Yamaha PSR-SX900 First Soundcheck

4 жыл бұрынToday I received the new PSR-SX900. Out of the box I recorded this short video to get an impression of the overall sound quality.
Compared to the PSR-S770/775 and even PSR-S970/975 the sound quality improvement is fantastic.
Even compared to the Genos it reaches almost the same level of sound quality.
Compared to the SX700 there are some great additional features:
Content:
More great Styles and Voices, The concert organ of the Tyros 5 is included as well.
Better speakers with better bass (50W vs. 30W)
Bluetooth Audio, you can playback your smartphone music via bluetooth with the impressiv speaker system.
Chord Looper, Vocal Harmony, VCM effects and more DSP's (8 vs. 5)
I prefer the handling of the SX compared to the Genos because of the Style Buttons.
It is easier and faster for me to change styles.

Das neue PSR-SX900 ist heute angekommen und ich habe direkt mal einen Soundcheck gemacht um einen Eindruck von der Tonqualität zu bekommen.
Verglichen mit den Vorgängermodellen PSR-S770/775 und sogar den größeren Modellen PSR-S970/975 haben die Geräte einen fantastischen Sprung nach vorne gemacht.
Die Klangqualität erreicht sogar annähernd das Niveau des Genos.
Verglichen mit dem SX700 sind hier einige zusätzliche tolle Features:
Tolle weitere Styles und Voices inklussive der Konzert Orgel aus dem Tyros 5, bessere Lautsprecher, Bluetooth Audio um das Handy mit dem Keyboard zu verbinden und die Musik auf den tollen Lautsprechern abzuspielen, Chord Looper, Vocal Harmony, VCM Effekte und mehr DSPs.
Von der Bedienung gefällt es mir sogar auf den ersten Blick besser als der Genos, da die Style und Voice Taster hier sind. Das Style einstellen geht hier also etwas schneller.

Thank you, I'm a Music School teacher and I was buying These two new Keyboards because the students who want to buy a new Keyboard should invest in the new System. The SX series is following the genos while the PSR-S series is a small Tyros. I have now a CLP-585, Montage 8, Tyros 5, PSR S775, PSR-SX700, PSR-SX900 and a Genos. Is there anything you would like to know or hear?

Un clavier très intéressant au prix abordable et si l'on importe dans la mémoire interne via le ''YEM''de nouvelles sonorités et de nouveaux kits de batterie (voices and drums) l'on obtient des styles plus performants qu'à l'origine. Une très bonne continuation musicale et vive la musique. 🎹 Theret jluc

Thank you for sharing. I just got the SX 900 about three weeks ago. I’m a little concerned with the master volume. It doesn’t seem loud enough but I don’t have a way of knowing. If I tried to play accompaniment, it seems to drowned out the keys when I try to play any type of music off the keys if that makes sense. Is there someway to make that part of it louder so the accompaniment does not drown it out?

Sorry, I don‘t understand your problem. You feel like the right hands volume is too low? Try to press the keys harder or reduce the volume of the style. If you feel, that pressing the keys so hard is uncomfortable, you can change the velocity settings of the keyboard.

Change the Global EQ settings. Add more bass and adjust the mid and treble to taste. The instruments will sound clearer and louder. Factory default is very poor.

How do the choir voices compare to korg? And does the sx900 have women voices of just the boys choir? It would be awesome if you did a video on choir voices

Hi F-30, thank you for your comment. Currently I don‘t use Korg instruments. Which model do you mean for comparison? The sx has both boys and women choirs. Women especially for Gospel like hmmm, woooow and so on.

Hi I have a psr 900 and the keys are so light and don't have a lot of depth when you press them down. I know you can adjust. What is this keyboard like please. I am wanting to purchase. Many thanks.

Hi @poppys pets, the keys are feeling much better. It still has no aftertouch but the quality of the keyboard compared to the psr-s series has been improved a lot.

Thank you! The keys are much better than on the older PSR-S 975 but not as good as the Genos or Tyros Keys. Touch screen is similar to Genos. It is good but not as good as an iPad. VH2 is similar to Tyros and Genos. Pretty good :)

Are we hearing the audio directly from the speakers or are you wired into your camera?

cinema104 it has been recorded internally via usb recorder and synchronised to the Video.

Long time guitar player and singer here looking to learn keys. Would this be a good choice for me? Want to be able to learn to play and then use this for gigs with vocals. Thanks

Hi, thank you for your question. I can recommend this keyboard for studying and for the stage. The question is how long are you planning to prepare the gigs? If you think about 3 years, you can think about buying a sx700 for practice And if you feel ready You can buy a higher model. In 2 years I would estimate the new Flagship Genos 2 to be released. In 3 years the next generation of sx900 probably. SX700 is enough for practice, sx900 is better for stage because of it’s superior Sound. (Amount of sounds, styles, quality of DSPs/Effects).

I like this Keyboard except for the saxophones which sound very like toys and cheap, especially when comparing them against the Tyros 5.

Thank you Aik for the great SX700 and SX900 demos. Do either of these arranger boards have song list capability, similar to the Genos? I would love to have a board that sets up the voices and style sections based on the title of the song that is selected.

Hi, Would much appreciate if anyone can let me know how individual instrument sounds on Yamaha PSR sx900 compare with MODX. I understand these are two different types of machines but just wanted to know how much difference is there in the quality if the instrument sounds themselves besides other features.

arqam home especially brass and woodwind sounds are superior on sx900. Piano, organ and Strings are about the same quality.

Aik Tan And what about the sound quality of the MODX as compared with the PSR SX700? Also, since there are no styles as such on the MODX, is there an alternate way to automate the accompaniment? And conversely, is there any mean of creating new sounds on the PSR SX 700 and 900 like for instance on a Korg PA 700 or 1000? Thanks.

Thank you! You need to change your fingering type to AI FIngered! Press "Direct Access" and ACMP. On the bottom left you can change the fingering type to AI Fingered. This should be your default settings. At 6:24 I'm playing C on B and this is a CM7/B.

The sound has been recorded with the internal audio recorder. The Keyboard can record wav files directly to a USB thumb drive.

@@darrylkirky Yes, if you use the audio recorder your vocals and harmonies will be part of the recording. If you record midifile vocals will be excluded.

Zeus I also miss aftertouch in this machine but the sound is really convincing. The sound is the most important aspect for me and this machine sounds much better than the competition in my opinion. If you need aftertouch you could buy the Genos.

I have just bought a SX900 and so far, I am not impressed compared with my Tyros 4, If this SX900 is suppose to be a mini Genos, It doesn't say much for the Genos

It is not the best idea to downgrade from a top model to a midrange one. Even if you get new content and effects you also lose some features. Here you will miss super articulation 2 sounds, after touch and the better keyboard. You should think about returning it. Even if the drums are sounding fresher now. The Genos is also in it‘s fifth year, if you understand what I mean.

@@Aikkiang Hello, Your right! Having received the SX900 90% of the styles are on my T4 along with the intros and endings, I can live without the touch screen and built in speakers. And as I said, if this is a mini Genos, I am glad that I didn't buy a Genos as I was thinking about it. My personal opinion is (For what it's worth) Is that the Tyros was the best keyboard Yamaha made and although Genos was suppose to be the bees knees, it's surprizing how many you see for sale on line second hand

@@chrystina5604 I really enjoy playing Genos. It has still a very superior sound. Compared with the SX900 there are multiple benefits in the top range Keyboard. Maybe the Tyros 5 was a bit easier to use, when you are not prepared with registrations or playlists, since the touch screen is a bit slower and has one more level than the buttons on the Tyros. If you think about upgrading I would propose to wait for the next generation.
