It IS one of the first upgrades available to you, though it's still only unlockable style-by-style. I mean like, I had all three of em by the Shimano fight just from beating on regular thugs in the street, since they're unlockable one after the other in the second tier of abilities in the Soul tree. Each of them is 3 skill points a pop, which is a far cry from the 50-85 points it takes to get some of the more advanced abilities later on. The real problem is that, as Name says, they straight up don't tell you about them, and the Dragon style one is deep in the Majima Everywhere system as Marius Boss says. That's definitely a major failing of Kiwami, since the attacks are also basically useless in standard mob fights. A little more clarity would have been great. I always saw the Shimano fight as, if you don't have the Rush Kiwami attack, a tutorial in looking around the arena for improvised weapons and taking opportunities to interrupt his healing with a Heat attack. He heals exactly two times, and there's exactly two lanterns in the arena to bash his head in with. It's not a perfect system, but I think that's what they were "trying" to go for. It doesn't seem like they succeeded, because this isn't the only time I've seen people complaining about this exact thing, including several friends of mine very (justifiably) frustrated at Kiwami's opening act.

Yeah that ability is objectively bad. A lot of others mentioned are just useless.

It's only useful when you can pay for stomach removal, which is 5K SP in Judgment and *90K* in LJ (50K for book from Onodera + 40K to learn). Until then, you can catch me outside Sushi Gin/Restaurant Row beating every mf who steps up into a pulp.

Fortunately the Snake style's reliance on grabs were actually done well because you can still throw bosses and whatnot, unlike Shinada's 'cause I know what you mean. Bosses in Yakuza 5 just give you a big middle finger half the time when you press the grab button lol

If there's one thing that the Munakata fight in 4 can be praised for, it's the fact that the bodyguard swarm actually plays to Tanimura's strengths: each and every one of them can be subjected to his special grab and parry, and combined with the Heat gain on parries skill and Tanimura getting Heat actions for every finisher, and you can basically spam heat actions as the guards drop all around you. Of course the old guy with a gun is still a problem, but still. As for Snake, even if bosses in LJ were immune to grabs, it still wouldn't be that big of a deal. Yagami has 2 (or 3) fully functional styles which don't have that weakness, while unarmed Shinada is kinda crap without his grabs.

It has its uses but there are a fair few heat actions that Yagami has that hits three enemies anyway and you can spam them haha

@@electroshock1021 He can use them before those upgrades, he unlocks a better moveset for each one with the upgrades. Without them he just has the same weapon movesets that Kiryu does.

Thankfully Lost Judgment just had the max combo speed by default lol. Yakuza 0's gear mechanic still pisses me off because there's no way to upgrade your heat and you need to deal with such a massive trade-off each time you use your heat because you transform into a slug >:(

Crane is ass in Judgment anyways especially due to Dragon Engine block bounce attacks

@@zealous404 One thing I figured out is that hitting enemies with attacks not targeting them won't bounce off even if they block, so Crane becomes alittle better if you target a new enemy with each attack; since enemies in the series tend to not block the first attack.

Not sure, but that might be a Remaster issue, where enemies escape Shinada's grabs faster. The hercules gloves help a lot though.

For getting up the completion list, yes it absolutely sucks balls lol. I remember when my friend played Judgment he bought that ability very early and he regretted it his entire playthrough haha. At least once you get bottomless stomach it can actually be useful if you purely want to spend as little money on healing but like it barely costs anything anyway

Majima's eye pokey slappy counter thing when you get hit also has a massive window between when you get hit and when you can press the button for some reason. In the gameplay recording I had when I was trying to do the Thug counter I actually did that move by accident like 5 times which pissed me off haha

@@SnowiestAngeman another one I noticed: Peerless Resolve says it recovers HP in addition to preventing a KO. It does not, I assume it did at one point but was removed for balancing. The Batting Cage also just give incorrect information. Haven't played Judgment but I'd wager a guess all this is Ctrl+V from that game.

Compare it to pressing Triangle in EX Boost with Kaito's Bruiser where it can juggle enemies. The Brawler one is so worthless that it would actually buff Kiryu if it wasn't in the game lol

PS: Rolling Snake. Literally no reason to keep it to the 2nd Heat Bar other than they can just program it like that apparently, and it's actually pretty shit compared to other heat action grabs you can do with other styles. Considering Yakuza Zero is a game where you can style switch, and the game lets you unlock abilities that literally reward you for doing so (i.e. being able to attack in the middle of style switching), this is kind of a dogshit ability.

Basically this. I made a mistake of upgrading every atk power upgrade and even in hard mode (haven't tried legend) a lot of the battles finished very quickly.

Yeah it's pretty easy to use by accident. A big reason why it would seem poo poo is that your heat actions will get stale, so using it a first time is fine, but using it again on the same enemy will make it deal like 0.0012 damage lmao

There is a mod that changes the input for that and Kiryus extreme heat mode on Nexusmods, so you can actually choose to use Akiyamas launchers or not and actually taunt as Kiryu with Heat.

All the Yakuza 5 special heat things are kinda butt in my opinion lol. Kiryu's is good for becoming invincible but I would just rather be allowed to taunt and not get a free anti-damage pass haha

@@SnowiestAngeman It's so niche and people usually leave those annoying challenges for last, I'm not surprised when people tell me they didn't know. Despite having a weaker effect, Amulet is better for skilled players than Talisman due to the latter disabling a plethora of abilities. Also Amulet gives Kiryu a cool visual effect so there's that.
