je bent heel muzikaal! Dank ook dat je demo’s lekker kort zijn. Dat nodigt uit tot blijven luisteren. Dat doe ik dan ook heel graag!

Its not so much the synth sounds that matter for me, but I am honestly totally blown away with the FM-X engine. Having worked with both DX7-II and TX-802, its simply amazing what they did compared to the old DX-7 and SY77/99. Would never think you could get so rich sounds with FM synthesis. Its been many years and always thaught that DX-7 FM synthesis was mostly usable for methalic sounds and SY99 was just way weird sounding. The pads, brass, strings and also all the Motion controls. Its so fat .. mellow mid tone and bright and fresh sounding at the same time. I like the Kronos for its 9 engines and completeness as a workstation. Particulary the Berlin Grand is imo one of the best sounding pianos I have heard and being an old M1/T3 user the Kronos brings back good memories (its layout and design is much like my old T3 wich I still have with a display that is almost completely dimmed down), but sound wise .. especially when demoed by skilled players I might think some of the bread and butter awm2 sounds in the Motif sounds of the Montage.. eg guitars, wood winds and strings sounds more realistic than than the Kronos' special engines for strings and plucked sounds, and the CFX Grand also sounds fabolous. so hard to choose.

well played to show off the embodiment of each combo sound - thank you - this unit show Yamaha did the right homework in marrying quality sounds with well thought out effects to combine into lush and dreamlike sounds right out of the box. At my own personal peak of playing, I would experiment for hours trying to get those type of sound images, Yamaha now has made it that easy - NICE! I just can't afford 4,000 for a keyboard......EVER

Totally amazing! I have a Montage 8 and want to get more info on these and your other sounds. I wish/Hope Yamaha can find a way to expand its hard drive on their Synths/keyboards. I’ve bought a lot of their sound packs and have run out of hard drive memory and had to delete some. Their Montage 2 or however they designate the next generation needs to start with 4 or 8 terabytes (cf. Apple’s new MacBook Pro 16” notebooks that will take 8 terabytes). Better yet make the hard drive expandable beyond present standards. Just one thing on the videos…it would help if the print were in larger white letters and stay up a couple of seconds longer for old guys like me reading it off our iPhones. Keep up the amazing work!!!

You are SICK! Have been listening to this for the past hour and a half. Can't get over some of the sounds and some of the songs you are playing, especially at 14:50. Sick, for sure. I purchased a Montage 8, but it was too heavy for me to take to church and run it through the sound system. Waiting for Black Friday to see if Guitar Center will put the MODX on sale. If not, will still end up buying it, but it would be better on sale (as everything goes, right?). Definitely want to hear more from you. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. Totally, totally awesome!

I do understand you very well. I had also troubles to shlepp my MOTIF XF to gigs. MODX 7 can be carried under the arm. You can load Montage performances into MODX, and on stage the sound quality is equal. The MODX sounds a bit warmer, more analog to me than the Montage. I like it.

Lug it. I lug mine every single week and to practice. It's worth it and I am 60+. Actually found a decent soft case for it with wheels that helps a lot.

You playing awesome. Can't decide Montage vs MODX. Like the keybed of Montage but the weight of MODX

Weight and price clearly speak for the MODX 🤔

John

Great Playing and nice sound set. Have you gotten rid of the Kronos ? :) Currently looking for something new, and I am really stuck between Yamaha and Korg. Can't really decide How are are your thaughts on the Montage 8 vs Kronos 88 for the keys action ? I am not as trained Pianist as you, so was actually looking for The Montage 7 vs the Kronos, but since aftertouch is a gamechanger for me the Kronos LS is out of discussion so currently its a choice between the Montage 7 and a Kronos 73/88.

I'm 31 and have been practicing for a year now. Its frustrating trying to learn an instrument as an adult! Most of us learn slower than children do. Wish I could have learned when I was young because this all would be second nature by now.
