Yamaha FJ1200 New chain and sprockets

In this video I have replaced he worn chain and sprockets on my Yamaha FJ200 for new ones. A step by step guide of how I did it including torque figures for the components fitted! Enjoy!
Chain set used. AFAM premium X/Ring chain
Rear axel nut 155 Nm
Rear sprocket nuts 55Nm
Front sprocket, 85 Nm.

I don’t think the quality was really that great back then. I think durability is more true to the facts. The plastics are certainly the weak points on my bike and hard to come by. Thanks for your comments and good to hear you have a nice FJ !

I have a FJ1200 and its got a rattle on the left hand side of the engine . Any idea. I thought that pos alternator??? You need to put up more stream. I love my FJ but because its so good i havent had to do much to it lol Nice stream thanks.👍👍👍👍I want to make sure that alls good before the summer.The previous owner didnt look after the bike at all and it was used as a cummuter bike and left out in all sorts of weather.But now its got a good owner and it will be cared for.

They are old bikes now. Depending on your mileage. Unbalanced carbs are like Covid for the FJs. .Rattling engines they are . I would service the bike and put some decent oil in there. The cam chain tensioner with. new parts. The clutch area is common for rattling. Parts are expensive so you have to ask yourself how far you want to get into it. Proper service first then see how it feels. Good luck!

Thats so funny . I own a Zepher 55o that i am working on at the moment . I love the GT 550 very nice to ride mate.BTW where are you getting your spares from . Please let me know .

They are hard to get depending on what you want. Most parts are after market. CMS motorcycle parts in Holland are good. Otherwise second hand parts when i see them even if I don't need them. Check out my vid on the GT. Good luck?
