I don’t understand how I always hear in these videos stuff along the lines of “Crazy to think people commute these, but I do know a few true 600 bros that do.” I personally know a ton of people who have supersport 600s and 1000s as their only bike for everyday riding. If you like the bike enough, you’ll make it work lol.

Yea if you could only have one bike and the typical commute was only like 20-30min then it would be fine for daily use. Most people arent going very far on a daily basis and also dont need saddle bags or a ton of wind protection. But there are way better "only bike" options, especially for those that dont use the highways or for taller folks like myself. Personally id go z900 over zx6r

So I'll throw my 2 cents in the mix as a 21 KRT ZX6R owner. So, if your commute consist of mostly city riding, do not get a ZX6R. You are going to enjoy the Ninja 400, or Z400 much much better. But if you have some open roads and not a ton of stops, then the ZX6R is going to be fine. Now, because this bike has such a stiff suspension and you aren't planning on tracking it, get the suspension softened up. You will thank me later, because the way it is from the factory bumpy twisty roads suck a55 on this bike. I have hit bumps in curves and the bike actually bounced up and over in the lane. So get the suspension softened, also run correct air pressure and tires. Don't go drop your cash down on a set of tires that are better suited for the track than the street. Yes they are super sticky, but that grip fades super fast and they ain't gonna last. A good quality set of sport touring are going to be a great option. Not only do they have great grip, but they will have excellent wet traction and will last for much longer. I am running the Michelin Road 6s on my bike, I love em. They lean great, have a comfortable ride and are holding up nicely. But, they ain't cheap, although they are worth it. Next, learn to use your lower body and core for a more enjoyable riding experience. And yes the seat is fairly hard, but you can get a gel seat pad. Next up, if you plan on this bike as your daily, even though the exhaust is ugly, your ears will thank you later for keeping it. I don't usually ride with other crotch rocket guys, because I get sick of hearing their exhaust. And when you put that aftermarket exhaust on, you usually can't hear the intake any longer. Moving on to the factory grips, they suck because of the diameter and so do 95% of the aftermarket ones. Most aftermarket ones are the same diameter, which well give you hand cramps if you ride for a long time. A good option, is to get Grip Puppies, you'll thank me later. As Spike mentioned, this bike has useable mid range, you don't have to constantly be in the upper rpms. Which actually is really helpful on twisty roads, especially when down shifting. This bike really allows you to trail brake effectively while down shifting, and with the decent midrange, you can take curves and stay in one gear through many curves. I have ridden for several years, and all I have ridden for the most part are sport bikes. So I will say, this bike is by far my favorite. The ZX14R is just too much for curvy roads, the ZX10R is decent in the curves, but the 636 is just much better. Also with the larger bikes, you spend a lot of time going slow on a fast bike. The 636 has enough speed to get you that high speed rush, but it's manageable. So the ZX6R is a great bike in my opinion

Why the Ninja 400 when you have the Ninja 650? Someone that is looking at a ZX6R probably wants power and the Ninja 400 IS powerful but not really close to the ZX6R while the Ninja 650 is kinda closer? I'm just asking 😅

I commuted for two years on a ZX6R in Los Angeles, maybe fifty miles a day roughly. Had great fun, and no problems at all. Got everywhere on time, and beats being stuck in traffic in a car any day. Sure it's sporty, and wants to zip out of anywhere fast, but that's part of the fun. I had no comfort issues, and it was solid, no problem. PS: It was great being able to take different routes too. Canyon, highway, street - depending on which I felt like on any given day. Never felt wrong.

I rode my Gixxer 600 ... K4 ... back and forth to work for 10 years 30 minutes each way. I carried stuff in my backpack and had no problems with ergonomics. Maybe because I'm only 5'6"? Some days I cruised in and some days I ran the hell out of it. Mostly long stretches of long roads, some interstate driving and closer to work some nice twisty back roads. Over 76000 miles with only basic maintenance and no problems. I was 42 at the time and living the life.

Talk about beating a dead horse with this topic. You can definitely daily a super sport, even a 600CC one (1000s are more comfy). Just use common sense, keep yourself in good physical shape, carry a bag or use a tank bag for stuff, use your thighs to brace the bike like you would a horse (tank pads help) and don’t be in a full tuck the whole time. Rest the left arm on the tank when just cruising or sit up straight as much as you can. Sure, any other bike is easier to commute on, but a super sport will make every commute amazing and you’ll feel / look like a rockstar doing it. Personal recommendation: Go with any GSX-R or CBR600RR for daily. I’m on my third CBR now of the third gen and never once wished to be on a different bike wherever I went. I have a car for when I want to “cruise” around and be all laid back dealing with chores / winter weather.

