Hi Cesar. I'm really on a downer now. I Unboxed my guitar this morning to find the action is sky high. I'm taking it to my local music shop later and it will be away for a week for a proper set up at a cost of sixty pounds, and that's without the new strings I have put in the bag. (Elixer Nanowebs - my favorites) What a choker. I just don't want to mess with the saddle of which I am pretty sure needs shaving. I'll just have to watch your videos and take comfort that soon I will be able to produce that wonderful sound this guitar produces.

Hey Dan,,, sorry to hear that... usually a slight touch to the truss rod can make it... I have several videos with set ups but if you don't feel confident enough to do it , then what you did taking it to a professional is the right thing... I am sure you will enjoy it very soon!

Hi Cesar, loved your accent. Great video for SLG200 Owners. I just bought mine. I love everything about it except the buzzing. It buzzes when you move you finger from playing one note to another, in another words when you play series of eight notes. factory set up action not lowered. I can live with the higher action but buzzing bothers me. any recommendation? Thank you

Great video. All the information I was looking for, and interesting too. My action is 3.4mm at the 7th fret, which is 40% too high!!! So now I wonder whether it’s worth a trip to get the saddle filed down a millimetre. Anyway, gracias, César.

Great video! Where can I get replacement bridge parts for the SLG200S?
@Skkyyyyyyyyyyy

I just received my SLG200S! It plays and sounds magnificent!! My question is, the B string seems to be noticeably louder than the other 5. So much so that when amplified, the high E is drowned out by the B. Could this be a pickup issue? Could it be that it needs to be setup (truss adjustment)??? Or could it be bad strings??? I’m not a fan of the strings it came with, and plan to use Elixirs. Thank you so much for these videos. They helped convince me to purchase this guitar!
@CesarAllGuitar
@CesarAllGuitar 5 жыл бұрын
Hello! First thanks for the nice comment! As you describe the issue, in my opinion ( and without seeing the guitar ) it could be a bad string, a poorly cut nut or saddle, or a piezo issue ( the piezo underneath the saddle )... Try adjusting the relief with the truss rod, changing th strings and let me know if it is not fixed,,,

Thanks for your videos Cesar - I appreciate your enthusiasm. I'm a beginner and mainly interest in classical. To avoid driving my family crazy I've starting playing an SLG200N. I've not messed with the set up yet as I'm not comfortable enough to know what is right for me yet - one day I will. One thing I have had issues with is the buttons (on/off and tuner). They rattle with the resonant frequency of the high E sting! I have had to put small rubber bands around them (from my daughter's retainers) to stop them buzzing. Not heard about this anywhere else. Have you had this problem? Otherwise I really love the guitar.
@CesarAllGuitar
@CesarAllGuitar 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your comment. No- I never had that issue but my silent nylon is the former generation, SLG 120 NW... One thing- beware of the fretboard in your guitar- my SLG 120 NW has the same dimensions than a classical guitar but the 200N is narrower... you might find it weird if you transition to a " real" classical guitar... thanks again!
@RogerHyam
@RogerHyam 7 жыл бұрын
Yes I thought about the narrower fret board and I didn't think it was too big a difference but we shall see.

Just to follow up my own comment: The buzz got to me so I took the guitar back to the shop. They sent it to Yamaha UK. It came back 2 weeks later with the exact same fault (they said they had tightened the boards inside). The shop were a bit disappointed so they sent it back to Yamaha and within a week Yamaha had sent me a brand new guitar! It felt a little odd as I'd been playing the original one for 10 months and got attached to it - but now I have a new one so I can't complain :) As for the width - the nut is 50mm. My regular classical guitar is 52mm. So about 4% narrower. Traditionally they say classical guitars are 2 inches which would only be 50.8mm - less so the silent would be less than 2% narrower. It is noticeable though even for a beginner like me. It is invaluable for practicing at night though.

I own a SLG100s, a SLG110S just purchased an SLG200S and I am surprised at the very very high action, had to shave about 40% off the bridge saddle. Why make guitars that way.It is insane. Also of interest to some, contrary to the SLG110S and the SLG100S the neck has a different thickness that makes handling the guitar very different. Mixed that with a very very high action I would hate to be trying to learn guitar on that contraption right out of the box. It needs a lot of adjustments.

Hi Cesar.My guitar came back with the action sorted but the B&E strings are quiet compared to the rest and take harder picking or pulling to get the desired effect. I think I asked you before about this, I have the SLG200s as in your video above. Can you tell me what your suggestion was again. Many thanks From Dan.
@CesarAllGuitar
@CesarAllGuitar 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Dan! You need to put a small shim ( very very thin ) underneath the piezo ( The piezo, not the saddle ) in these two strings so the saddle makes a better contact with the Piezo. Is something very frequent. Sometimes I use small pieces of paper and I place them where I have the problem , always underneath the Piezo, never the saddle. I hope is clear. If not let me know. Best C

Dear friend, In my Yamaha silent SLG100N the sound of the E string are good , B, G,and D also, the A is little less but acceptable , but the E bass gives less sound and even if i hit my finger tot the suddle up tot the E bass I hear less noise ! I never sand the sadle, so please tell me, I need to replace the piezo under the sadle ? Maybe can be another reason ? Thanks a lot - Vince
@CesarAllGuitar
@CesarAllGuitar 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Vince, I think is a Piezo issue, the piezo does not make good contact with the saddle...Try a very thin piece of paper underneath the piezo so it pushes it towards the saddle....

Always love your vids Cesar. I know the oiling of fretboards is a dodgy subject and a year ago i bought a Larry Corsa Les Paul. I asked Larry whether i need to oil the FB and what he said may surprise you. He said its not “necessary “ as the builder goes to great lengths to extract all the moisture from the wood before its used. He said if you want to once a year is all thats needed. However i have oiled it but only sparingly and definitely not frequently. www.corsaguitars.com/gallery/man-063/

@CesarAllGuitar 8 жыл бұрын
+Simon Bradbury Hi Simon! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! With all due respect to the gentleman, the Rosewood in the Fretboard is a 100% open grain wood. It will always take/give moisture. In fact, if you leave your guitar in a very dry environment you will experience that the fret ends will become "sharper" and it is because the fretboard has shrunk... Oiling once a year/twice a year is what I do (as I said in the vid ) and what I have been also taught by my professors at the RSM many many years ago...but I don't intend to convince anybody - just sharing what works for me. Thanks Simon!
