Miss Duval's servant is killed trying to prevent her flower stand from being destroyed after a protection racket threatens to gain control of the French Market. In utter fear for their lives, the merchants refuse to step forward to Administrator Colton with an official accusation. Yancy and Pahoo decide to help the stall owners battle the thugs.

Interesting how protection racket is condemned but the Amerikan politicians have been running their protection racket for over 200 years and people keep approving of them by voting. Stupid is as stupid does. Amerika is in the toilet. Let's Go Brandon.

The one time Yancy is shown as a crass, low-brow, sleaze. Usually, the sexes even out in the series, in terms of power and control: not this time. The last line of the episode has Yancy stating, with disdain, "What a waste." Women turn his advances aside with regularity, but, until this episode's ending, the refusals have been received fairly graciously. As much as I like the series, (and I own it), this one line destroys the fiction of Yancy Derringer, and it's hard to get past it. Miss Duval is very tactful in her spurning of Derringer. Then, that line? Who allowed this character assassination using a remark known to be the stuff of incompetent, and possibly dangerous, jerks?
