The decline of the Japanese manufacturer, which has been the strongest manufacturer in MotoGP, is very striking. Despite concessions to make improvements, they were warned they would have to make new progress by at least 2025. Therefore, Yamaha is advised to change the engine to V4.

This is far too little... FAR TOO LATE...! Unfortunately, It is my personal opinion that Fabio will continue to languish in the mid to back of the pack in both Qualifying and EVERY Grand Prix' for the foreseeable future. 😢

who knows maybe Yamaha works on a 850cc V4 for 2027?

I think that's the most likely time to change to a V4, unless they can make a 1000cc one in the meantime which would have enough in common with a future 850 version. But they are saying with the 850cc bikes everything will be smaller on the bike itself. I'd like to know what they have in the works, but realistically it seems they will struggle until 2027 to have a competitive bike again.

Honda has had a V4 for over ten years and before that a V%. Look where they are now. It's not the motor at Yamaha. They have turned down the power a little bit this year to try and gain cornering . They need new kit and lots of testing..

It seems to me they are way behind with aero and electronics, until they have that sorted a V4 could just create more issues, there are a lot of changes that would have to be made for a V4 to be used, new frame etc. so they'd be almost back to square one.

the yamaha in-line 4 cyl. needs the off-set the cylinders so the crankshaft is past top dead center when the piston is at top dead center..

In the 2-Stroke era, all bikes eventually had V4 engines. In the modern era, only V4s feature on the podium today…Suzuki left MotoGP and Yamaha is nowhere near competitive with a cross plane-inline 4. Honda has simply lost its way…

They have apparently been testing a v4 since late 2020, but it means a whole new bike, not just a motor.

There are no rules limiting the power in MotoGP. In WorldSBK there is.

@@gbone7581 then how tell me this 🤡 if both engines have same hp how's the v4 pulling away from the inline4... from the start of vtwins any v configuration Engine bikers have always known that v engines are better on torque but the inline4 always destroys it in Top End so what's changed if both are same HP. Why from factory panigale v4r is allowed 220+ hp. While Zx10r Gsxr1000 R1 Cbr1000rr only allowed Max 208 hp.

To me,honda and yamaha are now the also rans,with ducati hogging the front with aprilia chasing hard on their tails,yamaha has been slipping slowly backwards for years,they need to either go for a "v" engine or stop racing it's outdated inline 4 and come up with something radical to change it's fortunes,honda being honda thinks it's the bike not the rider that wins,true to some extent,but not today.who knows,they may just be working on something radical behind the scenes...

It's difficult to tell what the comparative performance is of the different makes with the rules. The rules are part of the problem. That said, a V4 would require a shorter crank which would have less issues with harmonics. The V configuration might also favour packaging with improvements to moments of inertia and aero. But then the rules would be changed to negate it.

Yamaha and honda should pull out of MotoGP, they don't have a customer base that is buying a 35k street bike. Honda has so many more problems than Yamaha, but MotoGP has become an engineering showcase and that's not Japanese customers. Let MotoGP become the Italian/German race series - invest more in wsbk and put what they learn to the street.

A mix of complacency and having riders like Marquez and Fabio who could ride around the shortfalls and still win. It's a long time since either has had a competitive package, shown by the results of the next best rider on the machine after their top rider. Honda's down turn goes right back to when they had a bike Pedrosa could no longer ride to the top positions.

I hope they make the inline engine work. I also hope with the new rules they are allowed a maximum of four cylinders. That might encourage a Vee three. Diversity in MotoGP was an awesome part of the early 2000’s.

It's so difficult to make the best and worst motorcycle. The Honda has no chassis and the Yamaha has no engine. Today the perfect set is Aprilia.🇮🇹

Honda telah salah memilih raider mereka karena telah mempercayai luca marini & joan mirr. Karena keduanya kemampuan untuk mengendalikan Honda tidak bisa. Honda telah rugi besar tidak bisa mempertahankan marc Marquez. Marquez ke team manapun pasti akan juara, apalagi sekarang dia berada di motor tercepat di MotoGP saat ini meskipun berada di team satelit,tapi kualitas nya memuaskan. Marquez terbaik

Not for now, 2027 will be the good start , new rules new engine and Yamaha knows that, why focus on rules applicable for the next few years only? well, for sure yamaha already started working for motoGP 2027 and they are just silent about it. Well, they are not Ducati whos business revolves around high CC bikes. Yamaha got lots of bikes, starting from small scooters upto the R1.. winning or lossing in motoG, is not a big slap, we all know that Dorna allows cheating in MotoGP so whats the point of that racing competition? bitter watch WSBK than this MotoGP shits. Kawasaki and Suzuki did a good decision for not shelling out big funds for a shit competition like MotoGP perhaps, they can create a killer bike even if they dont join MotoGP. Well, just beg Ducati to create their own bike that will slaughter the mighty H2R.

@@macsmith6216The youth , generally , have no interest in these bikes. Honda and Yamaha make their money selling commuter bikes that are fuel efficient and practical. Ask any of those CEO's.

@@macsmith6216 Remove the old tech dinosaur engines and replace with hybrid powertrains. Get rid of the aero. No restrictions on the electronics , like they have now. The new bosses are going to do just that and the Japanese manufacturers will support them.
