Everyone getting emotional at Kiryu walking away at the end and rightfully so.. But i also teared up a little when Daigo called Kiryu his father. So in a way Kiryu has been raising two step kids.

This ending kinda proves my theory that Majima and kiryu represent the same character reacting to similar situations in different ways. Both lost their brother (tho saejima came back) Both got kicked out of the yakuza at some point And in the end, both men walked away to let the person they cared about most be happy. Both have a similar story, it's just both handled it very differently. Just something interesting I thought of.

If you compare the significance of the steps Haruto and Kiryu takes, Haruto is walking to a normal, bright future as Kiryu is taking steps to ACCEPT leaving them. When Haruto fell in the middle I think it's supposed to mirror the reluctancy Kiryu felt to just walk away OOF

I noticed something about Kiryu in this scene and at the end of Yakuza 0. In this fight with Iwami and with the Shibusawa, Kiryu was literally going to kill them. He's down right pissed in both scenes. Both Iwami and Shibusawa are both irredeemable and honor-less scumbags who used and stepped on the backs of others to carve their own path, which is why Kiryu went into both fights with murder on his mind. I even took a look at other final bosses like Nishiki, Ryugi, Mine, Daigo and Aizawa and he never showed this level of anger and contempt for them. Nishiki was his best friend who turned evil but he worked his ass off. Ryugi was Kiryu's greatest rival and fought with honor. Mine just wanted a genuine friend and Kiryu sympathized with that. With Daigo, Kiryu realized he failed to teach Daigo how to be a good chairman. Aizawa was just a rookie who dreamed big; Aizawa was an honorable man and he gave Kiryu one of the hardest fights he's ever had, thus earning his respect. Neither one of them crossed that line, except for Iwami and Shibusawa.

Kiryu started off as a man who couldn't bear to be apart from Haruka or Haruto. Just look at Yakuza 5 - being away from Haruka was enough to throw him into depression. Then you look at Yakuza 6 in which he literally kidnaps Haruto because he's afraid that he won't have him in his life, that he'd be alone if Haruka doesn't wake up from her coma. At the end of it all, he learns that he has to let them go if he wants to ensure their safety. A+ character development

Honestly, the fact that the final boss is so easy symbolizes, just how strong Kiryu actually is, 6-7 pipe blows, punched in the gut, yet he still gets back up and destroys Little Baby Iwami. To show exactly why you _Don't Fu*k with Kazuma Kiryu_

In my opinion, the most beautiful, and gut wrenching, moment of this ending and game, hell even series as a whole, is the shot of Haruto walking toward Haruka and before we get to see him make it to his mother, it cuts to Kiryu walking away from Haruka. The girl he raised and was the closest thing he had to a daughter. A sad but fitting end to the legend of the Dragon of Dojima.... and I would have it no other way

It was so warm when Daigo called Kiryu father. Ever since in Yakuza 2,i always feared Daigo may turn his back against Kiryu for his Dojima genes like his corrupted father, but Sega proved me wrong

They could have made kiryu die, but they actually make it even heartbreaking to have kiryu seperate himself from haruka and haruto.

The best video game series I've ever played. Even through all the fighting, blood, loss of friends and family, and betrayals along with taking haruka, daigo and many other kids in the orphanage under his wing. Kiryu kept going. IMO that makes him one of the best characters in a video game series

Just completed the game. The ending was a rollercoaster of emotions. First i was convinced they had actually killed Kiryu off but the scenes kept coming and finally we see him alive.

I didn't expect for the Daigo scene to hit me as hard as it did. Replaying their substory in Y0 will hit so differently now. And then there's the Haruto/Kiryu scene. Oh man. Bravo, Sega! The Kiryu saga truly is a masterpiece, and this game is one of my favorites in the series. Now I'm ready for Ichiban's story.

I think this is the perfect ending (for now) For Kiryu. Having him leave Haruka and Haruko really is something that I struggled with at first but with the rise of Diago, and Haruka being able to live a normal life after everything she went through; Kiryu when its all said and done raised two successful children. One as a civilian and one as a Yakuza. Its the epitome of Kiryu. He wasn't just a heartless killer, he was someone who's heart was too big for the Yakuza. I think Kiryu is one of the best characters ever created in gaming. I hope if SEGA brings him back they finally give us the happy ending for Kiryu we expect and his character deserves. It would be nice if he went to Taiwan to settle down and then is somehow reconnected with Haruka.

I just realized Kiryu stepping in to protect Yuta and Haruka resembles Yumi protecting him and Haruka Like even the camera work is very similar

The thing that is kinda brilliant about Iwami as a villain is that he resents his father for not allowing him to be his own man. By fighting him, Kiryu learns that if you genuinely love your kid, you eventually have to let them go on their own OHGODTHEWATERWORKS!!!

Kiryu will always and forever be the OG Yakuza. Even if he's going to be replaced and his storyline has ended, Kiryu will always have a place in my heart. Although it's truly painful that he has to fake his death in order for Haruka and Haruto to be happy, it's still for the best. They will always remember who he was as a person, despite his flaws. The only thing I feel bad besides the painful goodbye with Haruto and Haruka, is the guilt and burden that Date has to carry, as he's the only one (besides the politician) about Kiryu faking his death.

