I’ve owed one for over a year now and it’s a great amp. Super versatile. Probably the amp I’ve played the most at home for practice and jamming with tracks. Bass player in my band even uses it at practice to not lug his big one. Good stuff.

I have a THR10II Wireless and I love it! It’s the only amp I tried that sounds really good at low volume. Perfect for by-my-self-noodling without disturbing my family. Sounds amazingly big and spreads the sound in the room. The app is a must-have in my opinion. It opens up the amp and you can change and set up a lot of parameters and effects in a simple way. Perfect for me who don’t like computers.

i have had my THR 30 for a while now its a great practise amp especially if you buy the line 6 relay and go wireless , its a gamechanger for practicing just pick up guitar plug in and play no messy leads trailing, it also comes with basic cubase softwear you just plug amp into your computer or laptop and you can record , quality is good Only downside for me was price when i bought mine i could have bought a blues junior for about £100.00 more but the yamaha is a far better practice amp , hope this helps anybody thinking of buying one i would definetly recomend it

Thanks for the review. The THR series puts out fantastic sound at low volume. That's what gives it the edge, IMO, over other amps. Its one of the best desktop/bedroom amps out there (the Joyo DC15 is really good too, and cheaper). I had the very costly THR 30 and ended up with the THR 5. That 5 is plenty loud for a desktop amp. Anything louder, like an amp that can play with band for practice, save a ton of cash and get a Katana 50.
@theblytonian3906
@theblytonian3906 Жыл бұрын
I'm in agreement. Although the THR II series across the range are undeniably excellent, IMV their pricing/value is a triage elimination obstacle for many including me. Although they require a cab, as long as a valve hybrid is acceptable Joyo's 20W Bantamp series slay Yamaha's THR 30 II (& 10) in terms of value for those already having a cab or combo with an input deployable as such. I do. Yamaha's original THR 5 is reasonable value though, although I could buy a Katana 50 Mk II for around the same money when they're promo, or a similar alternative room//studio practice amp for a lot less as I did yet again recently superseding my original 5½ year old original V1 with another Blackstar ID:Core 40, the latest V3 with TRRS to phone live streaming capability and a stack of new features enabled through the new 64 bit Architect software.

They’re nice amps and sound good, but are they worth the price you’re paying? No. You could literally buy a tube amp with that money which is actually gigable. The VOX AC10, Marshall DSL20C, and Marshall Origin 20C cost around the same (in fact a bit less), but they sound so much better. Despite having a lower wattage than the Yamaha, they’re technically louder since you can crank them well above 3 o’clock, and not lose dynamics (which the Yamaha and most digital modeling amps lack to begin with, let alone when you crank them). Those 3 amps are actually gigable, reactive to your playing, and very dynamic. You get so much more out of them than the Yamaha. I remember being a kid and wanting an amp that could do it all because I was too cheap to buy effect pedals. I asked my local guitar store’s salesman at the time, what he thought of those, and he told me: “if the amp you’re buying is claiming to do it all, then it’s likely trash”. I didn’t listen to him and bought a Marshall Code 50. And let me tell you, that was a lesson I had to learn the hard way. Guys learn from my mistake, if you’re gonna pay that much, buy a tube amp, or a solid state amp that has an all analog circuit. There are so many amazing alternatives that cost way less than this gimmicky amp (not that it’s bad, it’s just not worth the money). A cheap alternative would be the VOX Pathfinder 10. Does it do everything? No. But does it do one thing really well? 100%. It’s got 4 knobs and 2 switches, but that’s all you’ll need. It’s incredibly dynamic, reacts to your playing and guitar’s electronics, it cleans up like a charm, and it has a really nice Overdrive circuit thank to its LED clipping overdrive/distortion. And here’s the thing, it’s around 1/5th of the price of the Yamaha. You could buy a few pedals and it would cost the same as the Yamaha, but you get much better sound quality.

The whole point of amps like these, and Loudbox, is portability. There are battery powered. I actually play it outside on the street for fun(not for money). You can throw in car when you go on a trip, etc. If you have a tube amp battery powered alternative, I’m all ears.

Your point is not wrong but I think you, like many others, totally miss the point to this amp :) I own 27 guitars, at least 20 effect pedals and 6 amps and this amp is what I use at home - not because it sounds better or worse but for me, after 50+ years of playing, convenience = more playing.

You didn’t check the headphone output. That’s a big benefit of a good modeling amp. Please check this (but I’m sure it’s fine on this Yamaha THR.) The low-cost practice amps or student amps of the old days had pretty crappy headphone outputs.

Curious myself about the THR30ii headphone and Line out tones if either have a cab sim or what. My best headphone tone is my super cheap VOX Amplug2 Classic Rock better even over the more pricey Mustang Micro. But I had a little VOX modeller amp (now gone to my daughter) and it's headphone out was terrible, VOX told me was a different circuit design and too expensive to make it sound better, even though it was 6x the cost of the Amplug. Tells me that VOX doesn't understand their own market and if they don't who will.

Did you like the distortion? I have the THR10X and i want one of these but some people are saying the distortion isn't nearly as good ast the THR10X. I want one of these to use so i can go from a clean sound to a distortion sound using the presets and an Airstep footswitch. I can't do that with mine. I would have to stop playing and physically hit the presest with my finger instead of my foot. But now that makes me think of something else. Will the sound be abruptly cut off when i switch presets or will the delay, reverb trails carry over on the THR30 ii?

What do these run? How much are the transmitters? Trying to figure out why I'd want wireless? Unless u gig, which I don't. Love the size! As an older guy I've just convinced myself modeling amps suck, and I prefer valve. Clearly technology isn't where it was 30 yrs ago!

Why would you NOT want wireless? I'm retired, have 27 guitars, 6 amps and about 25 pedals but I use this amp all the time because I can play it practically anywhere and I don't have to bother with cables and pedals. You will love the convenience and will play more guitar! The Airstep YT is a wireless footswitch that allows you to turn on/off compressor, effects and switch between presets.

Don't treat the master as a volume. The master needs to be around 7-8 for the amp to open up, and adjust the gain to your liking..if it is too loud adust the THR guitar knob...and if you play with the software then you'll get surprised.

@@landonbailey hey, since I got your attention, what's your honest opinion on the cost of this amp? Is it worth the $550 US price of admission in your opinion? Considering the fact the I just bought a Vox AC10C1 in BLUE from Sweetwater for $429 new, I was expecting a $300-$400 price. And if I was gonna buy one, there's no way I'd buy anything other than the 30. I'd buy a 50 if they made it!...affordable.
