It's very very under rated, everyone is KTM 300 CRAZY... I do admit the 300 is crazy good. The fx is more stable, comparing them back to back stock. Fx is cheaper.

The key to stall prevention is compression ratio. Keep it low and it wont stall. They should make a power compression ratio valve lol. Silly

Those are exactly the kind of trails I rode for over 40 years and that is the bike I could have used......a lot of times when you're really excited about getting up the trail, you get a little sloppy and don't get your shifts quite right. When you have a bike that will lug without stalling out, it makes your day so much more fun and allows a fella to get away with less than perfect riding skills every minute. When you're done with that bike send it my way! It might make an old guy look a bit younger again!! Hang in there, Rado! Thanks for the look back down the trail; it sure gives a feel of how steep/technical it was.....good job. Keep the Faith, Tom P.S. A fella would like a 300 for that kind of hills, maybe........or it may "feel" heavier(even if it wasn't) due to bigger piston swinging around. It is almost impossible to get the bike too light when you're an old geezer like me.
@dirtniron

yes Tom, little bigger displacement would be good. I have 270 kit on the bike right now and it feels great! I think you would love it!
@tomnekuda3818
@tomnekuda3818 3 жыл бұрын
@@dirtniron 270 is about all you want to punch it out to because any more and your bore/stroke ratio start doing weird things to your powerband and vibration. Sure looks about right to me. You did a super job of pushing it to the limits in terms of how much lugging it would take without flame-out. I hear a lot of guys complaining about notchy shifting on the Yamahas......I dunno, I've own/ridden a lot of Yams and I've not been bothered by the shifting.......what are you finding from that standpoint? I'd like to hear your experiences. Most of where I rode was about like what you rode in this upload with more loose rock. I'd rather ride rock than mud any day! I hate mud. Keep the Faith, you'res my main man!

I own a 2019 300rr Beta and 2020 yz250fx.....for the slow stuff, the Beta is the far more competent bike for sure, awesome bike....but the bike that makes me super excited to ride is my yz250fx, what a blast it is, the engine's power curve, the sound, the suspension....the riding experience is just the best with this bike especially in the medium to quick stuff.....not a bike for hard enduro or the very slow stuff, engine has too much compression and too reactive of a bike to ride in those conditions but for everything else, its unmatched!

I find that my YZ250fx will lug very well. Where it has issues is if I chop the throttle and then get back on the gas quickly, like when I need to lift the front end for a log. That’s when it stalls or flames out unexpectedly.
