I hear you have some experience with this. 😁. I had a front brake lock up on my 2002 Sprint RS last year at age 51. Went down pretty hard. Last wreck was over 20 years before that. I was properly geared up, I dusted myself off, took a couple weeks to reflect, bought a new helmet. I also took a advanced skills class and am now on my way to being a MSF instructor. At my age I’m not pushing boundaries. I’m good with the occasional track day and safe, spirited day trips. Thanks for the video. Good one today!!

destroyed my left leg about 3 years ago. Took me 2 years to walk again. Bought a new Z900RS 6 months ago. Took months to regain my confidence on the road but not regretting it. It was tough mentally literally getting back on a bike. Worth it.

Yeah I completely get it in cases like yourself why someone would be reluctant. I t boned a car last May and my leg is still numb obviously no where near as bad as your injury but quitting was out of the question I've seen it in skateboarding so much I can't count how many times I have broken a bone etc I was on crutches for nearly 12 months from 1 injury and alot of my mates/part time skateboarders were like are you going too stop. Too me it sounded like the dumbest thing someone could say. Why did I choose skateboarding if I was just going too quit when I got hurt. Could I then even say I was a skateboarder? I think the same applies for motorcycles it should be expected when you get your licence your going too get hurt it would be like joining boxing and then being surprised when u get punched in the face

Same happened to me 6 months ago unfortunately and im starting to do my first steps again so yeah, don't know when I will be able to ride again. It's harsh to hear that it took 2 years and I totally feel what you mean, its really tough mentally too. On the other side im really happy and glad to hear that you got through everything and decided to get on a bike again, I hope you are enjoying it as you did or even more now! How has it been since riding again btw? Keep it up!

DG The hardest thing was trusting the bike and leaning properly again. It clicked a few weeks ago and It’s way more enjoyable now. Sometimes I have to just get off the bike and chill for a few minutes. In hind sight, it’s probably PTSD mostly. But riding is just such a part of my identity, I feel like I just have to push through. It is certainly a journey.

Were they put back on? I lost one and they stuck it back on at the hospital but that was with an emergency room at a big hospital. First hospital said they had no one who do it so they sent me to the downtown one. Luck me it was Friday night and they had a plastic surgeon on staff who came in for the weekend gun shootings, caved in head bat wounds etc. Stuck my finger back on in 15 minutes. Doctor was a Vietnam vet which at the time was less than 10 years so he knew how to stick body parts back on if needed. If you had said body part.

I high-sideded into the middle of an intersection because my rear brake locked up (bad rider input). The bike threw me over the top and I slid through the intersection on my face(full face helmets kids. always.) This happened a few months ago. I ended up with just some bruising but not too much because ATGATT. The bike was okayish, got it fixed, ordered a new helmet, and after getting checked out medically I was back on the bike by the end of the week. You just can't be afraid of crashes as things happen, it could have been much worse, however I am going to make sure I stay on two wheels as long as I can.

I was hit a few months ago by an inattentive commercial truck driver. As anyone can imagine, I was severely injured, and had concerns that I wouldn’t even be able to walk right again. By the sheer grace of God, I’ve made a decent recovery, and I’m back on the iron horse. My return to riding was the best way for me to get passed the mental/emotional aspect of it.

Had my first crash on my dirt bike earlier today. Going around 30 or 45mph and went down on my left side and slid for around a second. Thankfully nothing broken but right wrist and whole left arm/shoulder in extreme pain, very minor compared to alot of crashes but still very shaken up and won't be able to ride for around two weeks due to the pain. However i am very eager to ride again as soon as i am able, just glad nothing too serious happened to me. A good reminder that however fun, motorcycles can be very dangerous machines and need respect similar to a large animal or a firearm. Very humbling... Wish a good recovery to anybody involved in an accident and happy riding!

I was always told to get back on a bike as soon as you can after a wreck- if you wait too long or think about it too much you will be afraid for the rest of your life. When I wrecked at 75 MPH I had someone drive me down to the boneyard my bike was towed to and I rode it home the next day.

