After widening our Raptor 700R to 50 inches wide a couple years back with our Raptor 700RR Project, we realized that our Raptor was now ready for a substantial horsepower increase. Starting with Fuel Customs, a company known for making big horsepower gains with their intakes and air filter combinations, recommended that we run a Barker's Performance dual exhaust to match their intakes quest to increase overrev while carrying the Raptor's incredible torque curve farther. We paired the Fuel Custom's intake and Barker's Performance exhaust with a Dynojet Power Commander V fuel and ignition tuner to match the increase airflow of the intake and exhaust with added fuel. We also installed a Dynojet Autotune for creating new fuel maps for our future engine upgrades. The result was an added 11-13 horsepower, a broader power and torque curve, and a huge boost in fun factor for our Raptor's engine. We haven't been this impressed with an intake, exhaust, and air/fuel ratio upgrade on a sport ATV since we installed our first set of pipes on a Yamaha Banshee back in the 1990s. If you haven't ridden a Raptor with the Big-3 engine upgrades, you have no idea how fun the Raptor really is.

@@JBRAAPY most aftermarket pipe manufacturers have maps you can download for your fuel module. You can also get an Auto tuner for the Power Commander V. We would say you can probably get the best results tuning your fuel on a dyno as long as the person operating the dino is highly skilled.

same for a raptor 660.... you go from about 35hp to close to 50hp, with the right jetting and exhaust. very noticeable.

Actually, we would run the fuel customs filter for sure in the dunes. They offer more protection than a K&N according to our friends at CT racing and that style of filter works better in the sand. Film filters are better 4 dust or silt the tends to hang in the air. Whichever one you need there is a filter though. Thanks for watching.

Awesome material guys! my buddy has a bone stock '12 700r and I'm always racing him with my piped '03 Banshee, the raptor is really powerful and we are always neck to neck, now after seeing this video I gotta convince him to get the big 3 (and I will definitely get a +4 timing, reed valve and few upgrades for my Banshee :P ), however, my Suzuki LTZ434 is a different story :)

Great vid! Tho I don’t own a raptor I’ve always liked em. I ran a PC5 & auto tune on my ‘12 ninja abt 10yrs ago…& found it to be easier to just set the target air/fuel ratio instead of trying to “build” maps. If you set the AFR the ECU will adjust to hit the AFR targets based on what the o2 sensor is reading. It worked great & no need to try & figure out less or more fuel here or there in every cell. I think 12.7 is considered an ideal (balanced) AFR…so you can set that on the entire map, & increase fuel (lower number) in the higher rpm’s for more top end instead of trying to adjust every cell

I have a very similar set up on a 2015 700r SE. I used the big gun dual. On the 15-up the big gun dual requires no trimming or problems during install. Bolts on in 20 minutes or less. I also did carbon fiber bead locks. Big 3 lighter wheels 2 inches wider it’s a lot of fun to ride. Completely diff than stock. Great video 👍🏼

I had a 660. There is no comparison to the 700, power, handling, ergos are so different. I felt my 660 was really tippy and slow. The 660 aged quickly in my opinion. I guess Yamaha thought the same thing

Love that raptor motor. Lots of hidden power. The honda 700xx had a much better ride though. With big 3 I left my buddies high comp raptor 700 in the trails. That irs was something else

@@ATVonDemand Na, never did like a re-cap video. May think about it though. Been toying with the idea of bumping the HP but thankfully keep talking myself out of it. Don't need it, but more HP is always fun. I just hate to do anything to the engine as it is super reliable and low maintenance.

@@Team2Gils CT racing says they have an engine kit that puts out 72 horsepower reliably so it's hard to imagine any loss and reliability with external bolt-ons alone. Actually, richening up the fuel mixture will probably help it run cooler. We like to be added top end but we could just lug it like we did stock and in fact it was better down low.

@@jeffaquilino1806 been looking at the CT Racing head and cam package, also, Cuervo Racing specializes in Raptors so it would be worth talking with him on options as well. Not interested in dyno numbers however, would need increased in low and mid range. So far, I have successfully done nothing 🙂

i'm pretty sure a Stage 3 cam is more of a top end cam and we're not trying to build a drag machine. We've heard a mild cam and a little more compassion makes a noticeable difference but with 53-54 HP we'll gain more speed if we turn our attention back to improving handling. A ZPS shock setup to lower the quad a little will help it get through the turns quicker. Perhaps at that point.

