You cant get away from the fact that the pros with a sportbike is high horsepower performance thrills and looks. Cons with a sportbike is the ergonomics, low level comfort and insurance. It has always been sacrificing comfort for high peformance and then they released the R7. Low horsepower and low level comfort.

@@bearwolffish So does the MT07. Its also nice and light. And has much better comfort. Youre not understanding what Im saying. Before you could never get the sportbike engine in anything else but a sportbike, thats why some people built "street-fighters" out of their sportbikes to get some comfort while maintaining the same level of performance. Then came "naked" sportbikes from factory.. and then came this bike, the first sportbike without a sportbike engine, and thats why the R7 makes no sense.. I am sorry I am not hating on any R7 owners, let everyone enjoy their bikes but a R9 with the MT09 engine would have made so much more sense...

Just grabbed one new (so all options were on the table), even after watching tons of recent reviews giving it a hard time. Some factors that put it over the competition like 8s or 660, where it being a simple bike with several years in production, easy to source parts from a healthy aftermarket and well documented maintenance/upgrades/potential issues. Aggressive, but light with torque down low so fun even just stop to stop, weaving through a traffic filled city. Some say uncomfortable and weak, but I would say nimble with the power where I need it. Is a reason stunters and track guys love this as a platform.

The first bike topic is really subjective. For me, I wouldn’t have wanted anything less, but I also had experience riding dirt bikes which helps translate to street bikes. Also, at my age I know my limits a little better than I did when I was 18. I think this bike in general is teetering on too much for beginner given the torque and handling where something like an R3, Ninja400, and even a Ninja 650 would be a little more forgiving and easier to start on while still being tons of fun.

It isn't really the bike thats hated its the rider/owner/community behind it that is disliked... People pretending its a supersport because they put on a slip on, a "tune" and that it has a slightly aggressive seating position. Oh FAKE rizomas on top of that. Hell, most cafe racers have aggressive seating positions as well, may as well call them super sports while we are at it.
@snake_bitten
@snake_bitten 16 күн бұрын
That’s an interesting take. I think the term “supersports” is generally associated with full fairing sport bikes but everyone has their own definition…is an R6 a supersport in comparison to an R1? Personally I’ve never seen an R7 owner pretending it’s something it’s not, on the other hand all the butt hurt people seem to be projecting that exact idea.

@@snake_bitten Nah, supersports have always been 600 and 1000cc sportbikes/"supersports", r6, r1, cbr600r, cbr1000 with generally an inline 4, v4 or vtwin. etc etc. Been like this since the 80s. Oh man, are you not part of the motorcycle community? r7, cbr650r, rs660 (restricted), daytona 660 community online are all about acting like they have actual supersports
@snake_bitten
@snake_bitten 15 күн бұрын
@@UnmethicatedI’m certainly in the community enough. I guess I don’t understand what “pretending to be a supersport” even means. For example I never see anyone implying those bikes are faster than the counterparts? Outside of the engine comparison the R7, CBR650R, RS660, GSX8R, etc share MANY characteristics of a “supersport” so they share more than they don’t and there’s a reason that market has only expanded. The whole point of the video wasn’t to argue if it’s a “supersport” but more so that it’s still a great bike option if your know what you’re purchasing.
@mencibenci
@mencibenci 15 күн бұрын
it’s literally a supersport. just because it can’t hit mach 7 it’s still a track-focused bike with full fairings and an aggressive seating position, which is the definition of a supersport. cafe racers aren’t track-focused with fairings, you sound like someone who’s been riding for a month but thinks he knows everything, nice try tho, now sit down

Sorry for the rant to follow and the so vivid comment, no hate just an opinion, buuuut... It's the biggest DUD in the world, and not for the bike it self, but for what it represents. Yamaha stopped making the R6 and came up with the R7, people seem to forget to mention this little fact 🤔, which is the whole premise. Why call it R7? What relation does it have to the R (racing) series? NONE. So when Yamaha does this the of course should get all the hate it deserves along with the people that support it, and these people are usually new to the scene hence the simply don't know what it represents, hence why the never mention the R6. To understand the false in the logic listen to the comment in the video: "it looks like a crouch rocker it looks really cool" so you like the super sport but don't get a super sport LOL, no commitment, sorry I can not support this mentality. Its like me getting an R1 and taking the fairings off and putting a chopper steering on it and then saying... "It looks like a chopper its awesome". Each bike represent something, LEARN AND RESPECT. It might seem dramatic but, this could possibly represent the end of racing bikes if more companies follow this approach of "low emission crap". I think it is part of this stupid attempt to make bikes behave like cars. And rider that have no idea that stand behind this notion, makes me sad 😪
@snake_bitten
@snake_bitten 10 күн бұрын
That’s quite the novel…you obviously didn’t watch the video. At 15:15 I specifically said the hate stems from this bike being the “replacement” for the R6…so I did realize and make that exact point. And yes the bike does look like a “crotch rocket”….thats not really a point you can negate…it’s not false logic, it’s just a fact. It’s not an issue of commitment, this bike simply checked a lot of boxes for me, much like it did for the tens of thousands of other people who bought R7s. Also saying it’s the end of racing is not only incorrect but also a strange point to make seeing as this bike has performed extremely well in the twins class which has been around since 2015 in Moto America…twin sport bikes isn’t anything new exactly. Did you have this same energy when Aprillia released the RS660 in 2020, or are you just part of the butt hurt crowd because they don’t make the R6 anymore? Thanks for the engagement on the video though! 😂

The Yamaha R7: Your sister’s R1 That’s likely the intended demographic Yamaha was marketing this bike to. You can see this in some of the Yamaha marketing campaigns.