Thanks for this yams! I rode a motorcycle for the first time in my life today. Had been riding for about 5 minutes when my back tire slips on some small rocks. I was exiting a roundabout and was driving around 18 Miles an hour. The small rocks, combined with the rain and a bumb in the Road proved too much for me. Nothing serious happened to me nor the bike so i finished the lesson. But non the less, it was fucking scary. I am not gonna let this stop my mc journey though. Just a bumb in the road🏍🇩🇰

Great video! I’m actually watching from my bed recovering from an accident I had on 11/11/2019. I have been struggling with what to do moving forward, as much as I’d love to say it’ll be easy to get back on, I had had one of those "very near death experiences" after being cutoff by a pickup at a light. I’m a new rider and have only the 3k miles I had put on my 17 Yamaha FZ-07 to my name. But I do really think/talk about it everyday despite the concern of my friends and family, and I do think I will eventually get back to it when I heal up and start working again to actually have the money to buy another bike. Anywho, I’m just rambling at this point... Thanks again! Edit: since I scrolled and saw everyone else posting their injuries: broken ankle, shattered tibial plateau, broken knee, broken femur, 2x shattered hips and a broken pelvis, broken jaw, gaping wounds in my groin and stomach with bandages that get changed three times a day, and a bruised vertebrae (I believe it was the second one from the top)

Went down for the very first time in September. This was my third bike and 4-5th year riding. My first two bikes before this one, didn't get a lot of miles in the saddle and this was my first brand new bike ( Go figure ) I had a girl cut me off right before a red light and admittedly panicked in the moment and didn't downshift properly and instead locked up my rear brake and lowsided on my right leg breaking the bone. First crash, first broken bone. While it definitely doesn't help to dwell it IS important to understand what you did wrong or could have done differently from a purely analytical perspective. Videos like Twist of the wrist, as well as watching influencers like Papa lube definitely help to get theories and concepts in your head even when you aren't riding. My bike took a low amount of damage and the seasons about to start, so it's time to get back in the saddle. Be safe my dudes!

I crashed my honda nighthawk 750 recently because of a highsider. It caused me to have a concussion and ive been looking for something to keep me going in the riding community besides just my friends that witnessed it happen this video has definitely made more confident in getting back into riding and i figured id just leave my bike and not even worry about it anymore because it would be cheaper to buy a new one than getting it from the tow yard and repairing it myself. Not only that but i can no longer even look at the bike because of anxiety of seeing it makes me worry because the concussion also gave me amnesia of the accident even happening. I no longer even have my old gear because of the pure fact i cant look at it because of what happened. Im just glad i didn't break or damaged anything other than my brain because its honestly made me a better person as of recently.

Hey Yammie, I crashed on the day this video was posted, at 11pm. A guy took a left on a right turn only, didn't look at all, didn't see me, just turned out in front of me. The front end of my 2019 Kawasaki ZX6R was demolished, and I was knocked unconscious. I suffered a major concussion, 5 broken ribs, and a fractured T5. It hurt for a while, but it will never hurt as much as losing a bike I only had for 3 days. My parents and loved ones don't want me back on a bike, but I know I will just be depressed my whole life if I don't. You speak the truth, there is something powerful about being on two wheels that I can't explain. I really needed this video, thanks for posting this video, I hope to be back on the road soon.

This is a good video, I fell off my moped while taking a turn(twice, fell again later while driving home cuz of some bad roads) under 30mph and it’s been like 3 weeks. No fractures just road rash and bruising, I wasn’t wearing a jacket(tshirt) And I’m really nervous taking turns now, I rode for like 10 minutes around the block and man I had to get off I got so nervous, I feel dumb kinda. So it’s kinda crazy how the mind can affect you

Was at a stop sign and had a lady take the turn too sharp, late at night. Wasn't fast on her part, but enough to break my leg and fracture my ankle. Just about healed up and the bikes all good (damage-wise), so I gotta learn how to walk again, and how to ride. This is my first major spill in the six years I've been riding so...yeah. Thanks for the vid man, ride safe :)

I was involved in a serious wreck in 2010 (I think). I was in the hospital for almost a month (but some of that had to do with poor treatment of my injuries). Its important to do "failure analysis" whenever something doesn't go well. This especially includes motorcycle wrecks. The question you must answer is "What could I have done to achieve a different outcome?" Sometimes there is no good answer. I hit a deer with my truck last year and I have no idea what I could have done to prevent that. The absolute WORST part of wrecking is everyone asking me if I was going to ride again. People I didn't even know were popping into my room and asking me that. Eventually I told them that YES I will be riding again, but I'm giving up wrecking for sure.