You know. I never really thought about how much Haruka's words were meant for Kiryu, in terms of the story. The reassurance that Kiryu can bring himself to walk away from Haruka as Haruto walks towards her. That final "Hang in there," is how Kiryu is feeling while he walks away. That's got me in tears.

Damn, Haruka's gonna be a hard mom. And Haruto's gonna kick a lot of ass if he is brought up on the legend that is the Dragon of Dojima.

I like that they didn't straight up kill Kiryu off. It gives him an awesome send off, but there's always going to be the chance that they could bring him back in a future game if they decide to. Also, I believe the devs said they were open to making a game set between Yakuza 0 and 1, so hopefully this isn't the last time we see Kiryu. The series just won't be the same without him.

Yakuza 6 deserved the GOTY 2018 award (with all the respects to great games like god of War and RDR2), instead it even didn't had a nomination for best narrative.... really sad.

This ending was perfect, from how badass it was when Kiryu no longer had to worry about Haruka and was free to beat the crap out of that dude to how heartwarming the letter to Daigo was and the sadness in Haruka’s cries. It was an amazing and very emotional.

Just finished Yakuza 6 I’ve never felt so empty after playing a game there’s just nothing that would satisfy me like Kuzuma Kiryu’s journey no matter what he did he always ended up being dragged into something so faking his death to protect his family was the best way to end

I rarely get emotional, but now that I am a father, I understand how heartbreaking the last scene is. Taking care of him in the beginning then leaving him forever at the end. Although sad, it is still a perfect ending.

I thought that letter was for Haruka, I was genuinely surprised to see Kiryu referring to Daigo as his son, but looking back into it, makes sense. It completely went over my head all the father/son experiences they had, even back in Yakuza 0.

If you didn't notice, Kiryu "death" is like Yumi. Yumi died protecting Haruka and Kiryu by taking a gun shot, while Kiryu "died" protecting Haruka, Haruto, and Yuta by taking a gun shot.

I REALLY hope Sega will bring him back and the truth will be uncovered at least for Haruka, Daigo and Majima. Maybe as a sidekick character in Shin Yakuza or its sequel, but they MUST do it. Kiryu has been playing martyr since the events of Zero. He DESERVES to be with his loved ones now.

That dynamic intro to the fight is probably one of the coolest looking ever in the series.

I think a lot of people are piling on Iwami and calling him a bad character because he's so loathsome. I'd argue that was deliberate. He is nothing like previous foils, there is no greater moral code, he doesn't redeem himself in any fashion. To the end, even after being beaten he wants Haruka shot, after begging for mercy. He is for me the perfect antithesis of everything Kiryu stands for, in way that Jingu was, but more fleshed out. Even opponents who didn't repent at the end showed a degree of honor, but not Iwami. For me it's powerful because he's the inverse of Kiryu, a monster who wants to be a man, Iwami is a man who wants to be a monster.

I absolutely love that Nagumo came alone for the very end, solely because Kiryu fought for the woman he loved. Kiryu was ready to kill or die for the girl his friend loved, and Nagumo was ready to kill or die for Kiryu's daughter. The game ended way more beautifully than it had any right to.

I suppose it's poetic that Daigo decides not to go to war with the Yomei after all, and probably also strategic. As the bigger clan and with the grudge that they're forgiving, the 'equals' pact will probably still have the Tojo coming out with the bigger slice of the pie. That said, it's a bit of a shame we don't get to see Majima and Saejima fucking up some Okinawa goons. If they thought just 1 of Kiryu was tough, they have another thing coming with this problem marching on the Yomei.

This game surprised me with how good it was. Reminded me of those good old PS2 days.

While Im glad to know haruka and her family will be safe, i HATE it that it came at the price of kiryu never seeing them again. Seriously, the man has been through enough 😥

That hospital bed scene is so damn fantastic. I also love how the politician empathically tells Kiryu that he could never threaten a man in a hospital bed immidiately resorts to death threats towards Kiryu and his loved ones, when the power dynamics shift and Kiryu flips the script on his deal. Also the micro expressions of Kiryu's face when he threatens the politician back are brilliant, as I don't think he blinked a single time when he looked him in the eyes until he turned away from him. Intense stuff.

Saga and thier yukza franchise pulled it again. Strong and clever story. ✅ Heartbreaking moments. ✅ (and I really mean it) An expected ending. ✅ A great fighting game with simple rules and mechanics. ✅ A great narrative and voice acting. 👌 ✅ Developers right back it at again. ✅ ✅ ✅

i saw the ending credits just a few minutes after i heard the news about my grandpa in his death bed, and all i could think about was my grandpa being kiryu in this case, and me being haruto. One walking away, accepting death leaving loved ones behind, and me whos just barely walking the path to adulthood.

i'm convinced that once things are "safe" (like when certain politicians are out of power) kiryu will go back and spend time with haruka and explain why he had to stay away. like, the dude is barely 50, he has a lot of life left to live(and sega has a lot of money) so i definitely see him showing up in more games, like he did in 7. this definitely aint the end :). at the moment, he seems to be in a state of limbo where he's hiding but also helping, and daigo AND MAJIMA both know he's alive soooo... i'm sure it will get back to haruka eventually. anyways, this was a real tear jerker but kiryu-chan is unstoppable.
