Yellow Coris Wrasse or Yellow and Purple Wrasse or Silver Belly Wrasse or Yellow Canary Wrasse

Hope everyone is staying safe out there. Today we have a beautiful wrasse that can come in to handy since it protects your corals and fish by eating the pests off of them. With them being easier to feed than a cleaner wrasse, I highly recommend! Plus they are really easy to take care of. Make sure to like and subscribe and FOLLOW ME! I'd love to chat.

QUICK NOTE : they are know for hiding when first introduced in the tank. I’ve seen them hide up to 2-3 days before and then came out like nothing was ever wrong. If this is to happen, be patient and let them get comfortable. Don’t go digging in the sand for them, this will only cause more stress. Have a great day and stay safe out there.

Brock Leonard ya mine hid for a couple hours and goes to bed in the sand every night at the exact same time.. lights on or off he’s diving into bed

Iv had mine probably 7 months but now he has just disappeared?? Checked my sump and weir no where to be seen for at least 2 days. Do u think he’s just bedded down

I believe this is a silver belly wrasse. Yellow coris wrasse is all yellow if I’m not mistaken.

An awesome fish. Mine gets along with everyone, even likes to hang out with a couple of my other wrasses (I have 4 different species all successfully living together). Mine did hide for a long time when I first got him. I actually didn't see him for almost a week. But now he comes out at very predictable times. I also love that he swims all over my tank. He doesn't seem to have a single territory.

I keep a group of three of these guys in my 75 gallon reef. One is an adult male and the other two are juvenile (females). The adult male has very cool pink reticulations on his face. They eat everything I offer, and they don't bother any of my reef inhabitants. They are tough enough to deal with my pair of percula clowns. Cheers, Chris

I have one ordered and was about to back out because It said 3 hours acclimations and after shipping that concerned me. Is that a must? I was also worried about my zoas because they said it could eat soft coral and I have another carpenters but you hit on all those subjects so now I am excited about him and will keep him! I just need to get some more sand because its not 2 inches everywhere but only in some areas unless thats good enough!

@@BrockLeonard they occur naturally in groups so they exhibit more natural behavior. It’s looks fantastic. I recommend it to anyone. 3 small ones should run 150 total.

im considering getting this wrasse over the sixline because of aggression. would a fully grown yellow coris wrasse be happy in a 40 gallon breeder or should i just not bother?

This thing wants to eat my pistol shrimp and yellow watchman goby. And I have 2 of these things. Nope the pistol shrimp ain’t coming out anytime soon (coz its probably gonna get eaten if it does), but the goby’s quick to retreat when it’s seen lol!

Care level??? Easy. Until mines jumped out of the aquarium with the top opened about 6-8'' to perform tank maintenance. It was opened for about 5 minutes while I watched for him. He hid in and out of the rock work trying to avoid me, and when i turned away.....(He must have jumped for the freedom of the floor behind my tank.)

Yea a 21 gallon is small but if you are dying to get one get the smallestnone you can find and just get a new one each time it hets too big amd they only grow like half an inch to an inch a year

Been trying to get a yellow coris at my lfs, they rarely have them. It’s always silver belly’s, last fish I wanna stock for now. Would he be fine in a 40 breeder with a small 6line and a African flameback angel?

Yes. I've seen malnourished ones go after them, but as long as they are fed well they do great and won't bother them

Depends on the tank side. These yellow's can be aggressive as they get older.

Can I add a yellow wrasse to a 40 gallon breeder with a 6 line wrasse? I do not have any other fish in there now. I plan on adding some fish in the future, not yet decided on which fish tho.

No you can’t, the sixline Altho if with bigger fish will act peaceful when it gets bigger and another wrasse hits the water it becomes a terror

They definitely will. They can bury completely under the sand and wedge themselves in small caves. Keep trying to feed around the tank and be patient. Make sure you got lids on so he don’t jump.

As they get older, if they are fed well, they can see the shrimps as snacks.

brock can you keep these guys in groups? ive seen people keep multiple in a tank and was wondering if its possible. and if it is how big of a tank would you recommend?

I’ve seen people do pairs often. Never saw or heard of people having issues with aggression when doing that. You know if you want two, I’d say a 55. Gunna get 3-4 I’d say a 90.

I was laughing when you were calling the silver belly wrasse a yellow coris wrasse but still very similar care requirements just different genus’s and silver belly’s and yellow coris wrasse are actually cohabit-able there’s a youtuber (Prestige Reef) and he had a silver belly with what I think was a yellow coris and they both tried or did mate because they were the same gender (I think he still has them now I’m unsure tho)

A juvenile yes, but as they get bigger, I've seen them be really aggressive toward them if not fed well.

That is a yellow and purple wrasse. The yellow coris wrasse is all yellow. Different species although the care requirements seem to be the same. Great channel though👍🏻

My yellow wrasse is a jerk to his tank mates...."peaceful" is just a word when dealing with fish. They also flip anything they can. If you have frag plugs get ready to pick them up every day.....maybe mine is just a jerk!

@DIPTA DAS yellow, he didn't last. I tried to catch him for about 3 weeks with no luck. Then one morning I noticed my anenome eating something yellow!!! R.I.P yellow jerk.