I had someone pull out in front of me on South Lamar in Austin when I was going about 30 MPH. I smacked into their driver side door and it shook me pretty bad. I went to the ER and everything cleared! Not one broken bone at all and within a week I was looking for a new bike. My significant other noticed this and was almost on the verge of tears begging me not to or at least just wait. I really can say that waiting was the best thing, I may not have had any broken bones and got extremely lucky but I still had A LOT of soft tissue damage, going to physical therapy 2-3 times a week was annoying but in the end of it all it worked out. I'll always be a die hard rider but waiting is one of the biggest keys to this, take your time, pay attention to your body and move at YOUR pace.

Hit a deer doing about 80 kph ... Picked up the bike, straightened out the brake levers, hand and foot both took the hit... rode it home the hour and a half that was left on my 1200 km ride... Bike fairings took a bit of a hit and front signals trashed, but even the RCMP officer didn't try too hard to keep me there... I handed him my helmet and asked him to show me a mark... he passed it back saying there was none... TY :D I was sore on both sides as I was ejected like on a high side and tumbled down the road... The day after wasn't the worst, that second and third day was much more painful... but all in all my gear saved any major damage, and within a week I barely felt it deep in my right ankle, and 2 weeks after ... fully healed... Same spot, 1 week previous , a younger rider hit a deer in almost the same spot and died from his injuries... Gear up and ride responsible at dusk when animals are on the roam and are hard to see.

Crashed my 2017 'Busa. Still recovering from torn pcl, left knee, fractured bone in right hand. Stiffness and numbness still present 9 mos. later. Went out and got an FJ09. It sits in garage. I knew I wanted to ride again, yet everytime I see it, I make an excuse not to ride it. The mind is a powerful thing. In this case it tricked me into thinking I missed riding, but truth is, I was in love with the IDEA of getting back into it. Not actually doing it, I hate to say. btw...love your 'Busa Boy vids. im 16 and im still learning about riding of course and i've crashed 3x probably and thank god they weren't bad crashes and i just learn from them, everytime i fall i treat it as a story of learning i guess, more people should just think of crashing as learning and in my opinion it makes it easier to bounce back and of course be more careful

I'm currently still recovering from a complet humerus fracture in my upper left arm and 3 tears around my rotator cuff (already had 3 surgeries done) was essentialy bed written for 3 months and am currently in PT for the last year and the more my range of movement heals around my left arm the more issues I'm finding with my left arm like the muscles and tendons. I gotta admit I miss the hell out of my cherry 650rr and can't wait to get back on a zx 6r but I don't even know if im mentally prepared yet. I went to a dealer 3 days ago got on the zx 6r and it felt right all around I wasn't scared of the bike or even riding it (I didn't ride it but imagined myself riding) but that impact immediately came to my mind when I got off the bike. Being struck by a car running a red light has done some serious damage but I don't know how to asses if there is psych damage yet, all I can think about is when I'll finally be healthy enough to ride again.

I low sided into a ditch nearly 2 years ago, visor was torn off my helmet, gloves were torn up and there was a big hole in my mesh padded jacket. I was fortunate to just have a big scrape on my elbow, some bloody fingers and some scratches on my face. Maybe I'm just young and dumb, but I rode it home with bent handle bars and no headlight or front left signal.

