I'm "conventional" motorcycle guy, but I have to admit that scooters seem pretty damn... Handy? I mean I'm bit jealous that their owners can possibly put daily shoppings under the seat and drive home. Yeah, yeah it can be done with traditional saddle bags with any motorcycle, but it just that many scooters seem to have nicely shaped storage solutions. I also love that almost all of them have also smaller compartments for wallets, gloves, phones etc. If I'd live in any bigger city where it would be possible to ride through year with bike, I gotta admit that I'd get a scooter for daily use.

You're right! I had 2 Tmax's and went to a CBR 500R. I now take the car a few times a month whereas I always used the Tmax to run across town to B&Q etc. and beat traffic. As a result I spend less time on two wheels. The CBR is more direct and agile but the Tmax was also capable. I will go back to Maxi scooters because they make more sense. Some of the bike neanderthals that dismiss/laugh at Maxi scooters annoy me though.

@@Roadunner42KM don't tour the Scottish North Coast 500 on a scooter. I did on my Honda Forza 300cc and was practically given the two fingered salute by snobby gits riding BMW GS riders.

Best part about a Tmax, you can balance it standing, I rarely put a foot down.

The width of the thing always surprises me - only ever tried sitting one at the shows like last week's NEC - but this feels more awkward than most bikes short (!!) of a tall ADV.

I had 2 1x500 2001model 1x530 2014 model fitted with akrapovic full exhaust dark screen top box awesome bikes I had many bikes in my life .I am riding now a Honda Goldwing Valkyrie 2015 from all the bikes I had in my riding life Tmax is the best.

Expensive, but as he says, to replace the car or instead of an annual train ticket. All in all, the ultimate commuter.

1990 but an nc750dct is quicker and far cheaper if commuting is your thang.

@@jonharris3906 they both go 180 on strait but on twisty road NC750 is joke no chance to handle like Tmax and the breaks of NC Honda are verry bad

Minko, the NC is 30% cheaper than the tmax and never had a handling issue once the standard Dunlop’s are thrown away. The single disc is not ‘very bad’ but does need assurance at times from the rear, again it’s a lost cost commuter / tourer not a sports bike and 90mpg is impressive!

NC 750 is for those who just want to travel cheap from A to B. Bad corner handling and weak brakes with any type of tyres comparing with Tmax and big value lost 50% for new honda in 3-4 years period - NC750. ;)

i have the 2015 version....this is a nice little upgrade. in America we consider this the Cadillac of scooters. its as good as it can get. thanks for the review sir.....i hope we get this model in the u.s.a.

Loved my Yamaha Majesty 400. It was the right size between this and the 300, so it had almost the same power, but was lighter. If i could have had two bikes, I would have kept her.

I've owned both - chalk and cheese. I loved the Majesty and it took me around Europe without a single glitch but the TMax is a blast to drive and handles like a proper sports bike (if only it had an extra 30 bhp!).

I just added up my 2015 Tmax 530 servicing bills for 4 years of ownership total $6798.00 Serviced every 5k Includes the 20k-40k major services tyres on average every 12k. I would love to compare the cost to running a H2 Kawasaki pretty sure maintaining a Tmax is more expensive.

Thank you for that, I have always thought to maintain a scooter is cheaper than a motorcycle. I was really contemplating getting a scooter to zip around town. The high price for the TMAX and the maintenance costs isn't justifiable. I would rather put a down payment on a Prius prime.

@@AbdulazizKoleilat Having owned scooters for years there is very little (necessary)servicing needed ,except oil and tyres, check brake pads , which can be done by the owner.

@@AbdulazizKoleilat Well they have just bigger more powerful engines, so at high speed they are working less hard,(with lower revs, )then smaller engine scooters.

@@AbdulazizKoleilat Bear in mind the Tmax is a high performance scooter, anything high performance is going to cost more in servicing. Buy a Burgman 400 if the T is too pricey. Or stick with the Prius, beige may very well be your colour.

Amazing scooter but a little pricey. Hopefully the launch of the 2020 model will make previous used models more affordable.

Is a 2022 version available in the US? Sign me up! I had my last scooter 13 years, a Aprilia Scarabeo 500ie with 39 horsepower. I definitely have to buy a new TMax for sure.

I'd have considered the Kymco if it had cruise control - a big miss for me on a maxi-scooter as I long distance commute. I also found the switchgear a bit plasticky. Went for 530 dx instead and am delighted with it - my "proper bike" doesn't get used anymore...

@@FFdo. It is, but the build quality is really good. Maybe Yamaha is even better, but the price is much higher.

I don't like the engine sound, they should redesign it and give it a 270 degree crank or something. I don't mind if it means a bit more vibration, for me the T-Max engine is characterless and wimpy. I'd rather have a single cylinder 500cc engine if I'm honest.

Tmax is my favorite for scooters, looks, performance, but I think it's too expensive for what that scooter can provide. In Germany, a used 2019 scooter costs over € 10k

No denying the well deserved fame of this scooter. However, I can´t avoid a certain antipathy due to the vast amount of chavs riding T-Maxes and racing through the traffic lights, specially when you stand on a "proper" motorbike just beside. I don´t understand that complex, always trying to prove that their T-Max can be faster than a RR :) Also, price is completely outrageous for a scooter of this HP, even ridiculous compared to the bikes you can get for that same money.

I don't own one and probably will not buy one because of the price, but i have ridden one and its impressive how easy of a bike it is. Its hard to explain until you've been on the seat of one. Especially in congested cities where parking is a horror.

@@Tsitris46 Yes, as said it has a well deserved reputation for being the best scooter out there. Even BMW wasn't able to get the crown with their own scooters. No denying the concenience, however I still find them to be way overpriced.

Maybe a problem in central London, but not an issue elsewhere. I’ve had mine for two years and never had any problem.

the TMax is an A2 license bike which is why the power is kept to 47 bhp - plus it was a 530 not a 630.

I would loove to see Michael trash it on purpose in a ditch an come out in a MT-09 wheeling... saying: “that’s the whole review, dismiss the scooter, ride a bike”!
