Running a 4 stroke exhaust on a 2 stroke motor is the equivalent of wedging a golf ball in your exhaust pipe. It’s like intentionally making it weak. You need the expansion chamber to make it run right.

The exhaust won't actually hurt the engine, but you are giving up a lot of performance vs an expansion chamber. 2-strokes rely much more on the their exhaust tuning than a 4-stroke. The exhaust on a 4-stroke is designed to get the exhaust gasses out with with as little restriction as possible... the momentum of the expelled gas actually creates a small vacuum that then helps the next "pulse of gas" escape easier. Because of this negative pressure, having such an exhaust system actually performs BETTER than simply exhausting the gasses straight into the atmosphere without a pipe - which intuitively should produce the least resistance possible. Now, on a 2-stroke, the idea is even more dramatic: a 2-stroke has no valves and there is a brief time in the cycle that A) the intake and the exhaust are open at the same time, then B) the intake closes first, and last C) the exhaust closes. The expansion chamber on a 2-stroke does two things: 1) it helps suck the spent gasses out like a 4-stroke exhaust system, but even more magically, a small part of fresh (unburnt) gasses slip straight out the exhaust in part A... then after the intake closes (part B) a pressure wave builds up in the exhaust since the tip is smaller than the "fat" middle of the pipe... this reverse pressure wave actually pushes the "unburnt gas" back into the engine at positive pressure, so it "packs it in" at a pressure that is HIGHER than atmospheric pressure!!!! Think about that... This is exactly what a turbo or a supercharger do on a 4-stroke engine!!! Just by changing your exhaust pipe, you get a free "Turbo"... That's the magic of an expansion chamber! You might want to rethink your exhaust! But a gorgeous bike you have built - no matter the performance! Bravo! Good video too! Cheers!
