Exactly. I had a 490 would never have started like that. Really needed to lift my butt high and give it everything I I got when I kick. Real pig to start but feels great kicking the shit out of a 490. This guy seemed scared to lift himself off the seat while he was kicking.

I have been a mechanic for over 40 year's and I just don't get starting a cold engine and start revving the hell out of it, or hold the throttle wide open with no load bouncing it off the rev limiter.

sotao da mota antiga You need to let your bike warm up first man, thats why it doesn't run smoothly when you first take off. You cant just start a two stroke bike and pin the throttle like that, the engine needs to warm to operating temperature before you rev it hard or the piston could seize in the engine. This is bad for your bike.

I had a 490 would never have started kicking like that. Needs to stand high on the kickstart and push yourself back as you kick. That's how I start the 490 and it takes about 10 kicks to start. Im.6ft 5 so can get a good high and hard kick. Thank god the 490,s got a nice padded seat to slam my butt onto cause boy do I kick hard. Feels great kicking the shit out of it though.

@@mullaway5746 yes. Sure helps being tall to get a hard kick. Helped a short guy trying to start a 490 the other day. He couldn't, believe how high I lift myself off the seat when I kicked it over. Couldn't find neutral either so had to hold the clutch in for 10 mins kicking it over hard to get it started. My hand so ached.

In 1987-88 Yamaha made only 8 liquid cooled 500cc 2 stroke dirtbikes called the YZM-500 an they weren't available to the public only for the Yamaha Race teams but 8 of thies do exist somewhere. In my opinion Yamaha completely dropped the ball on the 500cc liquid cooled 2 stroke movement back in the early to late 80's the engine used in this yzm500 could of been a game changer for Yamaha but they chose to keep it a secret an lost out on millions an possibly being top dog back then. The Tri-Z500 would of been King an the Banshee500 would of been equal or faster than the Lt500/Quadzilla.

Hi, Thanks for your comment :) I'm from Portugal ... And I bought the bike in Porto and as it was very gross, I traded for a go-kart ... But I think it would be a Quadro of a 250 and the base of the engine of a 250 also ... Regards, Subscribe *

OK I raced a YZ 465 In 1981 and still own 3 Yamaha race bikes plus the original YZ 465. There is no such factory bike that was released to the public,I agree this guy has no idea of how start or treat a bike. If Yamaha had built such a beast I would loved to have owned one. The sound is not YZ 465/490, not sure what this bike is exactly, its uncharacteristic in the exhaust note there is no deep Bop Bop. If someone can work it out I would love to know. There is no way that is a Yz 500 Yamaha only made a Yz 490. And it cant be bored out to 500 it's not possible. The max cc's is 490 even after you bore it and do all that stuff

They actually did make a total of 8 YZ500's as a new competitor to the CR500 in the late 90's. They didnt go into mass production due to the 500 fad dying off by the end of the 90's.

You people dont know much =) Yamaha made a watercoled 500 around 87-88 called YZM500 =) But that was a purebread factory race bike, nothing for the civilian market =) I remember a finnish guy called Kurt Ljungqvist and a other Heikki Mikkola managing that beast really good

It's actually a 91.5 WR 500. There were only a thousand made most of which wound up in Australia and Europe. It was built for Damon Bradshaw to win the AMA 500 Nationals.

Lift your butt off the seat when you kick mate. Cant get a hard kick like that. Stand high on the kickstart and slam down as hard as you can. Hold the clutch in when you kick.

Yamaha did not manufacture a yz500 in 1996 nor did they ever make a water cooled bike over 249cc's. They made an air cooled yz490 and a wr500.

I mean no disrespect. You post a video of a model that Yamaha never made. 1989 was the last year Yamaha made the YZ 490. Then in 1991 for one year only Yamaha made a blue and white WR 500 which you don't have. I PROMISE YOU, YOU DO NOT OWN A 1996 YZ 500. NOBODY DOES. THEY WERE NEVER MADE. However if, by chance, you own a water cooled Yamaha YZM 500 (total number produced-6) I would buy it from you tomorrow morning for 100 thousand dollars.

There were 6 to 8 factory yzs that were 500s with an aluminum frame like the yzs of today and water cooled. They were so ahead of any bike of its time. They were like a 2000s bike made in the 80s. Few know of them and the special bikes they were of its time. No other make was even close to yamaha at that time
