Yamada (or well known in US as Futaba) 4 stroke engines is quite rare things you can find. It's quite expensive new and still relatively expensive in repairing if you are bought it used. There is an simple explanation - Yamada engines are so beautifully constructed and produced with real Japanese quality of craftsmanship, so it couldn't be cheaper. It's quite complicated from the point of construction, as well, as they are very sophisticated engines.
It's not easy to tune this engines, especially after complex rebuild and changing parts. But, this engines are the most powerful in their class, showing highest possible top end rpm's with a heavy props and I was very surprised, how it could idle ! Yamada engines likes higher Nitro (up to 30%) content in fuel mix, than most of others. Good synth oil with 18-20% content would grant you sufficient lubrication. Don't allow your Yamada to run on lean fuel mix !
Definitely, highly recommended to watch this video.
Thank you for watching CrazyEngines and have a nice day !

Motul Micro is the best synthetic two stroke oil around. Will keep your engine internals squeaky clean. A cut above the rest of the oils on the market. Nice rebuild BTW! purring like a kitten!

Your words are very pleasant, thank you ! I'm still experimenting with Motul Micro 2T oil, somewhere was found, that chemically it has some small acid reaction.Going to clarify, how it could affect engine internals. But nevertheless, I've some feeling, that it performs really better.

You certainly have a way of getting a great idle speed! I have my YS F120 on a slow WWI style plane. The YS F120 has great throttle response even when overproped with an 18x6.

Thank you for your kind comment ! Yes, YS F 120 is really cool engine with enough power source, definitely. Achieving low and reliable idle wasn't easy. My first test run attempts mostly ends at approx, 2,8K - 3K rpm, just a bit lower and engine dies. It was tricky, really. But can you imagine 1,3K rpm with very typical 2 stroke Enya # 3 glow plug ? Constant persistence becomes the key, fine tuning in a small increments was successful.

I just got one of those on ebay yesterday evening but I don't have it in my hands yet but he said it has just had new bearings and seals and a new NC head and valves and new piston ring! He says it runs perfectly but that I should break it in a little bit before flying! Are you using the check valve on your engine? I don't see it from this side!
@crazyengines88
@crazyengines88 Жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for your question ! Yes, I'm using the check valve, it should be somewhere on another side of the engine. It's important, to get fuel tank pressurized. Yamada utilizing very sophisticated supercharging method, where engine's crankcase is utilized for pressurizing fuel mix and then, redirecting it through slide valve under pressure to the intake, to combustion chamber. So, to make this supercharging system to work accordingly, fuel tank check valve is necessary.

great videos btw Could you clarify location attachment of fuel lines, right fuel nipple goes to fuel clunk feed , right is fuel feed ? and left?
@crazyengines88
@crazyengines88 2 ай бұрын
Hi, hello and thank you for your question ! So, it's easy. Left nipple ( ! important !) from the pilot's side) should be connected to the pressurizing tube, through the check valve (one side throughput valve), to the fuel tank direction. Second, from the right side (from the pilot's side), is connected to the fuel supply (fuel sucking ) tube, Yamada is strongly recommends to install fuel filters into the both lines, due to the fact, that fuel mix is pressurized inside the engine crankcase, so to filter all small particles. You can find more details in the engine's manual here: www.yspower.co.jp/en/data/pdf/fz120.pdf So, thank you and have a nice day !

@@user-mh9oz4jj5j Hi, as far, as I remember, right nipple is for fuel supply, if I understand your question correctly. Please, take care to install "check valve" in direction to the fuel tank. This is crucial.

Buona giornata !

Thanks for the video, can you tell me what you use to clean the engine?
@crazyengines88
@crazyengines88 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question ! For the first step, I’m using kerosene, while providing cleaning in ultrasonic bath. Additionally, for removing heavy carbonised deposit, I would suggest so called “carburettor cleaner” in aerosol can. Also, so called “car tar remover”, in aerosol can also shows some nice result. Definitely, adding some brush work will increase cleaning performance. What is important - I’ll recommend to avoid any rubber parts to be long time ( more, than 10-15 minutes) sunken into cleaning solvent. Thank you for watching CrazyEngines !

how much you turn the regulator fuel..?
@crazyengines88
@crazyengines88 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question ! To be honest - I've try a lot of combinations in between fuel regulator \ carb settings and I was lucky enough to find optimal co-relation between both settings. If fuel regulator will supply too much fuel - is will leaks from everywhere + engine will die occasionally, especially at low end. If controversial - fuel reg will supply less fuel, than engine natural consumption - it can't achieve it's great and powerful point at high revs. definitely, I would recommend to look into engine manual. Please, be prepared for long "dance's" around engine. But nevertheless, time investment will be covered fully with great engine performance. Thank you !

never like the yamadas fuel system. too much to give issues. prefer the os,fs 120surpass II. other than the fuel pump seal leaking when they get hardened, they run and tune very easy.

Harvey Newman Yes, fully agreed with you. Really, dozens of hours was spent for investigation of this engine behavior. After, we’re found some understanding in between :-). Some complications are almost positive for finding the reasons and solutions.
