How to setup the transmit audio on the Yaesu FT-710 and also how to use the Voice memory storage. Ham Radio, Amateur Radio. SSB, Audio, TX settings, Mic gain, speech processor, AMC, Transmit.

WOW ! What a great video. I wanted to enhance my highs and attenuate my lows for DX quality. You not only gave me my needed information, but you also explained how to use this type of equalizer. Yaesu uses a much different way to taylor the audio than Kenwood does. Thanks again, Barry de KU3X

If you go to settings and take the power meter off avg and set it to peak power the comp meter seems to work normally

The reason the compression meter never shows more than 5 is because it refers to a 5:1 compression level ( which would be far too high ). never use more than 2....some would say 3 but in my opinion that is "Pinching" the edges of your audio.

Maybe someone already mentioned this, but the issue with the compression meter is a known issue for Yaesu. Hopefully it will be rectified in the next firmware issue. 73's. AF4RF

Thanks for sharing this video! Is the memory recordings useful to see how you will sound over the air after tinkering with the EQ’s? Just wondering if that’s a good tool to help dial in the EQ settings. Thanks 73!

Do the TX eq settings get used when you use the voice record feature, in other words can you test your settings with it vs transmitting to another station ? Thx 73

Yes, actually how I setup my audio was by recording to the 710 then with the 710 hooked into my dummy load I listened on my IC-7300 as I played the recording from the 710

Nice concise explanations. Thank you I have a question; what adapter are you using and with which mic or headset? I notice the yellow plug and know that is not standard issue. I am trying to get my Yamaha CM500 to work with the 710 so I am adapter shopping. 73 KN6ZVI

Actually I was using a Marshall condenser mic with a Heil adapter for Yaesu rigs.

I did mention this in the video: Mic Gain 60, Processor 30, AMC 100, P Prmtrc1 300hz level -8 BW 2, P Prmtrc2 1300hz level 2 BW 2, P Prmtrc3 2400hz level 10 BW 1. Keep in mind your voice is different than mine so you will want to tweak the settings to your voice.

Sure about AMC? A friend in Tennessee has the FTDX101d. By watching several on-line receivers, I discovered his signal had what looked almost like an unsupressed upper sideband on 75-meters. Apparently, other hams see this same issue with their signals and blame the AMC. Thoughts?

Well, I have looked at my FT-710 on the spectrum analyzer and it is clean, I am not sure what AMC would have to do with that problem. AMC is simply a limiter for mic gain.