I've got a trx700 that i'm planning on putting the same big 3 on, just with a different fuel controller. I feel like I'd mess up having so much adjustability as pcv. Im getting one that comes pre optimized for the barkers exhaust and intake. Also I don't plan on widening it. 45 inches means I can ride tighter stuff with my friends on bikes.

Big 3 plus a cam puts them in the low 60s hp to the wheels, around the same as a ported and piped banshee, but more torque. Pretty impressive considering the raptor isn’t ported.

Awesome video!! I have a similar set up on my 08 raptor 700r, wider a-arms, axle, elka shocks all around and the big 3 combo as well! Next you will need aftermarket handlebars and nerf bars, it really helps when driving them aggresively!

Is An Yamaha yfz.450 not more suitable for offroad racing? Since it is mean factory as an race quad? I also heard that an raptor 700 only has 46 hp and the yfz round the same number. I'm new in the sport and would like advice😃

The YFZ is closer to race ready in stock trim for motocross, and desert racing. It would be a better choice for high level cross country racing, B class and up. The Raptor comes at a suitable width for cross country racing. Its power comes on much sooner and is smoother across the RPM range. We think a Raptor could be a good XC weapon with a few small changes for beginners or vet racers. The Raptor has won the Dakar Rally more than once is would be a fat better choice for endurance racing like that. Both machines will be in the low to mid 50 hp range with intakes, exhausts, and fuel tuners. The YFZ450R revs faster but the Raptor has a ton more torque. The YFZR's engine and suspension prefer going fast while the Raptor is happy to rip down a trail or go for a casual cruise. If you start jumping big the Raptor finds the limits of its suspension sooner while the Raptor is plusher over rocks, roots and other trail junk. @@jeffaquilino1806 I have the empire single exhaust, fitment was perfect other than needing a longer bolt for the exhaust bracket, they also have a flanged connection to the pipe with a gasket , no leaks! Check out Quervo racing here on KZfaq where he dyno ran it along with some competitors.

@@ATVonDemand I've owned an 86 honda 250r a 07honda 450 and I still own a 06ltr 450 and I tell ya this the 250 by far was the best all around quad..hills, track, drag, and woods...BTW IF YOU KNOW ANYONE AROUND SOUTH CAROLINA THE LTE IS FOR SALE AND ITS COMPLETELY REDONE POWDER COATED AND ALL JUST LACKS LITTLE THINGS LIKE STICKERS ETC

I noticed some of you guys a bit bigger and I’m pushing 300 lbs looking at getting a 2022 Raptor 700r se. I have looked at Polaris options but want a true sport quad. Thoughts on suspension issues. First manual quad and newer rider won’t be hitting jumps or dunes anytime soon just trail

The stock suspension will carry you until you start jumping or trying to cover whooped out to rain at high speed. At some point when you're fast enough you may want to send the shocks off to an aftermarket suspension company who can put new Valving and Springs on the shocks for your specific weight. There are a number of companies out there that can help you with that when you reach that point. We don't blame you for wanting a sport quad that's what we own and ride ourselves. @@tombudziak3107 I repeat Yamaha has not changed the bike in years. You can ride a 2014 and hop on a 2021 they will ride and feel the exact same if they are both stock. They only thing they change on them is the graphics.... that's it.😂

I’m kind of stuck between deciding if I want a renegade 1000 xxc or a raptor. Since you’ve tested both can you tell me the pros and cons of both? Thank you.

We need to do a video on this and we will. Here's the short answer. Raptor 700R, Pros, lighter, more nimble, rider has more control over the machine, easier and more fun to jump, better in whooped out terrain, better duner, better on a MX track, most likely faster on typical twisty wooded trails, easier to work on, no CVT belt, will break less if you ride it hard, less expensive to buy, will most likely hurt you less if you wind up underneath it. Renegade Pros, 4wd, better mudder, better rock crawler, more ground clearance, maybe a little faster in a drag race, fast and fun on twisty trails, a little easier to ride but not for beginners, it's 4x4 class legal for XC racing, no clutch to cook for prolonged low speed riding although you WILL need to run the Renegade in low range to protect the belt. It seems like the list is a bit longer for the Raptor but if you are interested in doing more of that the Renegade excels at its the better choice. Now, for a similar price as the Raptor, Can-Am makes a Renegade 570 in case you weren't aware. Any further questions, hit us back.

