“Yellow Jackets” consists of Russell Ferrante, Bob Mintzer, Jimmy Haslip and Will Kennedy. It is a group from New York which can be considered as the successor of “Weather Report”. Particularly younger jazz enthusiasts are attracted by this music.

Beautiful reworking of Yellowjackets composition as the core quartet with Ferrante recreating Mendoza's strings on his synths and Minzter playing the main haunting melody on soprano sax, what an amazing track that sounds even better than the studio version. 5:24 unbeliveable sax solo

The first time I heard them was in Fort Lauderdale, USA in 1983, and then again in Manchester, UK in 1992. Amazing band.

Just a filthy bass line, precision drums, and the overall rhythm of the band was the best during that time

Jazz encompasses many styles and cultures. Yellowjackets group are studied at Berklee College of Music for rhythm and composition and theory
