ऐसा ही एक किस्सा जितेंद्र जी के साथ भी हुआ था। फिल्म दीदार ए यार की शूटिंग में delay हुआ और 5 साल के बाद जब एक नया गाना रिकॉर्ड किया गया। इस नगमे को मोहम्मद रफ़ी साहब के साथ किशोर दा और लता दीदी ने भी गया था। तीनों ही इस नागमें कोंसाथ में गाया था। जब पेमेंट मिला इन तीनों को तो वो लेकर अपने अपने घर को पहुंचें फिर मोहम्मद रफ़ी साहब ने जितेंदजी को फोन किया और बोला, हे जित्ते पैसे ज्यादा हो गए हैं तेरे पास, तो जितेंद्र जी ने पूछा क्या हुआ रफ़ी साहब ? जवाब में मोहम्मद रफ़ी साहब ने कहा तूने कितने पैसे दिए आज के गाने के ? जवाब में जितेन्द्र जी ने कहा जीतने किशोर दा और लता जी को दिए (20000) उतने ही दिए हैं। उसपर मोहम्मद रफ़ी साहब ने कहा कि मैंने एग्रीमेंट आज से 4 साल पहले 4000 रुपए एक नगमेंं का साइन किया है इसलिए 16000 रुपए वापस लौटा रहा हूं। और उन्होंने अपने सेक्रेटरी के हाथ से पैसे वापस भिजवाया।

सुरवात में आपने रफी रफी करके बोला .... बादमें रफीसाहब बोलना सुरु किया..... प्यार से अगर रफी कहेते है तो ठीक..... लेकिन.... सिर्फ रफीसाहब ही कहेना.... उनको रफी कहेके singular नाम से मत बुलाना.... याद रहे.... ऐसे कोहिनूर बार बार पैदा नहीं होते..... रफ़ी साहब जितने बेहतरीन गायक थे, उतनेही अच्छे इन्सान भी थे. लेकिन न जाने क्यों उस ज़माने के कुछ संगीतकार और निर्माता उनके साथ काम नहीं करना चाहते थे.व्ही.शांताराम और सलिल चौधरी जिन्होंने बहोत कम गाने रफी साहब के साथ किये. जैसे की 'तक़दीर का फ़साना जाकर किसी सुनाये' और 'टूटे हुए ख्वाबों ने हमको ये सिखाया है'. कोई चॉइस न होने की वजह से उन्हे रफी साहब से गँवाना पड़ा.

Another producer who did not want to use Rafi Sahib was V. Shataram. Lekin 'waqt sabka ghamand toad deta hai'. He had to use him in Sehara. After listening to 'taqdeer ka fasan, ja kar kise suanain,' he must have realized what a beautiful voice he has kept himself deprived of all through his career.

Rafi saheb was a very nice man with kind heart, no comparison with any one, none had born, & can't take birth in future like him, he sang sll types of songs for almost every actor with maximum music directors, We cannot forget him
