Yep, the busa is a heavier bike. Just like all other bikes, you have to ride it to get the hang of it until you get comfortable on it. You cant ride it just once and talk about a Daytona all of the course. A lighter bike is definately for you. Another thing, why did the visor fall off? I have my busa 16 years now, and nothing have fallen off. I'm curious.

@@yammienoob I think you need to do a proper tyre and suspension setup/adjustment before taking this beast to a race track, i.e. tyre pressures, front and rear suspension, preloads, rebounds, rake and trail ect. all make huge differences on the bends. With the correct setup you can transform the bike from being "such a pig" to "light as a feather". .. Check out Dave Moss on this subject, he is a master when it comes to suspension tuning for track purposes, now I'm not affiliated to him in any way, but thanks to what I've learnt from him, I am able to track even my air cooled katana 600 at higher speeds and much more confidence than ever before.

I honestly dont get all the hate for the Busa about its handling. When I first got my Busa I felt like it turned really good. I was coming from riding my slammed HD sportster and the busa feels like a 600 compared to the Harley. I now have a gsxr 750 also and I still dont understand the hate the Busa gets over its handling. It turns great for me. The gsxr 750 definitely flicks over quicker but the Busa is no pig I'm my opinion.

My impression was that it was one of the most stable bikes that I had ever ridden ( back in 2000 ) and with the aerodynamics , it felt like I was going 50 when I was doing over 100 and when I looked down coming out of a corner , found out I was doing over twice the speed that I thought . Compared to my '87 Vmax doing over 140 with no fairings and the air trying to rip my head off the ' Busa was a joy to ride. I was about 230 lbs at the time , so maybe the guy who mentioned that the rider weight makes a difference , has something.

The first time a bigger fella sits on a busa....its that kinda finally feeling like finally the bike fits and I can feel and control bike cruising around having more weight for tilt. Nick Fountain “Salt Flats” are a whole “thing” in themselves... people don’t realize that the Salt Flats is nothing like asphalt! The Salt Flats are like riding on hot tar or dense sand (poor analogies I know) but the point is “traction” is LOW and there is a reason that of the few bikes that CAN do 200MPH [on asphalt] can NOT get to 200 MPH on the SF’s no matter how hard they try... look at the history of the SF’s it stands out that the speeds seem Oddly low when you compare guys going faster in a quarter mile or half mile drag strip

Nick Fountain NP. Don’t take my word for it... I have no real experience. I’m just a fan of watching different SF content and noticed the speeds (usually) seemed oddly slow. (They have a 200MPH “club”... which again seems easy enough to to do and with todays tech, you’d think everyone could do it... but it’s a hard [patch?] To get! I’ve noticed folks complaining about literally spinning their wheels at speed! And that if they could get enough traction they could go faster? Of course wind resistance becomes the overwhelming issue once you get above 120-150 (or so) so quickly these SF folks go to highly aero designs... the same HP will yield higher top speeds but mostly because of grip issues... or so I surmise? 😂

Ive had my gen 1 on the track at Mallory park, in the uk, a few times, definitely a big bike to handle but great fun, i was overtaking more track suited bikes, in the turns and short straights, definitely scary on the brakes, got the brake fade too and corners coming up faster than i expected. Nice to see another with a busa on a track 👍.

I bought a Ninja ZX1400R SE for my 50th birthday. The brakes on it were amazing. The ability to turn down the engine was awesome. The traction control settings helped keep the front end on the ground. Insurance was cheaper than the Hayabusa because of all the Ninja safety features. However, I could not keep myself from flying everywhere and racing on the street against super tuned cars so I eventually traded it back in for a cruiser for full value of what I owed on it. Was a great experience though.

@Philippine SemiExpat Superchargers are definitely a more linear source of major power with zero lag, but need a fairly beefy platform from the start...turbos offer an explosion of power and don't require gobs of HP to make them work, but lag like crazy until you spool up. Pros and cons for both platforms!

@@ItsDaJax just from my own experience (a personal car from the past) and also anything I've seen at drag strips, supercharged is just smooth power right from idle on up. There's no argument from me that Turbos make good power too since a friend had a old 302 mustang and put twin turbos on and dyno tested it at around 600 hp and almost as much torque.

Great video. And now we see why many people who have done a lot of trackdays on liter bikes have gone back to 600s or even smaller. You finally mature and realize you're not going to be Rossi, Marquez, or even Tito Rabat for that matter, so get something that handles well, have fun, keep learning and save a lot of money on tires. That's a fantastic observation actually, underestimating by 50mph is pretty huge. Definitely explains why he thought the brakes felt underpowered lmfaoo Seems like an unconcious testament to the comfort of the 'Busa though, even if it is slower than a track-prepped bike it's definitely doing better than Yam gave it credit for here, considering its almost 600 pounds and two decades old.

Takes me back a few decades. I rode a Kawasaki Mach 4 750 in the 1970s, the engine power was awesome but the chassis was not up to the task. Every corner at speed was a character builder but the straights were the reason to keep riding. Crude and obsolete by today's standards but even back then, the future was only a day away.
