Wouldn’t two 70lb draw bows (cheap or expensive) largely do the same thing? I’d imagine the price difference is more relative to the archer in terms of materials, let off, carry weight, etc

@@pampen338 That is true, but ideally I wouldn’t think that would be a variable if you’re shooting 2 bows setup for the same person’s length of draw. Or does the limb length/geometry affect that regardless if the draw is the same? Not asking to be a dick. I’m genuinely curious.

Field tip would work better against armor. Look at how bodkin points are very narrow to pierce mail or get into gaps in armor. Broad head is useful against unarmored

Nobody else seems to notice this ENORMOUS FACT. The first 2 shots were off to the left and higher, with a definite angle of the helmet making them glance off. The target needs to be completely flat.

It's about poundage, broader head and lastly an aluminum arrow. Carbon fiber isn't ment to peirce armor.

Broad head and field point are just like hollow point and armor piercing bullets. First is good on unarmored targets and can't penetrate armor, second penetrates armor but doesn't damage the target as much as first

Arrow heads designed to penetrate armor are heavy square blocky points for a couple of reasons , easily made & very effective. Use those, and you'll find different results.

You also hit more 'centered' with the expensive bow. This will definitely have an impact on the penetration as opposed to just glancing off. Do the test on a piece of flat sheet metal that has no curves.

Price & draw weight aren’t necessarily related & you need a Bodkin head on those arrows. Broadheads are for severing blood vessels & I’ve never seen an metallurgically armoured herbivore.

$200 or $10,000 bow. Makes no difference. It's the draw that counts and the angle it hits at. Also, these are compound bows and those I'm familiar with would break between 40% to 60% of draw. So a 70# draw may only require 40# if your holding draw position.

Would go with the field point at a high draw weight (50-70 lbs), the narrower the field point, the better the penetration from the look of it.

You have to use a solid broadhead like an iron will. Those broadheads that are vented like that are constantly being gound in bones

You need Bodkins with sockets..inserts in carbon shafts won't do it...also you have to get the pob forward. I could get the $200 to get through easy. I could do it with a 50 pound recurve 28" draw.

You should try a recurve bow instead there stronger not to mention the bow you had was meant for either hunting or sport but if in order to have a war bow the draw back needs to be 70lbs+

Single bevel broad heads are also designed to be able to have a better chance break through hard stuff like bone . Ive killed several bulls and deer with my bow I get there designed to cut they can also go through hard targets like bone

It's funny how the first arrow on the $200 bow hit the helmet on an angled section and failed to penetrate (TOTALLY unexpected), while the fiest arrow on the $2,000 bow hit center on and punched through. Where you hit matters, anyone can tell you that.

Why are you suprosed by the broad head dude? Thats for flesh not armor. Achers in medeval times used bodkin tipped arrows against knights for a reason. An incredible amount of force on a very small tip.

You don’t know how enough about arrowheads. Look up bodkin points and try to find something that works like that. They’re effectively armor piercing ammo for a bow.
