1) I wonder how many lbs of dirt you washed out of that thing. 2) You have the patience of Job! 3) I will NEVER EVER complain about the cost of cleaning one lovely carpets again!!! 4) I’m going to get a gift Certificate for my carpet guy to take his wife out to dinner. He rejuvenated some very old rugs that my Great Grandparents had gotten on trips to the Middle East. They have been passed down from family for a lot of years! They finally came to me, as they were soooo dirty and they are so outdated. I complained about the price of cleaning when I took them in, but when I brought them home, they were gorgeous (colors were brilliant)! Wow! This process is just incredible!! Thank you so much for sharing 🙏

I don't usually comment much on youtube. This is the best carpet cleaning video I've ever seen. Greetings from Turkey 🇹🇷👋🏻 Since our childhood in Turkey, everyone washes carpets on the street. we grew up with them . We traditionally washed the carpets, but we had a lot of fun. We used to have a lot of fun with the brush and foam in our hands. my all-time favorite was to squirt water out of the carpet quickly with a stick. Our mothers used to wet all the children with water and finish the job.😁 but the work you do is professional. may Allah ( God) make it easy for you 🙃🌹👍🏻

I’m watching some good ol’ boys working hard, helping each other, and keeping beautiful rugs from going out to pasture. My favorite thing regarding cleaning is the flushing. Something I think could be a very interesting addition to these videos is a before-and-after weight. Weigh it upon arrival, and weigh again after its clean and dry, then that weight difference would give you a good idea of the volume of dirt that the rug was holding onto.

So satisfying!! I like the fact that you kept going until all the dirt was gone (not just a set routine, but each rug requires a different treatment). Also for all the people talking about water use, how else do you get all the dirt and soap out? I have a rug that I would love to have cleaned this way. It’s not visibly dirty, but I imagine after years of not being washed and being in front of a fireplace it must be mess. Using the water to flush the dirt from under the rug is amazing as well as that heavy rinse on top.

As for water use, I can't speak for this business, but I've detailed for more than one car dealership, and different places have different methods. I worked at one place that recollected and filtered the dirty water for reuse. I have a feeling that this place does the same thing, being that this process is done on top of a giant grate.

A specific step like that is irrelevant because of the final cleaning in the centrifuge. The treatment with the rug shampoo and water and squeegeeing and all that is to free up the dirt and stuff deeply stuck in the rug. If there's a bit left behind on the surface, it gets washed off in the end anyway.

@xdragon2k

I was thinking instead of putting the rug on a flat surface, put it on a grate so the dirty water can just go downward through the grating instead of sitting back in the rug itself. Then use a shopvac to suck dirty water from the top too (those that can't go down). That way you don't be transferring all the dirt from the center (or outside) back onto the rug.

Dirt is held in suspension in the liquid, pressure washing would likely damage the rug while just pushing dirt deeper into the pile. Using a surfactant is the best way to clean dirt and oil off textiles, there's a reason why you don't wash your clothes using high pressure jets. Quite frankly even using this level of scouring is pretty extreme, while a rug is made to be durable this is very extreme. Ideally this would best be done in a very large vat that allows water to circulate around the rug, passing through several rollers, that bend and agitate the fabric without scouring it.

To my mind once the cleaning process has been done on the floor it should be hung to rinse, this will allow the dirt to escape with the rinse water as its clear that a good deal of dirt is being held under the rug as you try to rinse it on the floor.

@@gegwen7440 yes some rugs that have a very solid construction can be washed directly on the grates. We don’t typically do this because we see shadowing of the grates in the rugs and after washing thus we clean them on the white paneling on top of the grates so soap and water is evenly displaced.

I don't know how this appeared in my recommendations but I'm glad it did. Oddly relaxing. Reminds me tremendously of when I used to work for a tent company and we would wash them. But brings up a question: about how you squeegee. We were told to ALWAYS go from the inside out and NEVER edge to edge, to make sure that any dirt was pushed outwards and not back over parts that had been cleaned. Watching this I'm wondering why you wouldn't do this. Seeing you start at a dirty edge and push all that filthy water over the entire length gave me shivers. Not complaining though. Just wondering. Perhaps it is just years of getting yelled at coming back to haunt me. lol

Wouldn’t alot of that back side dirt has rinsed down and not stuck to the front side if you’d rinsed over the grated surface? Just seems this might be more time saving. I also am not a rug cleaning professional so what the heck do I know haha but figured I’d ask anyways. Cheers and absolutely love watching!

Lol, I also wanted to know this exact thing! They've got a lovely plastic grated floor there, why not just place the rug directly on that? Dirt would flow right through! I'd kill to have a cleaning floor like this! I've cleaned my own rugs a few times, and having this setup would just make everything SO much easier!

My first guess is weight and not wanting to damage the rug. If you put it on a grated surface, it would help with removing dirt, but you also put more weight on less surface area of a rug. It seems to me that it may damage the rug since they often have to step on it while cleaning and you don't want the grates cutting into the rug in any way. Im not a professional either, but thats my two cents.

If you look closely, the entire place is grated and there are white sheets that have been put on top of the grate. I imagine this is done so viewers see the dirt come out. That is, after all, the satisfying hook.

They probably WANT the rug to float a bit. Forcing the dirt down through the rug is probably harder than letting the dirt float up out of the rug, which can only happen if the water isn't draining downward.

I am enjoying your videos... my only feedback as someone who gets motion sick... is that it's hard with all the flipping of the camera angles. Some of the motions aren't so bad with the right over the carpet, like when you use the scrubber... but when squeegeeing, I just had to close my eyes. I don't know if this helps or not. I appreciate the extra explanations too. :) nice!

What a shyster! That before pic at the end was the rug when it was waterlogged which drastically darkened it thus distorting our perception of how dirty it was and how "clean" it looks by comparison! Go look, people.

Curious about that platform you guys clean the rugs on. Does that just drain the greywater, or do you guys filter and recycle it?

I'm insanely curious as to how much something like this would cost. This seems like hours of work and quite a lot of product used. This has got to be a few hundred dollars, ballpark? I presume this is the kind of cleaning that would only get done on an older valuable rug that you wouldn't want to replace

i know, the last video i saw like this everyone was in the comments talking about how much water was wasted and "to get a cheap, machine washable rug" like ?? This seems like a better use of water than a car wash... and to extend the life of something like that, and potentially expensive rugs as well! I don't think i could even get a machine washable rug... it wouldn't be the same after 1 wash.

Inertia sometimes, and also not having any place within reasonable distance, plus getting the rugs to and fro. Ours definitely are past due but aren’t awful. Fortunately where we’re moving soon has a place that specializes in oriental style rugs. We have a prayer rug and a narrow rug from my Grandpa. Both are over 100 years old and it will be terrific to get them some professional care.
