As an ex pro guitarist/songwriter and fledgling pianist, I couldn't be happier with this keyboard...very easy to use the seemingly endless voices and styles.This video doesn't exaggerate the DGX650's capabilities at all...and what a great player!....now I need to practice!

Thank you. This was the first video I've found that actually shows HOW you use the Split and Layer features as well as exactly how to set up a multitrack recording in the DGX. (And that's after sitting through a few demos at NAMM 2016 of the 660 at the Yamaha booth without them showing these features - too much time spent on iPad app I'll never use.)

The best demo I have ever seen on KZfaq. A real musician is demonstrating this instrument. So many of the others are quasi jazz and never veer from that idiom.

This is the best keyboard out there for the money.I sampled them all and there are no professional instrument as far as piano that comes close.I tried them all and this thing right here i'm telling you the action is so nice for a professional musician .I play everything from classical to gospel and anything in between and this keyboard handle's them all.

I've owned my DGX-650 for ten years, and it's still going strong. If I were buying a new one today, I'd probably go for the CK88 instead of the latest DGX, but that line didn't exist back then. In any event, the DGX-650 and its successors are fantastic home keyboards. The "portable" in "Portable Grand" is up for debate because this thing is incredibly heavy. But you CAN move it and gig with it if you are really determined. I just don't!

I have a Yamaha DGX-620, although now we're three updates beyond this model, I may upgrade to this one (I note the redesign; the black and white models do look tasteful, although I did like the combination of wood/metal in the earlier models, I must admit). For an arranger keyboard, though, with an emphasis on the presentation of the piano sound (it's a full-size keyboard, for Heaven's sake!), the PortableGrand models of Yamaha are easily the best mid-range keyboards available, in terms of value for money, playability, good sounds and the features which are added to encourage and assist young learners. Keep up the good work, Yamaha!

Great presentation... this video gives a glimpse at all the key features and allows a taste of the different styles without boring you with 5 minutes of nonstop freestyle for every option. Thank you also for explaining how to operate the keyboard. Many videos waste too much time demonstrating styles and poorly explain the keyboard's functions. This video had a perfect balance of demonstration and explanation.

i have the same piano except different color his is black mines silver gray and theres more tones and feutures he could use such as grand piano E . piano strings harpsichord drum pad and different type of funky instrumental feutures i even have a big headset that goes with it and i got a microphone stand that goes with it i have separate inpute for that i also play acoustic drums and electric drums the two main brands they make in a keyboard is Yamaha and roland love them both great sound and feel and touch of the keys

I'm am planning on getting this piano but I have to save up... I have about 600 dollars and need about 800 dollars to buy and and a good space to put it because it is so valuable and would be precious to me.... love it

Very talented and competent demonstrator. Where are the solo instrument samples? Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Horns, Solo guitars, saxes, solo brass. This machine is meant to be a comprehensive sample instrument, not just piano, drums and pads and the ghastly "square lead". It's easy to hide poor samples within "styles", which always sound like muzak however hard you try to made them convincing.

If I'm not wrong, this has a more advanced accompaniment engine. Just play regular piano, the Keyboard is able to figure out the key for the background itself, whether you play chords like a chord or like an arpeggio. Also, I notice that the 640 has "Live" sound only. The 650 has "Natural" sounds.

Wat zou het fijn zijn dat ik je uitleg beter kon begrijpen.Het blijft voor mij moeilijk om een USB te gebruiken voor muziek op te nemen, blijf dus hopen dat er ooit een Nederlandse vertaling komt tijdens het spelen want het bijbehorende boek is ook niet te begrijpen omdat je eigenlijk moet kijken naar je spel waar je precies op drukt kunnen. Toch bedankt voor het leuke optreden van U.

It is not my motherlanguage, but as I can say, this is the style of presentation I really like. I have YAMAHA P105. I wanna ask about the keyboard comparation, and is the grand piano also such natural as the 105 have? I wanted to change it to P-115, but the sound is not so natural. My wife is the professional piano teacher, so we need an instrument near to the real piano by the keyboard quality. We will be happy for all the functions. We are using Ableton Live 9.1 - I guess this have MIDI out.

Hola Saludos, escribo desde Colombia.... tengo una igual, y les cuento que me sucede que los dos últimos "DO", es decir los más agudos del lado derecho, SENCILLAMENTE NO SUENAN... y a la par tampoco suenan algunos SOSTENIDOS y otras veces dejan de sonar otras teclas.... y ya le hice un RESET y sigue igual........ Además el aparato no está viejo y siempre se le ha conservado con su forro.... Me parece el colmo que pase esto con un equipo que cuesta casi 950 dolares... hay muchos teclados económicos a los que NUNCA les pasa esto... Qué decepción porque uno confía no sólo en el precio sino también en la marca, mal, muy mal por YAMAHA.... NO se les recomienda que compren esta marca, o por lo menos nada de la referencia DGX y similares…. Y lo peor es que en las tiendas donde los venden, así sean especializadas, no ofrecen ningún tipo de servicio o asesoría que valga la pena, sobre todo cuando estás por fuera de la garantía… en mi caso por ejemplo me tocó investigar en internet acerca de cómo hacerle el RESET para que volviera a la configuración original, porque en las tiendas no saben nada de nada…

Excellent demo. I have a question for you. I created a MIDI song in the internal memory of the DGX-650.... and saved it. Then I plugged in my USB flash drive and saved the MIDI file to it. I took the USB drive and plugged it into my computer and loaded the MIDI file into a MIDI sequencer/editor and corrected some mistakes, then saved the MIDI file back to the USB stick. I plugged the USB stick back into the DGX-650 and it played perfectly. NOW.... I want to convert it to an audio file. It won't convert from the USB flash drive, and I haven't figured out how to copy my new MIDI file from the USB drive back into one of the user song files on the DGX-650. Is this possible?

can the yamaha DGX 650 connect with mac mountain lion. Softwares like garageband/logic pro. I looked up the driver it supports on yamaha for this but couldn't find mac mountain lion support for this version, however the previous version support it.
