire to become. A perfect idol. Kira was someone who wanted to kill criminals but also anyone else who came in his path and just wanted to rule on the whole world. I supported 'Light Yagami + Kira', a mix of personalities seen in first few episodes, who wanted to bring peace and justice all around by killing criminals (not every type of them but those who do really serious crimes). This might sound weird/not good to some people but if I was him I would have definitely killed those criminals who had intentionally committed these crimes: murder, r*pe, terrorism, high level animal cruelty, high level tortures, s*x trafficking, acid attack and a few others.... There were/are some criminals who deserve to die for their hideous crimes. Not just by heart attack but in ways they deserve to die. Thinking about their victims makes me sad and angry. That's why I support Light Yagami's idea of killing worst criminals.

Honestly, this anime left a huge void in my heart. Something about Light was so saddening. The scene in the last episode where he's running with injuries and recalls his younger self without the death note, it hit so hard. Even he felt in his last moments that he was better off without the death note and could've lived a simple life and achieved so much. Or maybe I'm digging too deep. But one thing is for sure that Light was a good person without death note. He could've become a better detective than L if he his life was different than it went.
