For me the best sound quality is from KETRON specially the Orchestra sound and sax, trumpet ect...

For a 12 year old backing module the BK-7m sounds great.

In live situation I only use Ketron instruments (MS-50, X1, SD-2/SD-5, SD-1000, SD-40) for .mid files since 30 years, because I can use them without or with only a few sound changes. For live-playing I have sampled sounds from "Steve Solitaire" (Luxemburg) and a few built-in sounds from genos with modified parameters. For use on my computer I am proud to have a special *.sf2 sound bank with my own sampled sounds (collection of Branda, Soli, Ketron, Akai, Oberheim, Korg and many more).

Is it possible do some instructional videos; especially starting with creating one’s own styles from scratch and stringing them together to record a whole song? Would also like to know about whatever tweaks can be done to the FM generated sounds?

I think that both Roland and Ketron are better than Yamaha in this case. Roland’s drum and the GM sound of the melody are more suited for a Xmas song. At the same time, sound quality of the pad and, again, the melody coming from Ketron are very very good. In my personal opinion, they are better than Genos 2 for this specific midi file.

Ni jedan ne dominira, svaki ima svoje prednosti i mane. Mislim da BK7 malo zaostaje sa miksom instrumenata jer mu je bas prejak a orgulja ili stringsova na uvodu nema, ali to može biti i zbog EQ i default setingsa koji su generalno podešeni pri starovanju modula kao Global. U principu - pata karte iako je BK7 smešan sa cenom i godinom proizvodnje u odnosu na ove druge dve mašine a nosi se lepo i skoro ravnopravno sa njima.

Overall Genos2 sound better then Kedron and BK7 which sound good in the beginning but later it does not play synth part correctly.

Do you think someone could use the Roland bk7 with a Casio px-s7000? it doesn’t have midi in&out ports?

the drums on the ketron sound more real, on the yamaha it sounds more well mixed though

To my ears, (only the drums) the Ketron is on a par - if not better than the Genos2. The BK7 drums are not great, and sound electronic. If you did a bass and drums only comparison, that would be great Thio, as many solo guitar performers use that format. Cheers

Thanks, Tiho. My perception: I am truly amazed by the huge quality difference of the Ketron EventX. The Genos2 clearly comes out worst.

I think the Genos has the better clarity.

Zavisi na kojim slušalicama slušam. Ali ovako, Genos ima najviše ispeglan zvuk. Kod BK7 sve OK dok ne uleti bas i počinje da dominira. Kod Eventa je isto malo previše basa kad počne ritam, ali ne iskače toliko kao kod BK7. A što se tiče prvog utiska, dakle pre ritma, tu je Genos bez obzira na ispeglan zvuk najslabiji. Uvod najsređenije zvuči kod Eventa, ali BK7 ima najviše karaktera. I još nešto, ne znam kako ga tvoj prijatelj programirao, jer kod Rolanda na BK7 se ne čuju svi zvukovi, fali mu onaj zvuk arpeggia što najavljuje ritam. Kod Genosa se čuje na levoj strani i počinje na 01:08 a kod Eventa se čuje na desnoj strani i počinje na 02:24 pa se pitam zašto taj zvuk fali kod BK7, valjda bi trebali da se čuju svi zvukovi na svim klavijaturama na General MIDI. :)

BK7 sounds best to me. BTW tiho, you got rid of the Genos 1 in favor of the Ketron. is the Genos 2 gona replace your Event?

Event najbolji izbor. Roland pretupo. Genos malo lošiji od Eventa . Ketron je zvučno uvijek na vrhu i mislim da nema u arranžerima konkuranciju u zvuku.

I think my tyros 5. is superior to all of these. the build quality especially. I returned the genos2 was a light weight plastic toy. I like the Roland in this video best

So you compare midi files sounds solution as you said first. This is not features of 3 keyboards compare

Genos 1.mjesto...ali samo zato jer je Digitalni ....izlaz zvuk je digitalni i zato ima širine Ketron Isto na broj 1 to svi znamo šta je ketron i zašto je napravljen nažalost Roland zaostaje malo... ali probajte stavit neku drugu glazbu 80 pa da vidimo zvučat če bolje nego ketron i genos skupa...

Thanks for that, but who is still using just GM? When you buy a midi file, you use the format that is specific for the brand/keyboard. This comparison is kind of useless, sorry!

Hello everyone! Don't be fooled! This video does not show the actual sound quality of the instruments, but only the GM SOUNDS! Yamaha works with XG sounds... Roland GM (that's why it should have sounded better) I don't know exactly the ketron, but maybe it's also GM... I would have listened to it in reverse... with XG sounds all three 😬 Yamaha does not use GM SOUNDS anywhere in their own style or setup. This is not a relevant video. If my instrument is a Yamaha, I don't buy a Ketron USB extension for it. There are Yamaha-optimized midis and programs for this. It's a nice thing from Yamaha that, although in poor quality, the GM (Gm2)tone family can still be found in it! Sincerely! Csaba Kiss
