You mention pursuing your children's hearts during off weeks. This resonates with me deeply! It's so easy to have large quantities of time without having the quality time. It's something I feel the Holy Spirit has been pressing on my heart recently.

Thank you for sharing! This is the second summer that we are choosing to homeschool year round. I love that we can get four day school weeks, relaxed holiday seasons and random mental health days when needed. Year round schooling allows us to customize the school schedule to fit our families needs.

Very helpful! I would love to see a mock schedule of what a year-round schedule looks like on paper though!!!🙂

My husband and I are interested in the year round schedule particularly to enjoy all the seasons and have flexibility. Finally, we are in our first year after pulling our 6 and 8 year olds from public school, and we want to avoid the “summer slide” in learning that always happened in some subjects. Thanks for the thoughtful video😊

So glad I’m finding this video now! After going through a Heath crisis we were behind a month and it was stressing me out! We are going year round for the first time now... wish us luck! ❤️

Thank you! I have really wrestled with the same things and this is the first year we are trying a year round schedule. I really noticed last year that my kids needed a break when it was not the “conventional” time for a break. I decided that choosing my schedule was one of the beautiful parts of homeschooling ( I just have to get over myself and my traditional tendencies:) )

You have explained things so clearly to this new homeschool mom....so 🙏🏽 thank you! My son is in 9th grade and it can be challenging some days🤔 however it’s been mostly good days! We’re happy with our decision as a family! Thanks I learned a lot

We do year round since we started. We go at my daughters speed, and the only breaks we really take is 1 week for her birthday Christmas and thanksgiving. Then there are those random days..which happens almost every other week 😅😅. And random trips.

We do the year round as well and were trying to get an early start so that our 4-6 wk break at the end would fall more at the beginning of May. Then, we started looking for a house.... so it’s all sporadic now. Thankful to have that flexibility in our days so that when unexpected outings come up, we don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Great video as always!

Have you ever just focused on your LA and Math during the school year and then focused on science and history over the summer?

Great video - this was SO helpful!! I have actually been wrestling with this exact topic for the last week after feeling overwhelmed with our homeschool rhythms and schedules!! Very insightful and helpful - thanks for sharing!! One question - at what point do you start planning, ordering curriculum, prepping for the next school year?

We have always schooled year round, but don’t talk scheduled breaks....basically it’s been my kiddos life’s since birth...works for us...

Exactly. My son is 4. Most 5. We have unschooled since birth. I just checked our state standards for grades K and 1. To my surprise, he has mastered all k standards and about half of first grade standards now, a month before the START of kindergarten. This is going to be a breeze...compared to public or private school outside of home. I was just curious what the government school would teach in grade k compared to what I teach. I accomplish much more in like 1/10th of the time spent.
