Incredibly helpful review. I was a huge vintage camcorder dude like hi8 and mini DV stuff but i recently lost my grandpa and he gave me this camera. Mine is the Yashica GTN full black version and it’s in PERFECT condition even got the original shoulder strap and leather case. I wanna start using it especially in a couple days on a road trip that me and my girl are planning. Honestly your review really helped me get the gist on this ol’ guy cause I was kinda lost. Heard that this focus method is kinda hard for newbies but hey i love me a challenge😅😅

The best thing about this camera probably is that the body and mechanism feel extremely robust and extremely luxurious. It is a cheap camera but does not feel cheap at all. The satisfaction from the sound of that film advance mechanism is so great that you just know it was made to last. Rangefinders are known to be great in terms of flexibility and ease of use; and this one is a superb example in terms of performance/price. Can take sharp photos even in dim light.

@o.l48902 жыл бұрын
@@nyasa5362 known brands ,canons like the A-1 for professional work ,Ae-1 (especially program) is a must recommend for beginners, especially the program which give you an option for a semi-automatic camera . But these two have one problem, they need a battery to work The pentax k1000 doesn't, other full analogue are available in cheap price ,I saw once a working zenit with its bag and the other stuff for 10$ , Nikon FM or FM 2 are great .... And of course the N°1 will always be the leica MP (or any other m series) but they have one flaw they are expensive, even more than any digital camera So it really depends on the budget , you can tell me so I could get to the lens factor ,because each one has a mount ,each mount could be more accessible For film stocks I'll recommend starting with expired film or monochrome (black and white) ,you really must stay away from expensive ones because you'll probably ruin your first roll ,and therefore you'll learn how not to wast a single one .... soo yeah it depends on the budget ,it'll help if you were specific
@o.l48902 жыл бұрын
@@nyasa5362 almost forgot the yashica is not worth it because the batteries aren't produced anymore ,and it's super heavy (believe me I had one in hand at a market once ) and I just couldn't imagine it hanging on my neck, and big ,and its fully electric soo after 50 year it won't be in prefect condition (from the inside) so it will be a horrible starter .... Check out some youtube videos about shooting with aperture priority. Setting the ISO correctly (matching your film) and checking that neither light is on is enough to get a picture without overexposure or blur from shaking. Beyond that, the aperture and focusing distance are artistic choices.

does it mean the camera is working if I see the grid when looking in the view finder but the slow and over do not light up?
@cherrypepsi2815 Жыл бұрын
No, the grid isn't electronic Check your battery; flip the camera over and use a coin (a nickel works best) to unscrew the bottom hatch Three things can happen: The best: there's no battery in it The okay: there's a (dead) battery in it The bad: there's a corroded battery in it If there's no battery, that's perfect. Just make sure to exercise the shutter and self timer frequently until your battery (and battery adapter***) arrives. If there's a battery, just take it out and hope there isn't any corrosion and reference the steps above. If there's a corroded battery, you'll have to do some fixing.

Buster Photo I am usually indoors but I want to test it outside too. What would be the best camera setting for indoors versus being outdoors?

yup das me it all depends on how bright you indoor shot is. I would set it to 1.7 if you are indoors without flash. Just to get the most light possible. But even at 1.7 you will probably still get the slow light. If you have to shoot indoors and there isn’t much light then I would use a tripod.

If the camera not using battery, is it still can use? Or without battery we cannot use the camera?
