Great reaction, ladies !!! ....Let me help you with the KISS timeline, because it is a bit confusing if you dont know the band very well... KISS was formed in 1973 and wore the makeup until 1983 (...during that time period, the band members actually refused to be photographed w/o makeup, they wanted to maintain the mystique) ...The makeup stayed OFF until 1996, that is when all four original members reunited for the mega-successful worldwide "Reunion Tour"... I was not at this concert but the kiss concert I saw in 1983 was the best and wildest concert I had been to. Loved it. And very loud.

Very few live shows compare to a KISS live show. Saw them my first time in 76. Unbelievable.

The current lineup consists of the original four designs : the "Starchild" (Paul Stanley), the "Demon" (Gene Simmons), the "Spaceman" ("Space" Ace Frehley), and the "Catman" (Peter Criss). The band formerly included a practice of giving any new members a new persona, such as "The Fox" for Eric Carr and "The Ankh Warrior" for Vinnie Vincent ; this practice was ended after Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer took up Frehley's "Spaceman" and Criss's "Catman" personas. When asked on the matter, Simmons stated "Why wouldn't we use the classic makeup? We own it". Criss relinquished his rights to his makeup when he left the band in 2004, which he later regretted, saying "I'm pissed at myself that my makeup slipped through my hands"; while Frehley claims he licensed his design to the band and would get it back, a notion which Stanley has called "a fantasy". During 1973-1974, Stanley occasionally used an alternative makeup design called the "Bandit" for select photo-shoots and live shows after Neil Bogart, head of Casablanca Records, suggested to him that he use a design that was symmetrical like those of the rest of the band. During this time, he was also still using the Starchild makeup - sometimes even using both designs at the same photo-shoots. In 1974 (the same year the debut album was released), he stopped using the Bandit design permanently. On the cover of the band's debut album, Criss used a drastically different variation of his Catman makeup (dubbed the "Pantomime Cat") after he allowed the makeup artist at the shoot to use their own ideas instead of following the usual design. Carr was originally going to be the "Hawk", a design which Simmons recalled in his autobiography looked like Big Bird from Sesame Street. One photo of Carr wearing this proposed design exists today, and also one of a mannequin Stanley set up wearing the proposed makeup and outfit. Unlike the Bandit and Pantomime Cat, this alternative design was never used in any official capacity. The Hawk design was also considered for Vincent and Singer. Mark St John and Bruce Kulick were members of KISS only during the non-makeup period (1983-1995 = Unmasking, 1995-2001 = Reunion & Return of the Makeup). Kulick stated that had he ever worn makeup in the band, he would have liked to have been the "Dog" : "I figure that since there's already a cat in the band, I should probably be the dog. I'd have a big circle around one eye and I'd look like Petey from the Little Rascals. I've actually seen one or two fan renditions of what that might look like, so yeah, I'd be the Dog." The four original makeup designs have been registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office, with ownership and licensing rights held by Simmons and Stanley.

I think 70s Kiss is awesome, 80s Kiss is different but awesome, 90s Kiss is different but awesome, 00s Kiss is different but awesome, 10s Kiss is different but awesome. There is something to be enjoyed from every era of Kiss - it's not all the same but it's all fun music. Enjoy what you enjoy, ladies!

The performance you just watched was from 2003 in Australia. The prior video you watched was from 1987. KISS took the makeup off in 1983 and put it back on in 1996 with the 4 original members. In this video there was only 3 of the original guys i.e. Gene Simmons on the bass,Paul Stanley the lead singer and Peter Criss on the drums. The lead guitar player is Tommy Thayer, who took over for original guitar player Ace Frehley.

I've seen KISS for like 8 times, always fun!! But by far the greatest was when they came to Mexico City back in 97 with mighty PANTERA!! Imagine that, it was awesome!!

I always get surprised this song is better than i judge it since it came out.. And yes, at age of 11-12 in school around -75 we did a playback and i was Ace. The 'solo' is short but damn it hits so good, the tunes and last high note he keeps killing me everytime, and the part with drums radda-radda-da-da along witth the Lovely tunes from the guitar just before the above mentioned note ending it all. Saw them once, and try to realize this: Iron Maiden was warm up band

This was in Australia, Melbourne to be exact. I hope you can react to more KISS LIVE PERFORMANCES especially in the 1996-2013 era. The put on some fantastic shows during this time period. Also remember in this video these guys are in their 50's

Kiss wore makeup 1974 - 1982, 1983 - 1995 they did not wear makeup and then put the makeup back on 1996 to current. This symphony concert was in 2002 so yes probably sounded more modern although the song Love Gun was off their album released in 1976

If you would like to experience the real KISS, then you need to listen to the original members; Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter live. Kiss is one of those bands that are better live than studio. I highly suggest, youtube title: KISS - Black Diamond - 1975 promo (High Quality). Also what is great about Kiss is that all the members shared the singing, but Paul did the lions share. Or can go for a 11 minute 3 song flavor set: KISS - Deuce / Strutter / Got To Choose [ Winterland 1/31/75 ]. Just remember these are recorded in the 70's so its not HD, lol.

