I’ve just tried one of these in a guitar shop. Everything about it was top notch. Endless sustain and a beautiful sound (I only play clean tones). One of the best electric guitars I’ve ever played.

Super demo. I love the idea of the focus switch. Most guitars are too bright for my taste and I usually end up rolling off the tone control, which is not always the best solution, but the focus switch appears to add depth of tone whist cutting the highs. Lovely!

Thank you so much. I agree, I like the treble backed-off and the miss and lows boosted. This is exactly what the focus switch does. It's also one heck of a killer guitar.

Great playing and video. I’ve played this model in the humbucker and p90 version and found with both that the focus switch can make the tones way too deep for me , particularly with the humbucker model . Beyond that they are fabulous guitars and I played a PRS DGT SE at the same time and the Yamaha for me had more going for it . Problem is like someone else commented I’d like to have both humbucker and p90 versions 🤣

They're all around 8lbs. I've seen several listed on Peach Guitars where they weigh each guitar. Heaviest was 8lb 3.5oz. Lightest was 7lb 15.5.

Very nice. Stainless steel frets? Cool! The wood finishes of the 720b are not available anymore I guess? Do you think the ira vibration treatment of worth it for the pro model? Thank you

Hi Russ, The stainless steel frets do make a big difference in the tone and playability. I'll miss the flame-tops and hand-rubbed finishes too. They were so distinctive. I can definitely hear a cleaner, more open tonality on the IRA treated guitars and perhaps the carbon in the body also changes some of the sound. Without a direct comparison I'd hate to say if it's worth it or not. But I do know that this standard model is a ton of guitar for the money.

@@robbiecalvoguitar The sunset burst color maybe is a way to get a nice wood grain finish in the new models. Looking forward to your review of the pro model The standard models do seem a really good way to get a good quality stainless steel frets guitar at a great price. I got stainless frets on my guitar $400.

Hello! I just checked out both these guitars at Yamaha Music Square... just curious to know why does the RSS02T has 'springy' pickups? There is a significant amount of displacement when you push the bridge pickup down. What is the logic to it?

Excellent playing from Robbie to say the least! I hope the finish on this guitar is brushed like the previous model, if so it's going to be at my place as the previous models are quite heavy, at least the higher end ones are.

Thank you Chip. I also like the simplicity of the Element and previous Gen "Dry Switch". However, using the focus switch in conjunction with the position two "out of phase" pickup selection s my favorite tone on the instrument...adds that sweet spot sustain I look for in an instrument.

Great demo Robbie, does the Standard also have the body Carbon Fibre strips under the bridge. Lovely guitar just a shame about the coulours pretty uninspiring. Great playing though 👍🏻👍🏻
