Lovely. I own a 1976 U3H and is gorgeus!. I find some more depth (bass register is more notorious) on its sound in your video, but both sound fine. Perhaps the U1 is newer?. The U3 sounds like somewhat softer, perhaps due to age

I have a 1971 U1. Sounds smoother than the U3. - maybe just the room and the floor.

Can you make a video, where you show the bass power of Yamaha u3 ( possibly H). I think that Yamaha u3 has the bass that are so wick. I really appreciate a possible comparison with another piano, also in a modern song.

The U3 sounds good. I do not know what size piano to get myself as a player learning on there own and practicing Chopin op. 10 no. 1 beginning to end. I have only used a cheap spinet type piano and want to know if I should just settle for the ecnomical U3 or splurge and pick up a $7-12k grand piano.

Classical Pianist and engineering background Of COURSE the U3 is going to produce a much nicer sound Classical pianist with an engineering background but please consider this. The U 1 is 48" and the U 3 is 52 inches. For those of you European based people, that comes to 0;12 METER. For that 0.12 METER, you are also paying and extra $6,000-7000. I have looked the average starting price for a nice polished U1 is about $7,000 and it is about $13,000 for the U3. Good thing at this music store in Las Vegas Pianos, they let you trade up your pianos. I currently have a digital CLP 745 Yamaha and it is good. I will get 4000 credit and upgrade it to the U1. Eventually I will get the U 3 but my goal is to one day have a 6 ft CF grand. That is $45,000-60,000. If you think that is bad, check out the price of the CFC 9 foot grand, the price will shock you $300,000(that is USD). For me if you don't have the money for the U3, the next best thing is the U1. Keep in mind Yamaha greatly improved, after buying the rights to Steinway and Bosendorf. They improved their harp drastically. Keep in mind although the sound on new U3's are better, they are not EARTH SHATTERING better, at least not for the price jump of $6,000. If you are going to pay $13,000, you might as well wait, save up $7,000 and get an entry level C series 6 foot grand, if you have the space in your house or apparent. The good thing is what you pay for is what you get. If you ever plan to sell your Yamaha even 20 years later, you will at least get half of the value back for it because people will pay for a good quality piano.
