The test played some of the wide variety of instrumentals. There is a lovely track by Trilok Gurtu, a fusion of mujra with drums. This song also featured in the hindi movie DOR. I purchased these towers 5 months back and since then I have fallen in love with them. Not because of the 'love because of ownership' but because they are really great at their price point. Rs 13K (India) is something which cannot be challenged and look at the variety in sound reproduction. Video is clicked using a Canon SX 10 IS bridge camera mostly from the listening point (9 ft) and occasionally 1m from the speaker. The level is set to 30dbl (ref -85dbl to 16 dbl in the Yamaha RX v371 AVR). Bass @ +2 dbl, Treble @ +4 dbl, Straight Enhancement mode in AVR, 320 kbps (CBR) songs played through el cheapo LG DVD Player_digital coaxial_AVR_DAC 12 awg_NS8390.

Bass is good for my taste (country / jazz / accoustic / instrumental / rock). Though it produces every notes till 35hz, but it is not tight / punchy. For genre like trance / house you probably need a different set of speakers or add a subwoofer filled with 'punch'. It completely fills my 21 ft x 11 ft hall @ half the volume level with a 105 watt amplifier. Hope this helps.

Did you have a sub on during this video? It looks like a small sub between the stereo and the right speaker. I have a set of these speakers I bought 18 years ago.

Sound quality wise there is no difference between 371 & 471. The additional price you pay is for the additional features. Connection over HDMI & Coaxial / Digital are all same. They transfer digital information, so ideally all things kept same they should give you similar results. If by pure CD listening you mean , 'Straight mode' then its good compared to other similar priced AVRs. Note: you cannot compare it with dedicated stereo amps, which will any day give better results for CD listening.

Bangalore. RX V371 was around 20K but now it should be less. The only difference between RX V371 and RX V471 is GUI, additional 5w/channel power and a USB port.

Hi I plan to go for either RXV 371 or 471.Are you sure apart from the differences youve mentioned,there arent ny real difference as far as sound quality goes considering price diff is 6K !?Howz 371 when it comes to pure CD listening.Any suggestions how to set it up?digital or coaxial?I heard cd on 371 but the connection was through HDMI and didnt like it as all!ur suggestions will be very helpful :-)

+Zed Traffer Thats a track by an Indian artists Talvin Singh in collaboration with other foreign artists. Dont remember the track though.

Hi, I have a Yamaha RX V465 AV receiver which I want to use only for a stereo set up for music. What will be a better choice Yamaha NS 8390 floor standing or a book shelf like Wharfedale Diamond 220 ?

quality wise the wharfedale but then the low end will not impress you. With ns8390 the quality is not comparable but you get a holistic sound.

The big ones (7.5") are woofer. I guess you meant subwoofer ? No there is no subwoofer connected to this system. The woofers are sufficient for most applications.

Naveen you need an amplifier to amplify the sound coming out of PC.

No you cannot, you need a smplifier to amply the signal from TV.

No ...... .... It's hollow sound signature ...... Get at least pioneer FS52 ........ It's good performance and sound as good as 70-90k budget floor standing speaker ....