Not even gonna watch the video, I am just going to answer yes. Yes you can daily drive a 600. I have been daily driving my 2009 Yamaha YZF-R6 for the past 3 years, back and forth work, (about a 30 min commute each way), to the gym, friends houses, etc... no problem, I am in my mid-late 20s and have faced no back problems, butt hasn't hurt (unless I go riding for 6+ hours after work). Gas mileage is waaaaaaay better than my car, I have a blast taking either the highway or backroads, being able to pass traffic is no problem. I have backpack for my work/gym stuff, so luggage isn't really a concern. Driving to and from work is the highlight of my day. The only time I don't ride it is when it rains/snows or when I want to take my R1 out for a spin. I really don't get this negative stigma towards sport bikes, yes you are hunched over forward, but if you are using your legs (as you should on any bike) to hold yourself up, then its really no problem.

Living in the middle of Tokyo, but I commute to work everyday on my ZX6R. Great to shoot out in the evening on a short ride and to find some twisty roads. And like others said before, if you have decent core muscles, the position is fine... or you get used to it. We can lane split here so that makes it a bit more reasonable during the hot humid summers. Great torque to get out of odd spots but so much that I get arrested ripping regular nooners or going so fast that I get arrested like I probably would with the ZX10. Roads here are generally better kept up than most of the US so you can really enjoy the handling of it- rock solid. Totally agree with the positions of the other makers- semi-upright so much more comfortable I found.

Depends on the 600. If its an old CBR with real seats then yes. But ive tried the planks that pass for seats on more modern bikes and for me thats a hard pass. The high powerband has one advantage...if you want it to go slow its easy to just keep revs low and keep it below its powerband.

I’m in exactly the same dilemma. I had a gsxr 600 srad last time I had a bike (about 15 years ago) and am looking to get back into it at the ripe age of 41 😬. The 750 seems better ergonomically but the zx6r is so much better on tech, and I want a quick shifter to save my wrists which the 750 doesn’t have as standard - the srad killed them in traffic! I’ve found a 750 with it fitted as well as other mods but it’s obviously been tracked. It wouldn’t be a daily, but decisions decisions.

I truly think the ZX-10R is a better bike all things considered... but something has me drawn to the GSX-R 😅 I will say that it is a more comfortable bike. Do I keep the ZX-6R and upgrade it? Thanks for the reply, that helps a lot. I think the litre bike is more than I need at the moment, and too expensive on the insurance £800 a year which is around $1000. The 750 is a happy medium and closer ergos to the CBR which I wanted originally. I’m a bigger guy than I was too at 95kg now, so was worried the cbr600 wouldn’t last me that long, or would look too small for me. The 750 just seems perfect now from what you’ve said apart from no q-shifter as standard. I’ve got my eye on one with a QS but it’s obviously been tracked, I may be able to have a deal with them though. Thanks again for the reply and happy riding.

Those naked bikes and and sport tours make me feel lazy in the seat and my knees start to hurt for I don't know why and after an hour my butt lights up on fire with pain. But this super sport feels great. I feel leaned in like my body wants to do, the highway speed makes riding it even easier since it holds me up even when leaned all the way over, I have 0 wrist pain because I don't rest on my wrist because I don't need for more than a few seconds when I'm slowing down to a stop. And before that I was dailying a sv650s for 5 years (it had clip ons and has a committed riding position, not as crazy as a zx6r or my gsxr 600 but closer to that then not) Edit. My commute was 30 mins on sv 45 mins on the proper 600s

@4:00 The CBR 600RR (en masse) has consistently had higher clip-ons & lower seat heights than the R6 & ZX-6R. It is arguably a much more streetable ergonomics package than the bog standard 600 ergos. The fans also switch on sooner and the bike runs cooler overall (in stock form). I think the GSX-R 600/750 peg position is different, or maybe the seat is just higher up, but it’s been about 10 years since I’ve sat on a Suzuki. They always felt a bit strange in comparison to the other big 4 Japanese bikes. The team has consistently skirted around the 600RR every time they review the 600 class, and I wish they would get one to review to understand how comfortable and fun they are as a daily super sport, much more fun than the 650, and WAY less frenetic than the Fireblade. That being said, love the YN crew & their content!

