I'll admit I'm not a fan, but I also admit there's alot he can teach me for my prog rock set-up and techniques. His skill and talent are undeniable, also just his programming knowledge in how to patch everything together to trigger sound from multiple sources at once will always be at the cutting edge of modern synth/electronic music. His breakthroughs can be found in every genre that uses synths

I love these behind the scenes videos. It gives so much information as to WHY I love this music so much. I didn't know it was 5 keyboards at once. It's why Yanni's sound is so distinct. He is truly a master musician at knowing the technical aspects of his instruments as well as the creativity of a brilliant composer.

I believe he's using MIDI. He's also using an array of Korg Krome 88s. You can buy a Korg Kronos 2 88 and you'll be able to do a lot more with less keyboards. Only thing is that you will have to pony up about $2,500 Dollars for a refurbished one and or pre-owned. I'd recommend sticking to the 2 88. It's the upgrade from the X and V2.

Grew up loving synths in the 80s, 90s and 00s... bred to think Yanni was ultra-cheesy. Was fun to poke at a New Age artist who's kind of a heart-throb with a big mustache who puts himself on almost every album cover. How things have changed! Yanni, you are a badass & this master class series is an amazing glimpse into your world. You have a new fan.

He was never cheesy. I've liked this music since 1987 when a friend of mine introduced me to it by letting me borrow her _Out of Silence_ cassette tape. I would get annoyed with people when music would come up and I'd mention Yanni. Either they didn't know who he was or they assumed he only played a grand piano, probably because of all of his appearances of daytime shows in which, yeah, he did play a piano. His majestic, high-energy pieces were completely unknown to most people, unfortunately. "Street Level" is one of my favorites. I was hoping to hear it when I was at a concert in the 90s (Dare to Dream tour), but it wasn't played. I don't know if it's ever been played live.

Hearing how you do the keyboard is magnificent. My CDs of Yanni were stolen so I now have to replace them. My favorite is Yanni at the Acropolis..his best of the best......and Yanni, in case you are one day reading this...years ago after I saw your Acropolis on TV...I moved to England for 3 yrs...during that time I had bought a cassette walkman at John Lewis Store in London and I filled out a small card after buying it.....a week later, I got a call from someone in London asking me "Would you like to come to London, give your opinion about Yanni's Acropolis etc".....and I did....I was picked up in a taxi, taken to that little office, fed a sandwich, wine and a candy bar (and paid cash) and enjoyed your video!...then I was asked questions and gave them my real opinions....there was 6 of us..Those questions had to do with your future near visit and they wanted to know which parts of the video music I liked best and why. My basic answer was ROMANCE AND...YOU ALLOWED EACH MUSICIAN TO SHINE.........that it was not all about you...............what a magnificent musician you are. I can't wait to buy your Acropolis again! Keri.

Your style and brilliance make every move you make so enjoyable I really feel like I could learn more from your videos than of the other orchestra members masterclass videos. That's it - you should create a masterclass series of just your keyboard techniques and how you come about creating some of your "signature" sound patches - I would love for you to delve deeper into that type of masterclass video. BTW - thank you very much for these!!! Love your music and your talent. I was able to catch your show recently when you came to Panama City, FL at the Marina Civic Center. He describes his sound at about 5:40 that is programed for his style of playing, also earlier the movement from the shoulder he has developed speed and velocity for that instrument. I understand his duplication on the synths due to same language and programing controls, LFOs, Envelopes, EQ, Effects, etc to get that layered sound which is full. Developing your sound is critical and its yours. He understands his synths and has mastered them, I'm still working on it.

A friend of mine put on the Live at the Acropolis CD, the other night, and It was amazing. Not only is Yanni an incredible musician, so are all of the people that he brings into his band. As a kid, growing up in the 90s, I was taught (by whomever or whatever) to believe that Yanni wasn't "hip" and now, 20 years later I understand from being a musician for most of my life and listening to a lot of different kinds of music, what's "hip" is playing the music you want to play and doing it with absolute passion.

If anyone ever thought that success in music is all about great chops, then welcome to the real world where attitude can and will often overtake chops. Now you all know why we have ONE great Yanni, and 250 or more NOBODIES with great chops. And Yanni DOES have great chops to add to the mix.

Right...and what you think of a more simple term: 'jealousy'??? In the meantime there are 682 of those. They click on Yanni and after they did so, they 'seem' to find 'something' negative or dissapointing in this warm upload................what is wrong with 'their' minds? Making music professionaly isn't an easy job at all...it takes 'all' you got, 'all' you are, it's your 'life'. 682 don't understand and won't, probably. I'd ask them: "Where are 'your' feelings?"

It would be cool to see Yanni do an actual programming master class to show everyone how he actually programs an ENTIRE sound patch like his guitar/dulcimer sound patch using his master/slave keyboard setup! Dear Yanni, is this something you might consider as the subject of one of your future master classes? That would be awesome! I have always wondered how you sampled/programmed that particular sound. I think I read in an article back in the 1990s that you sampled a bouzoki or something like that to layer it in your programming-- any truth to this? That would be awesome to see how you do such a thing-- especially now that you have been able to create that redundancy for all your performance keyboards whether yours or Ming Freeman's-- the duplicity you speak of for productions like yours, I can see how necessary that is to make sure things go smoothly. Did you have a similar arrangement back in the 1990s for your Acropolis concerts and era tours for Bradley Joseph's and Julie Homi's keyboards?

My poodle is named after Yanni. I was very taken with Yanni at the Acropolis when I first learned of him! My husband uses keyboards, but I know nothing about them.

As a Music Photographer for the past 20 years I've been to numerous shows from every genre you can imagine and I can honestly say that the shows Yanni presents are some of the best! I feel privileged to have been witness to some of the best musicians assembled and I'm grateful to Yanni for giving all of us the opportunity to experience them!

As a promotions guy I'm in the same boat. Every genre. What many people loathe to know is many musicians listen to a ton of different genres outside their own either for pleasure ore ideas. Yanni is influences many in the way he produces/programs his keys, the computer triggers he's developed for the setup.

My wife won a competition to see him at The Royal Albert Hall in London , all expenses paid with a Royal Box and lots of champagne and beer, we had been drinking all day, at the end of the concert we were special guests backstage in the VIP area, I could hardly stand we were told he was coming to meet us with his then wife Linda Evans , as he came through the door I took a last gulf of my pint and because I was so drunk virtually poured it over my own head, the couple and my wife who I was with didn't notice me because we were lined up in a row with me on the end, they shook hands with everyone and when it came to me I had beer dripping off the end of my nose with a cheesy grin, i meant to say I love your music, but I just said I love you!! Slurred.. I do remember the music which is credit to his art, but that night I probably wouldn't of recognised my own mother if she introduced herself....
