Today we take a look at something a little different. A 2007 CE200 with a Cummins powerplant.

That's why I prefer the repower, because if the frame is good, and everything else is good, There's no point in scrapping it, when you can repower it, and keep it another 15 years
@charlesrodriguez79842 жыл бұрын
Yep. Even if it has a Cummins and the engine dies you can replace it with a new Cummins.
@JasonFlamingo2 жыл бұрын
A few counties here in Georgia do the Cummins repower. I wish my county would do that, we still have 2005-2007 CE200s running and whenever the VT365 craps out in one they just retire it. It is pretty neat seeing a Cummins in an older CE. Have a great weekend!

Very interesting! Most of all, it’s GREAT to see a new video from you, especially a bus-related video. Miss you and your videos still! Really glad to see something new from you and I hope life is treating you well. Thanks for sharing this interesting bus/engine configuration!👍🏻

I know this is a year old video but this is the last one I can leave a comment on. The second I saw Jefferson County Public Schools in the news i instantly remembered your videos. I know you probably can’t speak on the issue but I just want you to know that whatever happens with you or your Job, you’ve made us all so happy with all of your videos over the years. Thank you!

Very nice. We have 4 Cummins repowers in our lot; all were originally CrappForce 7s. One of them, 2866, I rode in high school for a year. Great bus, very few issues. Our most recent bus to get the repower is bus 44, a large 2011 CE with wheelchair lift. It didn't need an engine swap at all, but we had an old CE at the neighboring location that was also a repower that was being scrapped because it was falling apart and rusting out. The company decided to send 44 over there, have their shop remove the MaxxForce, and throw that Cummins in it as preventative maintenance. Since I'm shop staff as well as a driver, I got to take 44 on my route and then to the other location for the engine swap. I was the last to drive it with the old engine and the first to drive it with the new, which was fun. When you give a MaxxForce 7 gas, it's LOUD. The Cummins is significantly quiter and runs much better. Unfortunately, another one of our Cummins swaps, 3217, a 2009 CE200, is just horrible. The engine runs great, but for years since the swap, the bus has had electrical seizures. You can be driving it along and everything is perfectly fine, and all of a sudden, the alarm goes off, the dash lights up like a Christmas tree with an electrical fault message, the turn signals freeze up, and sometimes the lights spazz out. They've replaced everything they can think of and can't figure it out. They literally just replaced the PCM or TCM yesterday and had me take it for a thorough test drive. It drove awesome for the first 20 minutes or so. Then I got a random trac control light, and it went downhill from there. Drove it back to the shop with the alarm blaring. Got back to a disappointed shop manager and mechanic. Parked it back in its stall and threw it back on the down list to be used for emergencies only. It's a shame.

There’s a handful of older CE’s that had their engine replaced. There’s a 2010 (I think the bus number is 1010) that had a Cummins put in it

When I get the 2005-07 IC RE200 with VT365, can the 05-07 RE200 convert into Cummins ISB 6.7 engine?
@vacexpert20202 жыл бұрын
That Allison is most likely a 6 speed with 6th gear locked out, our 1998 Freightliners have 6 speed transmissions now because we unlocked 6th gear for better fuel mileage, still governed to 70 ish but the engine runs at lower RPMs, don't know if they're original but looking at the paperwork I would assume so

I’ve seen KY buses, but none of them I can remember had plates beginning with L, (2002-2003) but I’ve seen a lot of buses out there that were from that era, but they all have K and M plates. My question is did they have L plates on those buses?

Do you know the history on the Cummins engine in this? Was this from one of your older buses or did this come reman'd directly from Cummins? Glad they are doing this rather than scrapping the bus, I'd imagine the body and transmission are still in decent shape. Sad the original engine didn't last very long lol
@yellowbusguy2 жыл бұрын
It's a factory remanufactured engine that matches the EPA requirements for that year. Runs perfectly. Isn't as strong as my '17 ISB, but smooth and quiet. Strangely it doesn't get the MPG's my 17 does. 7.7 MPG vs. 8.3 in my 17 average.
