This is my initial reaction review to the new version of probably the best entry level beginner keyboard on the market, the Yamaha PSR-E383 (the successor to the hugely successful PSR-E373). I will be doing an in-depth review soon, but wanted to get an initial reaction video out as soon as possible.

Hi, toney. I don't know if you had noticed, but Yamaha has put some upgraded drums into the styles. So I think that we may have a new drum kit in the voices list prior to the older moddles in the E3 series. Thanks for you're initial reaction video. Now, I am just waiting for Yamaha to release the E483/EW430 or whatever they will be called. Take care.

Great initial review - Good to see the reduced footprint of the E383/EW320. Always been a fan of PSR keyboards and have been considering the Yamaha PSR-EW425 and was wondering if there was an upgrade in the pipeline

Thanks! Yeah they are great products - the EW425 is amazing I own it as well; no idea when the new one is coming (the 373 was out a lot earlier than the 473/425). Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

I feel the new Roland GO:KEYS 3 and 5 beat the PSR-E series hands down. The Yamahas are essentially still the old style keyboards I was using when learning to play back in late 80s early 90s. They will not appeal to a younger crowd. At this point it's only the brand's recognition in arranger keyboards that sells them.

On paper I agree you can argue that. But in practice I prefer the Yamaha. I prefer their piano sample and lightweight action. I owned the previous go keys and the action was springy and not comfortable for my taste. Also every Roland product is always sold at some massive premium whereas Yamaha aims to capture the entire market which is nice for price conscious consumers.

There are definitely Roland fans and Yamaha fans out there lol. One thing I’ve preferred on the Roland’s is the true full size key width. But Ive always preferred the Yamaha sounds, and build quality. But like I say, everyone has their own preference they’re both great products. Should I buy this or Casio CT-s1?I have no previous music experience, I want to play piano musics, movie songs, pop songs..I’m confused too much…Casio is not available in my local market in India , and I’m feared to buy from online…please help…😫
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 8 күн бұрын
They’re both good beginner keyboards. The CT-S1 has a nicer keybed action, the Yamaha has more sounds, rhythms and accompaniment to play along with, and better recording features, so it depends what is most important to you. If you are a beginner and not sure I would recommend the Yamaha since it has way more features. Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

I listened to the end of your video Tony but I have to admit that I am not sure if I fully understand why you need it (with all the other keyboards you have). 😊
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 25 күн бұрын
Light, easy to carry, frees up space on the Hammond on those songs where I need an extra weird voice like saxophone, guitar etc (those voices are far better quality on the 383 than on the Hammond). And it’s super handy having it always hooked up in my practice area purely for rhythms to practice with.

@@PianoTone How about your Studiologic keyboard and DGX670, Tony? You should perhaps get a Yamaha or Roland synthesizer 😊 By the way, you KZfaq channel does not show any newer videos - only old ones
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 25 күн бұрын
I’m not carrying my DGX670 to band practices or gigs lol! The Studiologic one is basically my super portable option instead of the Hammond but even the cheap little Yamaha has better “other” sounds than either the Numa or the Hammond, it’s super portable and since it only has a stereo headphone out, that goes into the aux in on the Hammond and all sound goes through that to the mixer so I only need one channel still.

Can you determine if the weird issue of the sustain pedal not working correctly when used as a MIDI controller still impacts the 383 like it impacted the 373?
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 7 күн бұрын
Hey there! Just tested it and the issue is exactly the same Yamaha didnt fix it. But the good news is the workaround for the E373 works exactly the same as the E383! I’ll have an updated workaround video up within a week, but here is the E373 version I posted a year ago: Yamaha PSR-E373: Fix For Sustain Pedal Issues With MIDI kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hbBxZplpmZvSj4U.html Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

What's the difference between the 423 and 383?? I have an option to pick up a 423 for little over hundred. Is it worth paying more for the 383?
@PianoTone
@PianoTone 21 күн бұрын
The 423 is really old (2012?); multiple new versions have come and gone, current version is the E473. Might be a good deal for a cheap keyboard but the piano sound on the 383 (even though that’s the more basic product line) will be WAY better. If you mean E373 vs NP32 depends on what you want. If you just want to play piano, the NP32 key action is better. If you want piano and other sounds, rhythms and accompaniment then get the E373. Thanks for checking out the channel feel free to subscribe

As soon as I learn enough about how to use it ;). It’s got a massive amount of features a lot of which I haven’t even touched yet. I’ll probably do an initial reaction one first.
