Awesome bikes, both of them. Love the looks of both, but that t7 in red is sweet. Better suspension, electronics, a rack, more power and longer fuel range are the ktm's advantage. And damn you yamaha for putting a yz seat on your adventure bike. It would suck getting the T7 and having to buy another fuel tank right out of the chute to get proper distance. Ymi could have nailed it here but without a stock rack, tank, and adventure seat, I might as well get the ktm that has it all stock. finally we have actual mid size adventure bikes built for real on/off road long distance exploring.

In some unlucky European countries (Denmark) the price difference between the two is over 8000 Euros. That is a huge amount of money for many and could buy much luggage and protection and still have change for a summer trip or two. Especially if the T7 provides a decent package out of the box.

Awesome review!! I owed the KTM 790 Adventure R and I love it, but the Yamaha Tenere 700 looks like a very sexy bike as well. I think you are correct. It's depend of the intention of the rider. If you looking to ride more offroad the KTM have better suspension, better balance and better turning ratio. The Tenere looks very capable offroad as well but I think the intention is for long rides and some casual offroad... The other thing you forgot to mention was the electronics differences between the two. The KTM 790 Adventure R have a few mapping that can help you on different situations. However you need to learn the mappings to get a full benefit of it otherwise it can be a little confusing. Again thank you for take the time and provide us with a great review. Have a bless day!!!

I am definitely did riding on my motorcycles... ;-) I understand your concern about the electronics on the KTM 790 Adventure R, but please don't let that drawn you back to consider the KTM 790 adventure. It is definitely an amazing motorcycle. The TFT display is extremely user friendly and you can make changes on the fly as need it. Once you play with it a couple of times them became a second nature. I am not trying to be bias with the KTM 790 Adventure r because I own one, but is my honest opinion. I am also owned few other street and offroad motorcycles and I am what you call an old school rider that I learn how to control a motorcycle with simple basics of throttle control and body position. So please think that this bike will only help you to be safer... Cheers!

I think the number of people watching this video is an indication of the high level of excitement for mid-size bikes of this type, especially the Tenere 700, which is not even available here in the U.S. yet, but is highly anticipated. Thanks for the video mate. Does it comfortably sit on the open road on 100-110kph? or 60 mile Does it have enough power to overtake at that speed no worries? Could it carry a passenger ok?

OM...thanks for the time and effort at a very good review. Let me say up front I am a KTM fan. I currently own a 2005 950 Adv-S. I'm 192cm tall and I am patiently waiting on the Tenere to come to the USA. My test ride of the 790 was very disappointing for my body build. I felt I was 'folded up', as if I was on a sport bike. Ergonomically, the bike is probably a perfect fit for my 173cm tall wife. It just feels compact and cramped and I don't think bar risers, taller seat or lower pegs would fix it for me, as those additions would with other bikes. The engine is classic KTM... course and feels like a race car, rather than smooth. Since eclipsing 50 years in age, I am searching for a manufacturer to deliver a light adventure bike that is too my liking and the 790 is not it. Hoping the Tenere 700 will make me happy. .....But come on, Yamaha.... late 2020 for a '21 model. Can't you move faster!!!??? Forget about making the bike happy for California emissions and send it to the other 49 states!

I kept my DRZ. 790R is not in the same class, can’t do single track or motocross as well but will keep up with crotch rockets on the curves. Quick shifter, cruise, and Bluetooth are very nice if you haven’t tried those. 790R is an adventure bike that won’t bottom out off-road and will eat up highway miles to get you there.

Just adjusting the T7 suspensions, the heigh and distance of the bakes and the handelbar position, it's a total diferent bike from how I picked from my motorcycle dealership. I'm really impressed how easy and fun it is, and how fast and safe you feel ridding really fast ON as OFFROAD. And please hurry up on your crashbars and pannier suports!!! I NEED THEM!!!

Thanks for summing it up. I believe the T7 can be more customized depending on what one's seeking in an adventure bike. Crash bars and pannier racks intro video is coming in a few days and we're working on getting them ready for production! Thanks for your patience and looking to going for a ride soon in Spain!

I have a new 790R and I can tell you from over 30 years riding/racing experience it is one hell of a bike. If your a SERIOUS rider its very very good. Also it can be ridden like a sports bike through the twisties, excellent road manners.

When you are jumping small objects the KTM Suspension does not look too stiff.. I really like how low the tank is on the KTM.. I just hit a Deer with my Yamaha MT-07 .. I had to buy new forks radiator ect.. I am guessing the Yamaha parts cost way less than the KTM does.. So you are based in Hungary , but you have a Distributor for your parts in the USA? I don't like when I order a part made in Asia and it takes them 3 weeks to air mail the part to me .. It seems obvious to ship parts in bulk on a Container then ship from a USA Distributor to the end user..

The tenere crash bars look awsome but i would like to add a thought: Couldt the bars go a bit more forward? Slightly ahead of the headlight? Im sure this way looks better but it would be nice for protection of the fairing. If i buy the bike this will be the bars ill buy.Great job!

Hey, so being 1.70m myself, I'm interested to know which one of the bikes you felt more comfortable on in terms of seat height and top heaviness. I see you're touching the ground pretty comfortably on both sides. Have you had any of them lowered, or is that just the "offroad" terrain helping you?
@Outbackmotortek
@Outbackmotortek 4 жыл бұрын
Both are comfortable on pavement and non-pavement as well. The T7 does not feel top heavy despite the fuel tank being higher up. I have never lowered any of my motorcycles.

Good review. 👍 Nice job on crashbars. I ride old tenere and i like how smooth is the engine. KTM's suspension looks more offroad oriented. Both good bikes but i prefer yamaha. Greetings from Estonia.
