I'm very impressed by the amount work you put into these guitar reviews. Very few other reviewers bother to create a mix to show off the sounds of a guitar which is a great way to hear what the instrument can do. Great work.

As I said somewhere else, Yamaha as a company never fails to deliver. Whether it's guitars, pianos or motor bikes everything is top quality.

Seems like most Japanese products are well designed engineered and built ,they have a reputation a bit like the Germans with fine engineering.its quite a crossover from high performance engines to finely crafted instruments.l find it hard to understand how the price of made in USA can warrant such a high figure when quality wise l think Japanese products are on a par at least.

The Revstar sounds so versatile, especially given the price. I've watched a few videos about it and it's range is incredible. Looks like another one for the wanted list...

I upgraded my squire tele for a revstar standard. IMHO, the more you play the Revstar the more it grows on you. I think a lot of us have a Fender / Gibson bias, but this is an excellent guitar. It brings something new to the table.

Great demo. Really tempted to get one of these. I've always liked the look of them and now that they are lighter with a slimmer neck, that would suit me down to the ground I think.

Wow that's a beautifully emotive demo tune, you keep topping yourself! The Revstar certainly brought the inspiration. If I pull the trigger on a humbucker guitar again this Red Copper Revstar Element has to be top of the budget list, priced at a crazy 'good for what you get' $650CAD. I don't see the need for the Standard models at $1000CAD, over these Elements, and these out do the Epi SGs in my mind too.

Thanks John, you really sold me. I've been eyeing these since they came out and every site has great things to say about this one and the standard but this guitar seems to be the best, good show and picking. Peace 🕊️

Love those Revstar's. They have a modern look, so I Imagine they will really catch on with younger players. They're fairly affordable, and well crafted. The stainless steel frets offered on some models is an attractive feature that most guitars in that price range don't offer. Cheers from just north of Detroit, Michigan! I have a couple of your coffee mugs that I use every day.

IBased in John’s reviews, I sold my Gibson Les Paul with P90s to get the Sire S7 but the neck wasn’t as nice as a Pacifica 212 so sent the Sire S7 back to get the Pacifica 611. I also had trouble seeing the fret markers on the S7. Apart from that it was a lovely guitar. However I’m thinking about a Revstar but have the money for a standard. But based on this review the elements version would be good enough for me.

Awesome Demo/Review as always. Thankyou. Very interested in Getting a Revstar as my first guitar is my 1980's Yamaha Acoustic. I also picked up a Pacifica second hand Bargain with a Vox Amp. Did not have any expectations but The Pacifica has become a favorite as is my Old Yamaha. Yamaha are just good. Cheers

Awesome. Cool Demo/Review Thankyou. In Australia we have RS 320 as 'entry level' at about $499- (about 3 pounds lol)and This RSE20 is about $800-. I am a Yamaha fan after having a Yamaha Acoustic since 1984 and more recently a bargain 2nd hand Yamaha Pacifica, which is an amazing guitar. I hope to get a Revstar soon. Cheers

I'm hearing Good things about these new Revstars from all quarters. Like you I'm fully equipped in the 2 H department. Yamaha build quality is very high for the money, my PAC 611VFM attests to that. Another guitar in that price bracket that might interest you is the Gretsch G5232 with or without the T I got one just recently and it was a Revelation, bright but still humbucking. Full title : G5232T Electromatic Double Jet FT with Bigsby It was the lowest priced Gretsch that still sported Filtertron pickups. Any lower in price and it's Broadtrons all the way down. It reaches tones that other guitars just don't seem to be able to.

Thanks for the review John, I know someone will come along and tell me, do Yamaha make a bad musical instrument? My pacifica 112v budget played straight out of the box, the action was spot on and tuning more or less spot on. The fretwork was excellent. It certainly didn't feel or sound like a £220 guitar. I bought a low end digital piano, couldn't argue with quality and sound, certainly for the money. I now have a mid range acoustic piano, I just can't fault their build quality and playability. You might have guessed, I'm a Yamaha fan. I think that they are totally underrated guitar that many people, particularly new players overlook. They say that you get what you pay for, I don't think so, with Yamaha you generally get more. Brilliant review, as always.

Wow, what a range of sounds; what a beautiful guitar. Thanks for the thorough review John - I'd buy one today if I had the pennies. I've never understood why Yamaha so often gets overlooked in favour of the big American brands. As far as I can see, Yamaha produce good quality instruments at reasonable prices. I have a couple of Yamaha acoustics (steel & nylon) and found both of them to be reliable, dependable instruments neither of which broke the bank. I'd love to have one of the Pacificas (311, 611, 612) or a Revstar but, alas, funds don't permit. Cheers John.

Wow, John, I don’t think I’ve heard you get that enthusiastic about a guitar in a long time. If the Epiphone ‘61 SG comes out better than that it will be a helluva guitar. Amongst all the other good features of the Yamaha I like the way they have tweaked the proportions compared to version 1. They look terrific. I don’t really have a gap in my guitar arsenal but I’m going to have to try one of the P90 versions. Let’s hope I don’t like it or my credit card is in trouble!

Great sounds! I agree that a guitar that feels lively & responsive while you are playing it sure seems to translate that into the amplified tones. (If it were me.... I'd be picking this Revstar over the SG from what I'm hearing.... playability, I think, I would also prefer this over the Epi from my past experiences...but I have to admit, I haven't tried the newest versions though.)

Hi John, i actually own several Yamaha products..being motorcycle, acoustic, electric guitars and piano /Synths..they never let me down a bit. I've always being a fan of Yamaha. They are quality wise at least at same level as USA products. This color Revstar " Red Copper" is at Thomann sold out and only available within a few months. Pricewise again top at 479 € and they even come with Elexir Nanoweb strings. One thing..only 4 colors, being white, black and..NEON YELLOW ?? Greets from Belgium from Tokai SG buyer.

It might be my eyesight but the saddle positions look odd which makes me wonder about the intonation. As taken with the Revstar as I am I don't know if I want to replace the poor intonation on my current guitar with similar issues. I still can't wait to find a store near me that has a LH version that I can try.

Who'd have thought they'd be as good at making guitars as they are at making motorcycles these Yamaha chaps...I have a sneaking suspicion the SG is going out the door, altho, without having played them both, I am more partial to the SG...looking forward to see the mystery solved!

Has it's own unique signature. Hard to wrong with the cost. I still have to say though John that the sound is a bit anemic clean. Needs a good Amp/pedal to really shine it seems. Jap SG?
