You should change the title to Tuono V4 Factory, because the Tuono V4 non-factory actually has lower pegs, and suspension that is more forgiving while -being adjustable. There is a distinct difference between the factory and non-factory. the info in this video can be misleading for those that is interested in the standard Tuono/Touring Tuono. So many of the CONs in this video is not indicative of the standard/touring Tuono.

You definitely got a lot right about this bike. Before I bought my 2020 Tuono 1100 RR, I was a daily rider. Now, the Tuono only comes out from under it's cover on the weekend and the occasional weekday off from work. It's a reward or the perfect escape from life as it requires your full concentration. If I wake up and I'm not feeling 100% on my game...I won't even get on the Tuono. You have to be completely in synch with this bike or it's not even any fun to ride. I respect that. In the end, It's just too God damn beautiful of a bike to wreck.

Is it really all that? I am coming from a 1290 super duke r with power commander, 2 tooth increase in rear sprocket, high torque manual rekluse clutch. I got used to it. That bike had 140is nm of torque and 177 horses. How much more gonzo could this bike be??? I ask because I have a dark tuono v4 factory in my sights at the local dealer. My ktm threw a crank a5 38k. Total catastrophic failure and they would do NOTHING. Thinking this is the next bike. I have 35 years of street experience on the daily. Thoughts and guidance???
@jmiller990
@jmiller990 Жыл бұрын
@@stephenpatton8690 my guess is the 1290 Super Duke might be similar. I still really only take my Tuono out on longer rides on the weekend. In the city, there's little reason to take it out of first gear and never a reason to go above second. Now that I've had this bike for almost two years, I realize how rarely I really get on it. Maybe my next bike will be a 600cc. On the Tuono, if I get on it it's at 100mph in a couple seconds and personally I just don't need a ticket like that messing up my commercial vehicle insurance rates. But, I still love this bike. It's my toy... I keep it looking showroom new.

@@stephenpatton8690 I'm 56 years old...well past the age where I have any interest in dying on a motorcycle or ending up being one of the wrecks I come across multiple times a year here in California from guys who think they can handle their motorcycle...and learn the hard way they can't. Yeah, I'll stick to riding my Tuono when I'm able to invest my full attention to it. You could own that Tuono for 2 years and you'd still never consistently get 75% of it's capability out of it off the track. I don't even have to know your experience level as a rider to know that. The fact is off track roads simply aren't designed for a bike with the Tuono's power. Unless of course, I'm currently exchanging messages with "Max Wrist" in which case we both now your Tuono will end up in a ditch inevitably. 🤣

If your in the market for a DAILY bike I agree that the MT09 is probably the perfect bike for daily use and some weekend shredding. I'll put it like this... The MT09 is a very capable bike, you will be able to keep up with the liter boys in the turns and not fall too far behind on the straights. The MT09 has great power especially if you flash it like most people do. Maintenance cost are lower and running cost are as well. Tuono imo is the jack of all trades, but I do agree it's not the best for commuting. However if you like like speed and some comfort you will be hard press to find a better bike. Not only will you be able to keep up in the turns on the Tuono, but when it comes to straight line performance barely any bike will beat you to 160mph if you have good flash (raced S1000rr, RSV4, R1). When it comes to having the bikes on the side of the tire the Tuono wins imo, but to be fair the Tuono has full ohlins suspension and my old MT09 was stock suspension. At the end of the day they're both great bikes and you will have a ton of fun on either bike. If you need a daily bike buy an MT09, but are looking for a great weekend bike, like speed and don't mind spending more cash you won't be disappointed with Tuono. Just my .02 Had a 2018 MT09 for about a year, logged about 10k miles on it in that year. Traded it in for my 2019 Tuono Factory Summit Attack and have logged about 4k miles on her so far. Man, I really wish y'all had some better curves in TX lol, that last road was not ideal for the Tuono. Gotta take her to the mountains 😉 Ride Safe Everyone

You’ve hit the nail on the head. I’ve owned my 18 Factory for about 2 months now and have realised through tight bumpy roads I’d be way quicker on my MT-07 with its softer suspension and flickability (and less fear of binning an expensive bike). It really is just a flex bike. It’s only when you find those beautiful smooth high speed sweepers that you begin to understand where this bike wants to live - and that’s above 130km/hr

I fear he would have to go a looong way before encountering something like the Stelvio pass you are riding through with your tuono. (Not that the Stelvio is even great, I hate it, always full of tourists). But riding the tuono in the wide plain and dull American highways roads is criminally undermining its potential. Lucky us that we are gifted the Alps here.
@kennigt
@kennigt 2 жыл бұрын
@@lhdrones1775 Well spotted! It is Stelvio, and yes, busy pass, Southern France and Dolomites (besides touristic Gardena) are my favorite Alpine areas. I was there also on my VFR800 and it is not powerful (enjoyable) enough when going uphill (after 180deg bend). Had to reduce to 1st and wait for 7k rpm to have some juice. Tuono goes uphill like a dream. And maybe what is more important it is so much safer to overtake when you have this power. Naked bikes are not for highways, it was not pleasant for me at all. I would even say, I suffer on highways. But when I hit twisty roads it is so much fun to ride, even if I use only first 2 or 3 gears :)

One other point on the Tuono. Once you ride it a couple thousand miles you actually do get a much better feel for the throttle on this bike. Some miles on this bike helps to adjust to it's few quirks and make for a more enjoyable ride. But, you definitely hit a lot of the points about the Tuono.