I haven't bounced back yet. I went down at the beginning of December 2019 on a group ride. I saw the footage of the guy behind me and between that and my memory, I think the root cause of my crash was my distraction. I was paying more attention to how far I was from the person in front of me than to where I was in my lane position. I wasn't trying to "keep up", I was trying to make sure I wasn't getting too close. I learned either is just as bad when it comes to being distracted from what you really need to be paying attention to which in this case was where I was in relation to a turn. I broke my left scapula in one place, my right scapula in 7 places, 3 ribs, my cuboid bone (the tarsal in the middle of the foot just in front of the ankle) and bruised my right lung. I had to have surgery right before Christmas to screw the top half of the socket of my right shoulder back onto the rest of the scapula and to get to that part of the shoulder, the biggest tendon of the rotator cuff had to be cut to get in at the socket, then sewn back together. I destroyed most of the cartilage inside the socket as well. I've got more physical therapy ahead, and with a lot of effort, I can raise my right arm straight in front of me up to horizontal from the floor, but not any higher. I can't bear much weight on that shoulder, so I think riding still has to wait until I can effectively push and pull the bars while leaning without feeling like my shoulder is grinding small bits of cartilage that are floating around in there. My wreck wasn't as bad as Yammie Noob's but it is pretty disconcerting that I might never quite get back to how I was. Yammie mentioned the insurance thing and I can confirm for the state of Texas that my insurance carrier reimbursed me for every piece of gear I was wearing when I crashed, severe damage or not. All they required was for me to send them pictures of the gear I was wearing with the brand and model clearly visible, and the receipts for the gear. I didn't keep my receipts, but in my case, they took screenshots of the website I bought my gear from with the brand, model, price, and picture of the gear all clearly visible in the screenshot. My biggest takeaway from the whole thing as far as insurance is concerned is that the least expensive option for personal injury in my state is "medical payments" at $1000 coverage. That's basically the ambulance ride. I got charged almost that much for the slings and boot they gave me at the ER, so give that some thought when tailoring your insurance policy. It goes up to $25k and costs more as coverage goes up, but $1000 isn't going to pay for much beyond the ambulance ride.

I went down on mine last September. Dumb error, went down at 35-40 mph. Had gear on so no injuries. Once i checked it out decided to ride it home. Didn’t have a right peg or rear brake though. Made it home fine. Just sucked that it was in limp mode (exhaust servo cable broke) so it would only go up to 6000 rpm. Still kept up with traffic on the freeway though at 80-85, just couldn’t accelerate as hard.

Hey Bone came out of my thumb, severe internal bruising, super deep cuts and gashes all over my legs. I was wearing full gear and couldn’t imagine what it would be like today if I hadn’t worn gear. Someone 8 months ago switched lanes i to me on the freeway not paying attention and I flew half a football field at 50mph into a hemmoraging coma. When I came to a week later I had no memory and to this day I still have no recollection of not only the accident but even leaving the house. Thank God Im alive and actually I appreciate the lack of PTSD inducing memory. Maybe I would be too scared to ride if I remembered it. R.I.P. Vulcan S. Hello FJ09 😎 riding better than ever now. But I must agree with the Yams. GO AT YOUR OWN PACE!!! it took nearly a month to get comfortable riding again and that was after months of healing from the head injury and almost broken back.

Sooooo glad I saw this video today whfew !!! Man oh man I just 2 weeks ago or so was going 100 mph on the interstate on my CBR600 so pretty slow I felt I was taking it easy mostly because I had my backpack strapped to the rear seat well I went from casually going 100 too my backpack slipping down and getting caught up in my chain and rear tire and then I feel a tiny little pop it felt like a pop kinda and I thought my tire blew but little did I know so I’m assuming I’ve lost traction so I’m tryna throttle my self up to regain traction but i noticed it was completely silent ( because that pop sound was the backpack getting stuck in my rear tire between the wall and the tire so my bike instantly stalled ) so I’m silently sliding at just below 100 mph down the interstate with a bike that’s off I realized so I stood up and was trying to keep it straight and of course I started getting sideways sliding with smoke 💨 everywhere in my rear and boom the bike corrects itself and sends me flying over the other side for a good old Highside from hell so I ragdolled it and let my body go and tumbled down the rode a Waze full gear but my pants and jacke got holes in them so I got minor road rash and I tumbled end over end and happened to land on my feet and was running down the rode my bike sliding next to me upside down lol my GoPro in my face took most the impact cuz it was smashed into strate pieces like I didn’t know gopros could get that destroyed and besides not being able to walk for a few days from soreness I was completely fine no major injuries bikes thrashed but I’m good.. and since then when I get in a bike and try to go fast ish I keep getting mad anxiety and having a panicky attack right when I get to 100 and I thought I was just being a pussy and to push through it but I’m hearing that it’s a normal feeling right? So yea this helped me a lot hearing this.
