Yeelight LED strip 1s + LED bulb 1s - x Razer Chroma?! Full walkthrough Review [Xiaomify]

Yeelights' new LED strip 1S and their LED bulb 1S just got Razer Chroma integration which is pretty exciting stuff! Is it any good? Let's find out! Yeelight is giving away a set to the subscribers of my channel. Find the Yeelight 1S bulbs here on AliExpress: bit.ly/XMF_YL1S
The Yeelight 1S bulb has been out for a few months, whilst the LED strip 1S has just been announced and should be up for sale soon. And there's not THAT much new with these in terms of the tech specs, besides better Apple Homekit integration and Razer Chroma support. -And especially the Razer Chroma support is a very interesting feature that will get lots of people excited.
How the integration works is relatively easy. Make sure that the bulb and/or led strip are in the Yeelight APP where you can enable "Lan Control". Once LAN-control is enabled these two should appear in the Yeelight Razer bridge on the computer. -Here you can additionally group them if needed.
From the Razer Synapse APP you can set up the lighting effects in the "Studio" tab to have the lights synchronize with any other Razer products that you have installed. So I could have lighting effects on the mouse, mousepad, keyboard as well as the light strip and the LED bulbs. And that can give some cool results.
You can also enable the lights to react to audio, whether that is from the audio-output or the audio-input like a microphone. Best feature (in my opinion) is to have the lights react to the overall color on the screen. This gives a Philips-Ambilight type-of experience as the lights will really follow the colors on-screen and this looks very nice!
And last, but not least, the lights will react to Razer Chrome-enabled games. This means all kinds of lighting effects will be triggered by in-game events and this gives some really nice and interactive results!
The Razer Synapse APP (and the Yeelight integration) are only available for Windows though, which might disappoint some of you Apple users out there...
Overall I really like the Yeelight Chroma integration, and it gave me some super cool results. The only thing I would like to see added in a version 2 of the LED strip would be gradients (like left-to-right color gradients) and possibly animated gradients.

haha yeah the audio-enabled ones might be a bit much! Unless the color difference between the set colors are not that big. -Perhaps like mid-blue -> light blue so that the change is not giving you an episode :)

Best feature (in my opinion) is to have the lights react to the overall color on the screen. This gives a Philips-Ambilight type-of experience as the lights will really follow the colors on-screen and this looks very nice! HOW TO DO THIS IN THE STUDIO ??? i have 2 bulbs and can't separately view them in the studio. Just shows as one " yeelight " and the screen colour goes to both the bulbs :/

I use the 1s strip together with razer synapse but when watching dark scenes it goes full green or red. Bright scenes are accurate. Is this common with the yeemee strip?

Heard about this during Razer Con 2020, and that I have an entire array of peripherals by the Singaporean Gaming Company... Still planning to get a Blade 15 tho. I'm quite the fanatic for Razer and their Chroma RGB thing as a whole. Not to mention that Singapore is a beautiful city. I'm heavily into both!

i just set my bulb up with chroma and when i do spectrum cylcing the bulb is very choppy when cycling through the colors unlike my razer blackwidow which transitions through the colors very smoothly. Does this happen with yours aswell?

The reason why you can't do gradients is because it would require each LED diode to be individually addressable and that increases cost massively and makes it impossible to add extensions to the LED strip.

yeah I figured this as well. But perhaps as an alternative strip ("V2G" with fixed length) that would look so cool (depending on your use) For ceilings doesn't add much, but behind a desk it would surely look cool to have a gradient :)

Has anyone managed a way to ungroup the yeelights? The settings in the app on the com doesnt seem to work and they're all stuck to one spot on my chroma app even though the lights surround my room. it's really hard to diffuse the lights.

I am a huge razer fan that had a collection of razer items, and have a 4m Yeelight lightstrip plus inside my room. So I was really excited when I got to hear that Razer supported Yeelight, do that I can control my room lighting just using Razer Chroma. But only to realise only the 1S version is supported…Do you think that other Yeelight products will also be supported in the future? I am really looking into it

the yeelight connector app isnt set and forget like it should be, everytime razer synapse couldnt connect w my yeelight 1s because i need to turn on the yeelight connector app in windows, which dosent even offer a start-up on boot option in Windows... smart lighting is supposed to simplify living, not complicate it.

