Yellowjackets Season 2 Episode 8 Hallucinations EXPLAINED (Updated)

Today I am taking off my tinfoil hat to talk about some comments I've read about Yellowjackets Season 2 Episode 8 since it has aired.
Comments like:
-There were way too many hallucinations and they have no point.
-Why were the survivors okay with killing one of their own?
-Why were the survivors okay with killing one of their hunters?
In this video, I want to address all of those comments and explain the episode 8 ending sequence.

I agree the hallucinations are necessary… when we found out nugget has been dead the whole time that’s a clear indication these people are all further gone than we (the audience) originally thought.

I also believe that Javi may have ended up on the chopping block (no pun intended) because his “friend” that helped him survived in the wilderness warned him not to go back (technically Tai and Van dragged him back). I also believe that Natalie might be chosen again in the present day because it kind of seems like she has met her character arc (she refused to drink signaling she is healing, she finally gave into trying to heal at the wellness camp, she found out what happened to Travis, etc). Where else is there to go with her story? And I kinda feel like this “ wilderness spirit/ thing” is kind of like death on “Final Destination”, it always circles back to get who it was intended to get. I’m so ready for this episode tonight!

May have been other Tai or Lottie who had a vision that he would die and tried to warn him

Major theories that Nat won't make it past the finale in present day which is very interesting! I tend to agree with you that her character arc could be close to its end but I do think theres more for her to find out about Travis' death. We will see!

@@Bingetownent I hope it’s not the end for Nat. On another note, it’s super weird how Tai doesn’t seem to care if her wife and child are ok? I know she is afraid of what she might do but this is very strange, even with Van being back in the picture!

I love this show. The ONLY problem I have with the production is that they don't do more with makeup, etc to make it look like they are starving to death. These kids all look way too healthy. There isn't even a visual hint of malnutrition on any of them.

Very True. They make them look kind of dirty and stuff but more can be done to make them look like they've lost weight since starvation is such a big part of it. Also people love to talk about Nat's hair haha. Travis hasn't gotten any facial hair but once they showed coach shaving I am just going to assume hes been shaving haha.

@@Bingetownent I’ve wondered if this healthy appearance is partly due to the show runners being sensitive to the young actors. I’ve seen interviews with them, and they truly seem like they would opt for less realism in that one regard, rather than contribute to the overall pressure on them, especially the young women, to be thin. In the reality of the show, I wonder how much meat and vegetables they are able to gather. Before the snow, maybe they ate enough to keep from dropping a lot of weight. Maybe their metabolisms slowed way down. It is not an equivalent comparison to look at the young men of the rugby team trapped in the Andes, ie. Women’s bodies are better at retaining fat. That being said, I do think a lot can be done with just making the clothes more baggy.

Couldn’t agree more! I’ve been in a starvation situation and my mind and my body we’re not even connected! I had to be on a liquid diet for eight months and it sucked so hallucinations are absolutely founded! ^..^

Some of the hallucinations are flashes to a parallel world!!! Those are the ones that have a VHS scrambled video look. The wilderness has the power to split up parallel worlds and they can have visions of this other worlds. In one world, they ate the baby, so Shawna is rightly pissed. In another world, Ben is with his bf and didn’t get on the plane. PARALLEL WORLDS. You missed the main point.

@@Bingetownent I think the Wilderness grants some wishes which came true in another parallel universe but punish you in this universe. So Shawna gets a baby in one world, in another it gets eaten, and in this world, she the baby just dies.

I agree with the importance of the hallucinations. However, what is the difference between Lottie's visions/Tai's "whatever the hell her gramma gave her"/Ben's basically talking to heaven?

Yeah I think a distinction needs to be made between possible supernatural hallucinations and "brink of death" starvation hallucinations. Sleepwalking Tai and Lottie have more to do with the supernatural side of things. And even though Coach hallucinated while starving as well, our podcast thinks his hallucinations had meaning too.

Ben’s hallucinations are different! ONLY his have glitches! But, the only other time these glitches show up is when the antler queen is in the therapy office…. It never glitches back however

I agree 100%. I have known of starving people eating shit. Then I realized in YJs they are not eating and probably don't have any.

I think again it’s starvation. Everybody’s brains working slowly, including Travis’s. I just think his head is just checked out man.

I like the hallucinations. They are fun to watch. I think they will prove to have greater meaning as well.i hope we get to see how they came to decide on the " card game".

Where is ur season finale theories and explainations