What does the steering stabilizer actually do?

It's basically a shock absorber for the steering. They don't have much effect on how stiff the steering is but abrupt impacts that would jerk the bars out of your hands or just simply transfer a spike load into your arms are dampened. Your suspension has Springs along with oil and valves that dampen how quickly the shocks can compress and rebound. Think of your arms as the Springs in the steering and the steering damper as as the hydraulics that only let the bars turn so fast. You will never turn the bars by hand as quickly as an impact with a rock, root, or tree. Even smaller impacts from breaking bumps that impact one front wheel more than the other are greatly filtered out. We have no working relationship with any of the damper companies and will tell you honestly given The choice we would not ride a sport quad without one.

The Fuel Custom's intake with airbox retails for $325.00, Barker Dual exhausts are $816.00 and the Dynojet Power Commander V is $375.99. We can't quote a labor price for labor. Check with your dealer or mechanic.

I did the big 3 on my 18 raptor 700r with no experience whatsoever. The place i ordered the powercommander 5 from had it premapped for my fci intake and my big gun dual exhaust. Air intake was a slight pain but everything else was a breeze.

If wheelies are all you're after you could probably stick with the 660. If you want an engine that will hold up better to power upgrades and has far superior handling then you would like to 700.

Fuels Custom's wanted us to test with the Barkers for best results in our test. They obviously wanted us to have the best results possible and he has tested a LOT of exhausts on his dyno so We'd go with the Barkers over the BigGun based on his recommendations and how impressively our machine ran.

For playing with your friends on a small track, sure. For trying a couple of races on a relatively forgiving track, yes. If you are a young racer and there is a youth class that will allow you to race a 250cc machine then it is a machine you can learn on. For serious racing at any level there are better options. For any class up to 300 cc's we would go with an old Honda TRX250X or 300EX. We have seen 300 4-stroke classes allow up to 200cc 2 Strokes which would allow you to race a blaster. Four classes up to 400 CCs a Suzuki Z400 or Kawasaki KFX 400 would be our first picks. If it were 450 or up we would be racing a Yamaha because parts are easy to come by and they have Proven Winners in all disciplines of racing. All of the aforementioned models still have lots of aftermarket options fir engine, chassis and suspension. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of options out there for the Mojave. Cool machine though. The Mojave was the 4-stroke ATV that dethroned the Suzuki quadsport lt230 as the top four stroke sport quad in the mid-eighties.

Why dual exhaust? There not as good of a power gain when compared to a single exhaust like rossier or monster. Of course this only applys to 2015 and up single port exhaust.

From what we have been told, the duals have an advantage in the dual exhaust port models in top-end power and overrev. No doubt low end was improved as well. That being said, if we wanted the broadest powerband it seemed like the Barkers were a good way to go. Yes, there are other good pipes out there.

If you like your 400ex and you just want better suspension with more power. But a clean used trx450. I grew up on 400s and now have 2 trx450s. The 450 is just an upgraded 400. The raptor has reverse. But it’s not a Honda. Those 5 letters in Honda are worth every penny

I need a headlight because i trail ride. Ill probably keep look for a trx450 because im loyal to honda but i was just wonder what everyone thought about the raptor

@@mysteryman3255 The trx700 are nice. But that rear suspension gets expensive. When I was your age I rode everyday and could barley keep gas in the quad. The 450s have a lot of aftermarket support. My 2008 trx450 has over 500 hours on it and I did a clutch and the valves

I've taken my 700 with big 3 on the mx track a few times. I think I'm doing good until a 450r or yfz comes on, then I realize how big and fat that thing is.

450s have more of a handling advantage. Not so much in the power department. That's why we widened our Raptor before we performed one power upgrade.
