YEAR LONG TEST - TAMACYCLE NETWRAP - GOOD OR BAD SILAGE??

So back in May 2023 we tried Tamacycle edge to edge netwrap which contains 30 percent recycled plastic from used netwrap - a first in the industry by Tama in partnership with Healix. Nearly a year on from baling we find out what the silage has fermented like.

Very interesting review of the net wrap, if i wasn't told it was partly recycled material i would never have guessed, it held together very well untill the bale was opened. I use Tama edge to edge black and white net but im going to look out for this Tamacycle net and give it a try, will be doing another small bit for the environment too by using it.

Hallo george Nice Film from making silage round bales. That the edge where receylit its a good think the plastic too.for good Qualität lay the moved gras two days on the field than came the press and making round bales with full pressure and plastic around the bales that no air came to the dry gras

Good little vid George, farming is changing and recycling is the future... by the way when are we getting some more drone action. Blackcats must be rolling on now and i think this weeks weather is better so can we have some more sky high action please???..👍

One of the main reasons we don't see more recycled plastic is because it's still cheaper to make new. Very rarely recycled plastic will be worse then new when it comes to quality as long as you can have a clean source material. As long as your not dealing with plastic types that can't be recycled from the get go do to the composition of the plastic.

Good video George 👍 does the amount of recycled plastic that goes into new net wrap increase percentage wise if Tama has plenty of recycled material in stock 🤔

Did you any of the recycled wrap on straw bales. curious how it held up exposed to the sunlight and elements over winter compared to the new virgin net wrap.

Looks pretty good to me, there will be those who might struggle to get onboard with the idea. Is there a big price difference between the two types?

it should be round the same price as companies that use recycled plastics in their products get government grants, but in reality most companies like to take from both sides to maximise profits

@@HootMaRoot thanks for the info 👍 I do think it’s the way forward now and that people in time will get onboard with it, well either in they’re own time or when the .gov tells farmers they have to. I remember it would be every Sunday morning I’d be out burning a weeks netwrap from all the straw and silage bales, not to sure I’d get away with that now

@@petelamps6055 true it's the only way to go now, but most plastic item manufacturers had already been using up to 5% recycled plastic. Dam if you get caught burning plastics on a farm these days it's something like max £50000 fine

No george the white plastic is the way to go, Only netting here in Ireland on hay and straw. Silage is mostly all plastic now wouldn't go back to netting for nobody.
