@@willl7780 I love the Ducati character with the V-Twin, trellis frame, dry clutch.. You don't have these anymore. And esthetically in my eyes at least, Ducati is lacking for the past 20 years.. Ducati design peaked with the 916, first generation Monster 900, and the old square headlight Supersport.. These were all in the 90s and were masterpieces. Anything after them from Ducati hasn't convinced me unfortunately

Most of the routing of the pipe under the seat is partly due to packaging, coupled with making sure that the pipe lengths from each cylinder is equal when they meet in the cat box under the bike. If they were uneven, the exhaust flow would be slightly compromised, and since the Panigale is designed so uniquely and compact there isn't any other space for the rear exhaust pipe to go, except under your seat. The Panigale is arguably the most complex production bike ever when it comes to its technical design, no other bike has undergone the requirements that the Ducati team managed when they got the original Panigale design brief. It's quite nuts really. But hey at least in colder weather it doubles as a seat heating feature :)

I just as much fun to ride a smaller bike harder than to lope along frustrates with a big bike knowing ur using at best 30-50 % of its capacity on the road. I have a 300cc auto scooter forza Honda and I ride that everywhere with the throttle wide open and have a blast. No gears, no clutch. Plus I can fit a carton of piss under the seat when I stagger out of the pub on a Friday night. Cops never look at you twice on a scooter. They just look a think, “poor old cunt.” 👍😁

Over 150hp, you don’t really notice much of difference until 80mph+ speeds when using the gearbox. The average rider on the street doesn’t benefit from cutting edge horsepower. Now if you are lazy with shifting, then yes, extra torque helps but the V2 already has better mid range torque than many 4 cylinder bikes.

I like it for the styling, performance, and exclusivity. It's the best looking bike for sale, doesn't need RPMs to reach the powerband which makes it street worthy, and isn't a Japanese bike. I'm planning on at least test driving one. Top three bikes along with MT-10 which I like for the value and CBR1000RR-SP which I like for proven reliability but this V2 is number one on my list.

My dealership loaned me one of these yesterday while my bike was serviced. Really really impressed. Ducati have found the perfect balance between fast and fun - just the right amount of street displacement, great handling and reasonably comfortable for a sport bike. And as beautiful as any Panigale. I owned it’s bigger brother (V4 S) and would easily buy this bike over it any day. Any more for this and you get all track fun and too much (aka boring) for the street. This one hits it down the middle perfectly. Well done Ducati!

I have an 899 and considering picking up a V4 very soon. What did you like better about the V2 over the V4s you had?
@Scootir185
@Scootir185 3 жыл бұрын
I Know Football I think it really depends on what you want to use it for, and your riding style. I do 99% street riding with a few track days a year to learn how to go faster. The V4 is blisteringly fast, which makes it really exciting to ride if you have the room to excel accelerate hard but otherwise gives you big bike syndrome. You just feel like you’re holding it back all the time, with it being unhappy below 50 and just starting to come alive as you head north of 90 mph. Don’t get me wrong - awesome awesome bike. Did 11,000 miles on mine before I traded it in. But in the end too much for the street, because it just starts to get fun at speeds well in excess of any common speed limits. Another real issue for me was the heat off the V4 - if I rode for hours at a time I literally had burns on my right calf and thigh no matter what protection I wore. The V2 felt as nimble as the V4, but it’s engine gives you far better low speed grunt and you can use so much more of it’s potential that it ends up being way more fun to ride. Think I could probably rip faster on the V2 at the track too, provided the straights weren’t too long. I totally get the mentality of I want the biggest, but if you’re primarily a street rider the V2 is a case of less is more. Anyway - a great dilemma to have. Good luck in your choice!
@IKnowFootball
@IKnowFootball 3 жыл бұрын
Scott L definitely felt that during my test ride! Says the same thing. Over 100 the bike is awesome. Below 100, felt like I could crack my Panigale and feel like I was getting excitement. The V4 felt buttery smooth shifting, turning and great dampening without feeling too soft and unstable. I may keep both but I don’t ride enough to keep both

One thing sim racing has taught me is that big power isn't always the most fun on track. You want something with a balance between the power, chassis, and driver capability. The more power you have, the less time you spend on the throttle and the more time you spend on the brakes. By reducing power a bit, you get to spend less time trying to slow the car/bike down for the next corner.

