I think dubs can be fun and can bring replay value. I'm playing Persona 5 Royal rn with the English dub. Once I'll go into NG+, I'll switch to the Japanese one. I just find it fun and it makes the replay feel like 'something new' again.

The English Dubs have come a long way and are defintely top quality (with Lost Paradise being my favorite). I'll still stick to the Japanese Dub. I prefer to do so since the games take place in Japan, so the Japanese language makes things more authentic to me. Don't know if I'll switch to English, since 8 takes place in Hawaii. EDIT: WEEEEEEEEE

Am I stupid in thinking that it's better to out-of-combat heal with people that aren't in the active party so they don't have lower mp for the next fights...? Or can you not do that? Idk I see all the time that people use active party members to heal when not in combat and I think that same thing every single time.

It's not stupid, it's doable but i'm guessing he didn't have a healer in the inactive party, in my ng+ legend i just had the biggest damage dealers in the main party and an idol saeko inactive to heal after battles and maybe tag her in against bosses or hard enemies

I did much rather read the subs than use the dubs regardless of the improvements. The tone never quite matches the character mainly from a cultural standpoint. But then there are games like FF 16 that have shifted to western culture where english would be the logical choice since it was the focus of the VO this time around and fits the part well since we are talking Medieval European culture with knights and such.

For me it just depends. I can't watch a long ass series in Japanese, otherwise that's a pathway to driving me crazy. But other stuff just can't be dubbed. Cowboy Bebop is something where if you prefer sub, you should still watch the dub too since it's amazing. Same with Bleach, JYB is one of my favorite VAs, I wish he did more in RGG studio games.

English dub is the reason most people play the game. Most players like the language to be their own language, and most people speak English as a second language so English is more appealing to them. They wouldn't even play the game if it was just Japanese. There is a reason yakuza 7 got higher sales