The suzuki has the lowest seat height of all four japanese brands. However, when I sat on one, it felt pretty aggressive for the height. So probably either lower clip ons or peg set up was different

Because Yammie has an opinion about 600s and has been on a crusade to spread it and prove himself right. His team tows the line, they repeat the same talking points "race bike with headlights" etc. They usually talk about the R6 as it's the most aggressive seating, lowest on power, and worst power curve of all 600s, even after it has been discontinued.

I take my Yamaha r6 daily to work depending on the weather and I love it tbh in my opinion I think you should ride it within your skill and your comfortability I feel like going through these motovlogs to get an opinion on what you want to ride or get or should get is a myth. The key to riding a bike is body head and throttle control also breaking. I'm not telling anybody to start on a 1000 or a 600 If you do enough research you should be happy with whatever bike you get just my opinion.

I commuted on a ZX6R for a few years when I still lived in NJ. My actual commute was a 30 mile trip on the Parkway in the opposite direction to most commuters so it was a whole lot of exhaust note and wind noise and allegedly going cartoonishly illegally fast. Really, the big pain was the toll booths until EZPass came along. Once I could tuck my EZPass into my jacket breast pocket, that went away and tollbooths just became a chance to slow down and wheelie for some random beach tourists. Yeah. I was a squid 20 years ago.

This all depends on what kind of route your commute is and the time . If you work downtown and had to fight through rush hour traffic all the time and we are talking about a place that lane splitting is illegal(looking at you Canada)? Then supersports isn't a good idea. But for me, I work in the industrial/logistics sector. Most traffic i see is one or two 18wheelers. Most of the time the highway is free when I leave from my house until I time ourr from work. Enjoyed the 600 every minuete of my commute

Great video. My 60th Anniversary World GP R7 finally got here last week. But I still have my ZX6R. I love the ZX6R, but even though the ZX6R it much more street friendly than most 600s, it really begs you to ride it fast. So much so I really don't know how I haven't ended up in jail or at least with an insanely expensive ticket. I will get the urge to roll back that throttle and end up in triple digits in no time. I originally bought it for a track bike, but it's still a lot of fun on the street. However, the R7 is definitely more for the street machine. I may go all out on setting up the ZX6R for the track. I'm still trying to decide though. I had someone ask me why I had 2 bikes that were so similar. They really aren't similar other than appearance. But I told them the ZX6R is a race bike with lights and the R7 is a street bike you can take to the track. It doesn't sound very different, but it really really is. It's hard to think I would set the ZX6R up for track only. We'll see. BTW. I hope you guys now realize how ridiculous the RS660 is. For the same or even less money the ZX6R is soooo much more bike. Again really enjoyed the video.

7:12 for riding in urban areas with any sport bike: Whenever you get to a stop and you know youre gonna stop for a couple more seconds, go into neutral sit upright as soon as you can. Do CAREFUL lane splitting, whenever it seems save enough. Whenever its save - get your left hand of the handlebar and sit uprightish (this doesnt only apply to riding in stop and go traffic, but also when just cruising around).

I just bought a 2023 zx6r 3 days ago. I got the metallic matte twilight blue. But going from a CB500F to this is a huge difference. My neck was sore as hell after putting about 60 miles on it. But that's probably because my posture is all wrong (or at least I hope that's why and it's something I can fix). I was absolutely terrified when I was leaving the dealer on that thing. After a few miles, I felt a little better. And then I started having a little fun and getting more comfortable. It really is such a fun bike that you can look past the ergonomics. I only have a 20-minute commute to work, and most of it is open road, so I could see myself riding to work on it. But I know people who drive an hour to get to work, I definitely wouldn't recommend this for them, or they'll have to leave extra early because you really do need to stop and take a break occasionally to stretch out. I did find a set of aftermarket clip-ons that have a narrower band and a different angle, so they raise the handles an inch and a half. They're $299 but I'll probably get them at some point.

If it's a reliable Japanese bike the answer is yes. I mean you can daily whatever but it can give you mechanical issues and you'll be out of transportation. Other factors don't matter, it's just overthinking it. If you want to daily a Supersport do it and don't listen to all the other guys. You'll develop the muscle in your core, back, and legs it's not that bad. Especially taller riders, your reach to the bars is shorter with long ass arms.