this was the third time i seen Kiss it was in Melbourne Australia greatest rock show in the world and the only way to listen to them got tickets for there final shows in Melbourne 2021 but was put back to March 2022 because of Covid and dont know how Paul Stanley is going to recover from Covid im afraid i might never see them again if ya get the chance i reccomend you see them you will have a great time and something you wont forget and oh yeah greeetings from Australia

This wasn't classic '70's KISS. This was recorded in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia for the Alive IV album. In 1996 KISS did a reunion tour with the original members, but that didn't last, unfortunately. By the time this was recorded Ace Frehley (lead guitarist) had left, so Tommy Thayer took over his role. The song "Love Gun" came off of the album of the same name in 1977. One of their best album covers ever, and the first album that I saw and heard when I was just 4 years old. If you want to watch vintage KISS at their best, I would suggest Coventry, NY '73 or Winterland '75. You could also watch KISS on "ABC's In Concert" or on "The Midnight Special."

This band is the only reason I have ever been arrested. I tried to buy tickets for the Kiss reunion tour from a scalper outside the arena in Cleveland Ohio back in 2000. The scalper I found on the street outside the arena was an undercover cop. He asked if I was looking for tickets and when I handed him the cash I got taken down like I was trying to buy drugs or something. I ended up having to get bailed out of jail and I got a fine when I went to court.

This concert is from 2002. KISS put the make-up back on in 1996 with the original 4 members. They stayed together until 2000. After that Ace Frehley, guitarist & Peter Criss, drummer,left again, in 2001 & 2002. Peter returned for this show and a follow-up tour in 2002-03 and has been out of the band since.

I went to this show , I say it was the best Kiss concert I’ve been too .

I know that Kiss did all full makeup in the 70's however they did put it back on again in the 80's, 90's and in the 2000's. So even though the Love Gun Album came out in the late 70's I think that show could be 80's because that guitar player doesn't look like Ace Frehley. It looks more like Bruce Kulick. Who Ace even said he thought was the best guitar player out of all the ones who replaced him in the band. And the sister on the right was cracking me up the way she was moving her head around during those marching drum parts of the song.

I'm going to see KISS in October in Fort Worth (Texas) for their End of the Road Tour...THE...SINGLE and ONLY time I'll ever see them in concert...I'm 35 in July and have been listening to them since I was a little kid!! I can only seeing Paul swinging from the rafters and landing on the stage so gracefully as he did in here...if y'all want suggestions on other songs by KISS...Strutter (Ace Frehley is the lead singer in this one)...I Was Made For Lovin You...Detroit Rock City...Psycho Circus...100,000 Years...Cold Gin...Beth (Peter Criss sings this one)...Christine Sixteen (Gene Simmons sings the lead in this one)...Paul Stanley is the main lead singer but the other fellas have sang their lead parts in songs as well and those are just a few of the songs the other three sing the leads in...Shout It Out Loud...the list goes on and on coming from a KISS fan who has been listening as long as I have...I still have yet to come across a horrible song by KISS...if that helps at all

Yes KISS WITH Make Up is Older than with out and Love Gun is a 70s song but an awesome choice the orchestrated song. With out Make up Check out UnHoly. Or Tears are falling, Heavens On Fire, With Makeup 100,000 years live. Or Let Me Go RockNRoll. ALL are good

KISS started with makeup and pyrotechnics in the 1970s. In 1982, the "glam" style and pyrotechnics was toned down somewhat because it was considered "out of style". Then the "gringe" scene happened and concerts were little more than watch someone could watch on MTV. KISS saw this as an opportunity to bring back the "big" stage shows and it paid off BIG TIME! Sadly two original members could keep of with tge hectic schedule and demanding stage shows. The are now doing "The End of the Road" Tour and are going to officially retire. They've earned it!

KISS is the highest energy band ever...keep in mind Gene,Paul and Pete are in their early 70's...I first saw them in 1977 and will be saying good bye this year,and have seen them over 40 times...if you never saw them in concert you really screwed up...

Kiss in the makeup very cool, unique, check out the vinyl album dynasty. I would listen to that album on my record player for two hours to eight. I never went to there concert. The difference between the two songs you covered was the non-makeup was written and released in 1988 when hair metal band were exploding onto the scene and rock changed. Despite this actual performance being in 2003, the song was written and released in 1977. Totally different era and band. The band playing Reason To Live is half the original band. The band playing Love Gun with the MSO is 3/4 the original band. Neither clips you have seen have the original lead guitarist Ace. Ace is a GOD. The music written in tb3 70s was awesome and their classic stuff. The band was younger, hungrier and the chemistry was there onstage and when writing songs, even if only one band member wrote a song. Anyway there is a lot of history to know to be able to understand why stuff you see is different.
