I like the sounds of the Korg over the Yamaha on almost every sample. I own a Yamaha MO8. Thinking of trading.....
@ChrisGill11 жыл бұрын
Both keyboards sound great and shine in different areas! MOX8: Clean/Bright synth sounds. Drum patterns seem to be more 'current' according to current music trends. Organ sounds VERY nice! Krome: Much brighter piano sounds, which would do well for cutting through a live performance mix. Synth sounds are much more suited for being layered under a piano to add body. I'd go with the Krome, but that being said, both are amazing and I'm sure could be 'tweaked' to fit any situation!

I'm looking to convince my 'other half' that I need another keyboard and this was a great comparison. For me the Korg is a clear winner with generally a much more transparent and cleaner sound.

Overall, I find that Yamaha's sound are a rich amalgamation of sound, meaning the characteristics of Piano, Strings, Organ etc, are sort of blending with each other irregardless of the type instrument chosen. Korg on the other hand, has a rich diversity of sounds, meaning that the instruments are distinctively different from each other and the success of the blending depends on the choice of instrument. Korg is richer in its low keys, while Yamaha has a rich tone in its medium keys.

Right now i have yamaha mox8, which i use as a main keyboard and roland juno di as a second keyboard. My friend has korg krome And i borrowed it quiet a lot. So i'm planning to buy korg krome 61 because of some of their synth lead sounds, plus i find it easier to edit sounds and it gives more variety. Each of them has their ups and downs. Really Love these keyboards, but overall, yamaha is always my first choice. For me krome piano sounds very plastic and fragile. Yamaha has rich and warm piano sound. But that is just what i hear. After all, it all depends on our taste.

Albert Peka … Sounds about where I'm headed, using the Yamaha 88 for my core sounds and going with the KORG 61 as the non weighted top kb for additional sounds for a 2 tier gig & either one depending on the demands of a gig requiring only one keyboard... i've been the proud owner of both Korg and Yamaha KBs in different configurations as well as Roland gear too... and they all sound great in one way or another, or complement each other within a single rig...however as I said I do prefer Yamaha for acoustic and electric pianos and Hammond B3 sounds if you don't have a software B3.... i'm currently using the main stage Hammond B3 now and it's killer… I played The real deal back in the 70s and the main stage B3 is spot on… Except for the ungodly weight and the two Leslie's

I completely agree with you! As a producer I own for now Korg, but I intend to get the Yamaha Motif XS rack and the Roland Integra 7 sound module, that way I'd have 3 of the 4 major flavors for my sounds. Also, as a main controller and synth, I'd also like get the Kurzweil PC3K, so I'd actually have access to 4 major flavors of sounds and technologies and many different types of effects. Lots of power, sounds and effects for those who need many options for their creativity.

I have both keyboards , the Yamaha MOX8 sounds are more rich sounding no big surprise for a lot of you out there. The basic sample wave files in both of these instruments are likely very similar sounding. The differences in the sounds of these two keyboards, in many cases, can be attributed to the different settings of the filters and amplitude envelopes. Adjusting these settings could make them sound virtually identical.

I grew up on Roland stuff!!! no joke....but I must say that times do change and our venues as well.....we get older! hands down...YAMAHA is the GREATEST!!! They Ruled in the 70's with the "CS & GX" SERIES....The "DX"series was REALLY introduced in the mid 60's then reinvented and improved and fine tuned in thru the 70's as well and became SOVEREIGNTY SUPREME throughout ALL the 80's no matter the competition! every music video you saw in the early or late 80's was the YAMAHA DX-7. You did see the KORG M1 and the ROLAND D-50 and the ROLAND JX-8P as well.....but YAMAHA stood the test of time then....and it stands true to inspire and deliver even NOW! hands down.....ITS YAMAHA!

Pero no creo que usar directamente los sonidos de fábrica sea lo mejor, para eso tenemos multis o combis en donde podemos ajustar estos sonidos o juntar varios y darle la textura, el brillo o la calidad deseada. Both are really good with different flavors of sound. I cannot say that one is much better than the other, it's all a matter of taste, but both are pretty much in the same category of sound quality. I think the decision of which one someone should buy may rest on more than just the sound of the boards. I think what may sell one or the other is the other features and functionality they have to offer. As a producer I could easily use and enjoy both just as much.

Having a hard time deciding between the Krome and the MOXF8 (don't look at the MOX anymore, it's the MOXF you want, upgraded version). I'm mainly looking for piano and key feel. I still have and use my Korg Triton Pro so basically don't need more synth. My being used to the Korg interface is a huge factor, but not a deal breaker. With the Krome you can change sounds on the fly without the previous sound being cut off. Does anyone know if the same can be said about the MOXF8? My last 88 was the Roland RD-500 (weighted keys). Both the MOXF8 and Krome have different keyboard types. I need to take a road trip (2 hrs) to test them out one of these days.

If you aren't a professional but want professional performance and sound capabilities with a great feel to the weighted keys (not the sticky workstation type) with a budget under $2000, definitely the Krome.

When I listened to Yamaha's Piano at 2:24 vs Korg's Piano at 3:16 I could say that Yamaha has a greater sense of expression. Korg's sound is richer though. So if you are after the nuances of the player's performance I'd go for Yamaha, but if I am after for richer sounds, I'd go for Korg

I prefer the Krome out of the 2 but thought the MOX8 sounded good still. I was considering a Krome to replace my Triton Studio but a few missing features put me off, such as no ribbon controller or optical out. It also doesn't seem like that much of an upgrade, but more of a side step. Some of the sounds are a lot better than the TS but it hasn't persuaded me to change. I think I am going to save and get the Kronos instead as that is a massive upgrade. For now I'm happy with the VSTs I use.

I don't think this comparison is fair. You should list what sound amplifier you used for each keyboard (if not the same). The camera's microphone should be placed in a static place or in the same spot in both amplifiers. And also I don't think the voices are the equivalent from one keyboard to the other. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be an asshole or criticize your work, I really appreciate that you posted this video, I just wanted to point this out so that, if you think I have a point there, make a better review next time. Thanks for reading and keep the good work!