@Yammie Noob, the throttle on Ducati RBW benefits greatly from a throttle spacer. Once installed, set your mapping with *Throttle response* on “Race” but EBW (Engine Brake Control) set on 3 (minimum engine braking). This keeps the butterfly’s open and softens the off / on response on the crack of the throttle. My V2 is absolute perfection now. Lastly, If you can’t shift into neutral you probably need to bleed the clutch. Panigale is notorious with air entrainment on the clutch MC, even with new bikes.

They did an amazing job packaging a streetable sport bike. They managed to find that sweet spot with a track machine that I wouldn’t mind commuting with. The liter bikes are just too much for that. Offer more along this line in the expert giveaway and expose more people to the advantages of compromise between power and poise. One of the reasons I always liked the speed triple is it was just a little bit more than the street but not completely mental like the super duke r or mt10. Food for thought for future expert bikes. The lesser power but still highly polished machines that are available like the speed triple or Ducati supersport. Even the Honda cb1000r.

@@khazzzzzz 600cc is the worst sport bikes for the street. they lack any power under 8k rpm with the combination of aggressive riding position and overall small and compact size makes them very frustrating experience on the street. They're pure race bikes. Al least 1000cc superbikes come with nice features and electronics and their torque down low makes them usable on the street. I had r6 before I got on my r1 and the r1 feels like honda Goldwing in comparison. Not even for free I would ride 600cc on the street again.

I really wish Ducati would bring back the family of Streetfighters like when they had the 848 and 1098. A V2 Streetfighter would be an amazing commuter bike, I feel the V4 has too much power to be truly practical for every day use. I’d sell my Supersport and my SF848 in a heartbeat to consolidate down to a SF V2. Hopefully the Bologne bois see the V2 sales (sold out already everywhere) and see the trend towards commuter use and make an SF family again.

I grew up when the 916 was popular and being a colleague I myself I used to follow Scott Russell on a zx7r which I used to own one. That was a really fast motorcycle and had much less horsepower than this I just can't imagine a Ducati as a V4 and I can currently buy to anybody I want so I think you have me sold on this one

Bob Wampler Looks exactly the same as the garbage 1199 mirrors. They are horrible. Shake worse than my harleys so you cant make anything out. They vibrate down put of position so never right on. They also tend to vibrate loose at the base every few thousand miles. Its a shame they put the blinkers on them so we’re forced to lose a feature when tossing them. Taking mine off as soon as the flashing blockoff plates arrive.

A very well narrated video. You make a compelling argument. I would say for street-focused biking, competitors are the Tuono Factory, Ducati's own Supersport and the new Aprilla RS 660. Any thoughts?

Never riden a bike with a clutch. Isn't it the same as a car? Release clutch add throttle?? Edit: lol just realized you mean start it and not start going from a stop lol. I do that too when i drive a car, good habit to have

That's how I always start my bikes. If you pull the clutch the clutch plates are lighter on the starter motor, so easier starts

That’s how I start all motorcycles to save the starter. Also it’ll start easier if your battery is on the low charger side.

Yam, I think something you seem to ignore is the fact that we are all people and sometimes a bike just speaks to a person. It doesn’t always have to be “streetable” or have a specific purpose that you have to use it for. That’s a big part of the liter bike market. You seem to always need a reason and logic behind what you ride but it just isn’t the case. I’m super happy on my R1 and I exclusively ride on the street as of right now (mainly just cause I’m not close to a track and it’s still pretty expensive) but the point is that yes the V2 may be a logical choice for a lot of people but it doesn’t mean it’s the right choice for people.

Hi! Can you help me a bit? I have a Panigale V2 I love the sound of the 2-cylinder, that's why I bought it, but it's simply so raw, so shaky that it's too much for me. Are there any 2-cylinder supersport engines that run smoother? or is this the case with all manufacturers?

Totally agree... Normal people like you/me, not the expert skilled track rider don't need a 200HP bike... This more then enough, and even more then most riders need... Next year this is gonna be me track bike, can't wait!!

Great review as always. I’d want one if I didn’t already have a like-new 1199. But that green light on the dash is driving me crazy. That means neutral on the other hundred bikes I’ve been on.... Oh and 195hp is definitely not “annoying” ;)

Feel like I'm watching Ducanoob 👀. But I love it! I own a 2020 Supersport S and it's a 939 sport touring bike with an emphasis on sport. Full Oihlins, Brembo, up and down quick shift and an adjustable windshield but with Panigale esq looks and a more upright seating position. I'm also in love with her. I would like to see you take one of these for a spin and see your thoughts in comparison though.