Is your pc on Ethernet or WiFi ? I heard if your pc is using an ethernet connection the chroma connection won’t work with Yeelight ?

Hey! I have a problem and I cant find any solution to it. I have the Yeelight LightStrip 1s connected in my Yeelight app on my phone, it worked perfectly fine for the last 3 years I think. I just discovered the Yeelight Studio desktop app and I also have Razer Ornata V2 keyboard, but for some reason, the Yeelight Station app doesn't detect my strip. I have the latest firmware updates on every device, everything is up to date, all my devices are connected to the same Wifi network, I don't have any kind of antivirus turned on or stuff like that. Lan Mode is activated in the mobile app. Does anyone know any other solution? Thanks in advance!

Some questions : Do you need to keep the Yeelight app running ? Also , does this work even without the Yeelight app at all ?

Yeah the APP keeps running (if you mean the windows APP) and it won't work without the APP. On your phone you would need to use the Yeelight APP as well to enable the LAN control, but I guess if you normally use them with Mi Home you could just switch back to using Mi Home after enabling the LAN control though..

I actually have it on both. I am logged in yeelight app with my xiaomi account and that synchronized the lights automatically with the yeelight app. There I set up that lan control, after that it works with chroma, yeelight app and the mi home app as well. No problems here. Hope that helps

Is your PC connected to the Ethernet or using Wi Fi? Because I cannot find my Bulds in the Yeelight Chroma Connector on my Fix computer, but I can find them on my Portable pc using the Wi Fi, I wanted to know if maybe I'm doing something wrong and it should also work with the ethernet.

My PC is connected over WiFi. You have the 1S lightbulbs? Might be a firmware update for the bulb, can check that in the yeelight app if there is any update available?

Hi! So I have the Yeelight Smart LED Colour Bulb 1S, I have connected it to Yeelight, I have updated the Firmware, the LAN Control is on, the razer synapse and the Yeelight Razer Connector is also installed all on the same network. The issue is that the bulb 1S isn't showing up on Razer Chroma Connector extension. Please help me!

@@paris3380 if you have the global version of the 1s, you still might have a solution to this. I have the chinese version of the 1s and that isn't supported with the chroma connector and the people at yeelight don't plan on supporting it as well.

nope, the main differences are the improved Apple Home integration (should be a hardware thing) and the Razer Chroma integration

It's up to 10 meters, as I show in the details in the video as well. As the length of the main strip is 2 meter you can add up to 8 of these 1 meter extensions.. Hope that helps

open synapse, if you followed along with the video you should see yeelight. click on it go to advanced settings at effects. click on chrome studio and at add effect you want ambient awareness. then you can select the region or delete the layered effects that you do not want and hit save. and that's it.

Just make sure the computer is connected to the same router. Enable LAN control in the yeelight app. My computer was connected to an Ethernet hub/switch and it was detecting it as a different network. After plugging in directly to the router it finally worked.

I found that Yeelight to Razer software integration is quite laggy. Nothing comparable to the Pillips Ambilight experience or just pure Razer installation. The delay of 0.2 to 1 second is massive and very distracting when watching movies or playing games.

No they only have that integration on the 1S version. (I am guessing it has to do something with the hardware?) And yeah, I have tried it with my "old" aurora strips as well but they don't appear for use with Chroma.

@@xiaomify they are just trying to sell the S series which is new. there is absolutely no reason for any of that. just use the Jeelight app which discovers every yeelight. Yeelight need to get their shit together. @xiaomify have you tried the Yeelight TV Orchestra on android? they have disabled it on PURPOSE on android devices other than the MI Tvs (you can't even use it with the Mi TV Box). you can install it everywhere.... it discovers the lights.... it manages them.... but it you press "activate" it says that you can't use it.

Yeah there’s some from yeelight and xiaomi also has some philips ceiling spotlights as well.. as far as I know both are only out in China for now, but they do exist

Yeah, well not the full APP like on your phone though. (really just that chroma connect bridge) I believe that the Yeelight Chroma bridge will be available on both the Razer website as well as the Yeelight website.