I'd like to point out that the Tuono today celebrates its 20 years of life, it was in fact released to the press in March 2002. It was born as a special edition of a stripped down Rsv 1000, she was arguably ugly, wild as a beast, with no controls, and she was probably one of the first examples of what we would call today a “hypernaked”.

I was actually kinda worried because I tried one about four years ago and I accidentally scuffed up the demo bike at the dealer (insurance fortunately paid repairs though, about $3k worth). But I got more experience since that happened. And oh my god. This bike is amaaaaazing! It is a glorious V4 sound. Its range is not great though, but I guess that figures for this engine type. You can totally cruise around on the bike with very little ease throttle response very mellow as long as you have it in engine management number three this bike is very easy to drive and there’s no issues with it being too powerful if you just wanna cruise. Everyone’s opinion is different. It’s totally able to be driven anyway you want. Gentle or aggressive it doesn’t matter. It can do both.

It doesn't complain and it obeys my every command with excellent precision. The 1 and only thing I'm not a fan of is it runs hot. Commuting in heavy traffic is not the best and if you want to keep it cool you have to shut it off at the red lights. It's not made for heavy traffic though so I don't have much right to complain if I force it to ride through it. Sometimes I just can't help myself cuz I just always want to ride.

I own a 21 V4 Factory myself, just wanted to comment on the cruise control. It won’t work in Gears 1 and 2 at all. In gears 3-5 it only works as long as you’re sub 6k Rpm because that’s where the exhaust flap will open. Propably they just want you to not cruise around with open flap in 3rd gear, so they rather have u shift up until you either get under the 6k rpm or reach 6th gear. In 6th gear it will allow Cruise Control over 6k rpm. Could probably fix all of that with a tune but at least here in Germany it seems like a sensible thing.

It is a super reasonable thing to do. Mapping won’t change it, at least it didn’t do anything to mine. In Germany probably you are the only ones in Europe that can try that 6th gear cruise at maximum speed legally. I dunno if there is a limit honestly.

Thorough. I think if you had tested the base model, which as you said has fine suspension for most uses, instead of the racier version you would have found it more suitable for daily use. Just bought my bucket list tuono v4 factory, 2016 two days ago. It's showroom minty low miles and a greatly reduced price from new. After ripping around the north okanagan in BC for a few hours,it is the most amazing bike I've owned! If it had 4 wheels, you'd have to call it a Ferrari! Nothing about it annoys me. I'm fortunate to live in the north okanagan region with some of the best twisties around so it's perfect for my retired lifestyle. Get one!

@@Mystic-Herbalist420 I also had a hard time deciding between the 20 and the 21. Price, more aggressive look etc were arguments for the 20. In the end I took the 21 because of the way better display, new styling with better headlights, fuel gauge and because it has 95db stationary. Some of the best Austrian roads are closed for bikes over 95db stationary noise so that was the nail in the coffin for me.

I own a VFR 800 VTEC, 2002. The only upgrade I would do is 2014+ VFR800 or Tuono V4 2021+ if I had the money. The V4 is addictive, nothing feels or sounds like it, I'd never buy anything else. Not even other V4s that have 360* crank. Odd firing order all the way. Even Ducati's V4s don't sound so good. Now that I watched this video I know that you really can't use much of it on the street. I rarely use VTEC on my bike. You really need a good bit of road to push it. With 175HP you need a landing strip. It's actually nice to red line 1st - 2nd - 3rd and not die. Something that is really hard to do on a Tuono. Thanks for the honest review, now I'm even more happy with the bike I currently own and I don't lust for the Tuono anymore. When you look at the non-factory it's luggage is a joke. Small, ugly and asymmetrical. So that's another thing...

I just sold my 2017 Tuono 1100, my dream bike. At 46 years old and riding for 35 years I was so excited to own this bike brand new...but you nailed it here. It's ridiculous for all the reasons you mentioned. I would easily be in the 90-110 mph range without thinking about it and truly after awhile it's pointless for most roadways...

I personally am not interested in owning anything that crazy. The super middleweights are the perfect street bikes in my opinion. But you can definitely use a lot more of this bike than you’re letting on. You don’t have to go 150+ but like 0-100 or getting it over on the side of the tire and blasting out of a turn.

After owning one for 3 years. I traded my Aprilia in for a BMW S1000RR. I wanted something easier to ride fast on the track. The Aprilia was very hard to ride fast. Really disappointed with the way you evaluate this bike. I understand it is not the kind of bike you like. But I think you should evaluate it based on what it is and not what you would expect it to be. It is not a commuter. It has never been designed for it. Yes it is exhausting, but it is exhausting because it is so intense. If you want to be relaxed, buy a boring bike :-) yes it is too much … but we love it
