The whole troup are born blind and they were busking in front of a famous shopping mall in KL. The composer was at his wits end when the original singer quit the band and he had to find replacement immediately. Someone told him to observe them busking and the rest was history

My tears burst every time i see this performance, without fail. This is their (caliph buskers) 1st performance on national tv. They were buskers previously untill one day the composer of this song offered them to perform this song in AJL.

Oh my god didn't think you would react to them, but thank you! I've been the biggest fan of Caliph Buskers (CB) since this debut. This is literally their debut. No one really heard of them before this, but some did know them because they were doing busking around Kuala Lumpur city for years before this performance. This song (Romancinta) belongs to Mojo. But they had some issues with the vocalist who couldn't sing at AJL29 final. Mojo's leader, Edry, bumped into CB through social media, someone uploaded a video of them singing (busking on the street) the same song on KZfaq. So they decided to call CB to perform with them at AJL29. This performance won Best Performance at AJL29. Like Marsha's recent performance, it touched people's hearts. Azmi, CB's vocalist, may be blind but God blessed him with a gift that not many people have. And the rest of the band are equally talented too.

Malaysian just loved how the marginalized group of OKU ( Orang Kurang Upaya or The Disable ) streets musicians whom were hand picked by the composer himself out of obscurity into the center stage of the most prestigious music award in Malaysia,AJL. Despite their inexperience in terms of sheer scale of the music production, only their talent, they nailed the performance in terms of vocal quality and showmanship. That's probably why Malaysian are mesmerized and captivated by this performance.

the song was create for MOJO band. they were listed in Malaysia Music Award (Anugerah Juara Lagu -AJL). by the time of the final round. the vocalist of MOJO left the band due to attitude problem. and they invited Caliph Busker as replacement. they actually are a Suprise performance on the final. caliph busker were unknown to people ( maybe outside KL - Kuala lumpur area ). and when the light comes, the audiences were suprise by them. Never perform on a prestige platform or that kind of audience, yet they manage to give the best performance and show that night. till this day. this is one of the best suprise performance i ever saw.

I would have to say that this is a LEGENDARY performace. No one know who will replace the original singer, with the high notes and all. Seeing it LIVE at home, and just the band choose a disable group able to deliver the song, and they just nailed it. I'm literally screaming at my own house.

This was a memorable singing for AJL 29..Although the blind lead singer named Azmi but it was Epic performance. Till now loved their performance all the times.

Actually they are new comer that time, before AJL, nobody know who will sing this song. The previous singer for Mojo was Aweera but he has left the group because conflict with the group member. Mojo band leader (Edry) found the band Caliph busker busking in a street in KL and bring them to AJL. The rest is history.

You were right abt the lady being in Ernie’s video. Actually all of them were in the video. They were hired as session musician at that TV program (Meletop) after their debut at AJL. And to answer your question abt pronunciation, no there’s no problem with his pronunciation. Everything was perfect.

For me, this is a special performance. And they deserved to get the best performance of the night.

Oh my, I remember this moment. At that time, this song was popular and so many people love this song, however, the actual singer of this song has some problem with the composer and as far as I know, the singer resigned/getting fired near the AJL29 time. During that time, we were sympathize with the composer and also quite upset with the situation that happened. However, luck was on our side, as the composer found Caliph Busker on the street singing this song, and thus inviting them to replace the actual singer. We as an audience, was actually shock at first with the composer decision. However, despite this is their first time on the big stage, they handle it quite well.

They are buskers who perform on the streets but given opportunity to sing this song by Edry (maybe song writer if not mistaken), originally sang by Aweera and Mojo. They also appear as music band for tv talk show, Meletop. Edry is the guy playing keyboard at 6.49.

I could still remember days after this AJL, me and friends kept listening to this version even during our lecture 🤣🤣🤣

This is like the most moving performance and forever always be the most memorable performance. Legendary clip! ♥️✨

AJL 29 is one of the most prestigious music award ceremony in Malaysia. The original song was sang by Aweera, ex vocalist of the band Mojo. During this award, Aweera is already out of the band but the song is already nominated in AJL so the band Mojo invited Caliph Buskers which is actually a visually impaired street performers that no one knows of their existence thru out Malaysia. But during this show, the crowd didnt expected that Mojo would invited the visually impaired Caliph Buskers to sang this song. That's why this is one of the most epic and special performance ever in the history of AJL award.

You will be surprised to watch his performance...this guy is born blind with power vocal..and this a first time ever he did performed on the very big stage...very prestige event and unexpected delivery of performance.. He managed to limelight audience with his voice. His pronunciation is flawless and crystal clear.. He was nobody..he is a plain guy and no one notice him before...He was a busker singer who singing on the street to entertain people for survive. One fine day, the composer of this song passby his performance on the street. it was finally turn him to the idea and invite him to replace the existing singer who cannot perform due to some reason. everyone puzzled who is going to perform that nite..when the light on...everyone shocked..and the response by audience was preciously... he deserved standing ovation. The rest is a history..He is now very popular and this moment was change his life tremandously. fly high calip busker!! (sorry for my poor english!)

Imagine busking on the sidewalk one day and the next day you & your band are on the biggest stage, performing the biggest song, on the biggest night of the year for music in Malaysia. And the original band taking the back up role. The audience don't know who Mojo will bring to replace the lead to deliver the song. Imagine the shock the whole audience had to see this group of blinds who took the stage and the audience and the biggest prize of the the night. It gives me the chills every time I see this performance and tears drop thinking how great God is. Miracles do happen... And Edry's brilliant plan won the song and with Caliph Buskers, won the hearts of Malaysia.

The composer is Edry "the magician" a very talented artist from KRU band.

Singer's replacement is not uncommon in AJL and often, if not at all time, accompanied with a huge controversy surrounding it. This song was actully mojo's and have their own vocalist but there is some issue happen before the final and edry as the song writer found caliph busker busking on the road and fall in love with their voice and make them join to be the vocalist to sing this song.. thats what makes the crowd cheers so loud since caliph buskers first time performing on stage and the stage was huge..
